I might be confused but there seems to be a contradiction. He said there are no wake words so it's not always listening but in the next breath he said it does nothing until you interact with it. One of the ways to interact with it was with your voice. In other words, it's always listening. Whether it's listening for a wake word or listening for your voice, it's always listening.
i thought the same and i think youre completely right. Also, one of the ways to activate it is by some hand movement, meaning it is alwasy looking too.

Not at all. Their logic was pretty clear, following a logical standpoint. There is a way everyhing they said was correct, asuming what they said was indeed correct. They never say specifically that you can wake the assistant with your voice. Only that you can interact with it. That leaves the possibility that you have to press the button for the voice recognition to start listening. I'm just saying, its possible they tell the truth throughout. Not that the product will ever make it through the beta phase...
So it's a phone with a dorky and inconvenient interface. Dope
the camera is actually valuable if it can scan your environment using AI and combine that with a phone you can do some powerful stuff

As someone who works in the construction industry and interacts with non-english speaking colleagues regularly, having a translator that is this effective readily available would be a godsend. And yes, I've used Google Translate in the past, but it's not always the best at translating certain regional dialects and takes time to pull out my phone and setup for use. Unfortunately, I don't think the other features are desirable enough for me to take the $700 plunge for this, but I'm looking forward to the translation feature being available in the future on a much smaller form factor (and lower price point!).

My take is that, these are just conceptual models which are not fully functional or require a lot more support and backing to be put into production.
IMO it would have been great to have some sort of phone integration as a transition. Phones can provide so much more power and increase the functionality of the device.

This is great and love the idea reminds me a lot of the sixth sense tech from back in 2012 - my only recommendation or concerns as a consumer is I will lose and misplace that so often... I would like to see some sort of tracking feature or find feature... looking forward to the future
BTW the total weight of almond he was holding was less than 15 grams, let alone their protein content with is about a fifth of their weight. A lot of what we saw here are demo only , they are concepts that are planned or at most, still in progress. Take them with a pinch of salt, don't preorder, and don't expect the first release to be consumer ready.
For real! They obviously think highly of the ability to keep track of the nutrition so how the heck did they leave an obvious wrong answer into this ad? Headscratcher for sure

Interesting. I looked up almond weight. The calibre of the fruit falls into the 16/18 category. Which is 16 to 18 almonds per ounce. There are 28.35g per ounce.
I Paused the video and counted 13 almonds, his hand is cupped so maybe he’s holding 20 almonds, at most.
There are .26 grams of protein per almond on average. So he would have to have held 54 almonds, at least
Whatever the case macros are way off. A massive, easily verifiable, numerical mistake for the official release video.

The identify food feature was cool. As a diabetic that could be really useful.
But I see this device more like a companion to my phone, like a smart watch rather than something that can replace it.
If it could monitor my health, bloodsugar/cholesterol and help me with my nutritional intake then that would be an apple watch killer definitely.

Its literally a glorified projector with siri and cloud storage combo. This reminds me of elementary school when everyone would spam projectors 24/7. If anything, their going backwards, not forwards lol. Betting your a boomer for supporting this XD.
I don't know the exact word for the feeling I have as I watch this, in spanish is "ser sanateado". it may be what the cavemen felt when they started using the wheel and one of them had the idea of making it square, and he tries to convince you that it works on fine on slopes.

not trying to make a joke here, but if someone doesn´t have hands, what is the recommendation to take advantage of the Home screen, can it be projected to the wall or a Monitor and does the device have some sort of eye blink sensing system to switch up/down/left/right ?

Suggestion(s):
1.) Remove the projector portion of it.
2.) Market this device to the Visually Impaired\Blind and it would greatly serve it's purpose.
Note: The "Trust Light" will gain just as much attention just as if someone was wearing the google glass, anyone on the opposite side of this will not trust the unknown, even if you explain it.

No, not at all. It will be night in Australia and East-Timor when the eclipse happens, its only visible in Northern America and like Hawaii and some other islands. They didnt even fact check their promotion video... IDK.

Remember Google Glass? It didn't take because the public would feel like they were being recorded without their permission so a lot of people who had it were assaulted. Sitting near someone with a Siri-esque voice all day would be very annoying and anti-social. It's got to have an earpiece.
wrong. google glass didn't take off because it's stupid. there wasn't some mass group of people saying you can't record us. its just literally a stupid product.
It will be interesting to see how this screenless technology will accommodate our craving for real images. We communicate now more than ever via visual aids. It's safe to say friends and family will be even less interested in what I'm having for lunch if I have to describe it to them. A more evolutionary approach would be to simply have this device augment your smartphone, rather than try to replace it.

@@foxdog9332no its not. this one is better than a smart watch. its like a personal assistant. it has a camera if its a good camera it can scan your enviornment and provide you valuable detail. this is good for productivity. this is way more productive than a smart watch and smart watches were advertised to be productive however this one is more capable since its more hands free and seamless.

Voice recognition AI is so good these days that the closed captions in this video displayed East Timor as Easty Moore.
Except for the projector, this thing can't do anything that a smartphone couldn't do. I can also talk to an AI with my smartphone and the screen makes the functionality of a smartphone even greater. The biggest criticism is that everything can only be spoken via voice and can only be output via a loudspeaker, phone calls, text messages, emails, etc. so nothing with privacy. I don't see a replacement for the smartphone yet. not even close.
It's a device that can be used instead of a smartphone but that doesn't make it a smartphone replacement IMO.

His face says everything 😂. I loved the idea first , then I saw it with no future at all. Expensive, it works with a subscription, useless with no internet, easy to steal and lose, is not capable of something new. Not privacy at all. It won't replace phones.

So, when it looks through your texts to find information, are these texts on your phone or exclusively texts on the AI Pin phone number? If it's the later, and it doesn't take advantage of your phone information, that could really suck. Bobody is going to tell people to exclusivley text them on this pin. I mean, being able to make phone calls and send texts from the number this pin is associated with is great, but if people don't know it's you, it's worthless. And then you have 2 places with text information. I ordered one, so I'm excited to see it and use it, but I'm not quite sure about a few things.
They looked so much more happier and engaged during this iOS 10 wwdc keynote where they showed us the new messages

They tried to do it in the style of Steve Jobs with a bit of the aesthetics of modern "innovators" such as Elon Musk and Jensen Huang.
Can someone explain the logic behind "there are no wake words so it's not always listening or recording"... immediately followed by "your engagement comes through your voice...". So, does it or does it not listen? Because if you engage with it by voice, it obviously has to be listening in case you talk to it.
You need to tap the device for it to start listening. So it's not idly listening all the time, but when you want to, you can use your voice to give a command.
That's exactly what I thought, and smartphones could say "we only start listening when you say the wake word", doesn't really make sense does it

It does not surprise me at all that the 3 color styles are the models of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S in those years when they were released and presented, if the same people responsible for the design are the creators of the AI Pin.
Guys the Spanish version of I can’t wait (to show you exited/looking forward) doesn’t make sense with direct translation. “No puedo esperar” means I can’t wait (with sense I’m in a hurry) would be “I’m not able to wait”. A good translation would be “espero verlo”.

Also when the AI translated "enviar" as "ship" instead of "send" you know this whole thing is scripted. There was simply not enough context for the device to know that "ship" was the intended translation.
So what about the emf radiation? Is this going to cause breast cancer, lung and heart problems?
So it's an expensive translator? There's no way I'm giving up a screen with an enormous amount of information for a little projector that only works in the dark. I'll stick to my phone with APPS and ear buds.

Having a camera all the time on oneself can be useful, and the rest can be replaced with a connected smartwatch, so it can be an idea some smartwatch maker can take on
Coming from the tech space, these are demos, these use cases are almost certainly not “fully developed”.
My two questions:
1. What data are you collecting from me about my interactions, physical location, camera and mic? (Can I have it turned completely off, no data collected)
2. Do you plan on EVER having that thing talk to me without it being prompted (i.e. it sees I’m out of toothpaste and says “hey, buy brand x at store x for $3.99”)?
Though I think the future is bright, I see products like this and understand companies ALWAYS monetize, so what’s their play? What invasive tactics will be leveraged against people who pay $5.99 a month instead of the full $24.99?

They could focus more on the projector with more templates including for photos, or something that is attached to the wrist of the hand that is like a retractable screen, that would look very cool, and of course lower the price, but I like the idea . congratulations

Do this presentation Over Again...Everything you have said keeps getting pushed in the backgroung because 1# Only Beth said a greeting 2# You both seem to have a fight just before the presentation 3# she looks at you always you dont look at her 4# Your voice is monotone not exciting at ll and her is tring to be but there is sadness. 5# you are both standing there but not speaking equally don make her look like a prop. And yes All of this is One -Presentation_ You only have One oppertunity to make a first Impression and you blew it. The product could be great I really dont know I was too interested to find out if you both were going to fight during the presentation because the Atmosphere felt so thick. ...Thanks for your time
