Props to Arun for being honest about the product, rather than pretending it is better than it is just becuase he met with the CEO.
Yeah no, not really surprising. Most tech UA-camrs would do the same
You're talking about the guy who went to the google CEO during their foldable announcements and told them straight up "Samsung is better, what made you drift so apart from that?" 😂 . I think we wouldn't accept anything other than honesty from him, as he is expecting from himself. Props to him indeed 👏 👏 .
@@blackpepper2610 yeah no a lot of tech youtubers wont do that. They want good brand representation and they want other companies to see that if you pay them and invite them to events that they get easy promotion so that the youtuber gets invited to more events.

They both gave their honest take on the product. Arun really dug into why its really bad , while Marques went for a super clickbaity title that harmed the company more than the review itself

Arun and Marques reviewing this product showed to me why I love them as content creators and tech reviewers: their honesty. I will always use their videos not only to entertain myself, but also to give me a good idea about the product I wish to purchase.
And as much as I wanna love the Pin as well, I agree with them. It ain't there. And props to them for being so brutally honest about, despite the fact that-at least in Arun's case-the CEO was present
Their sponsored opinions. I am yet to see them hating on stupid smartphones from Samsung, Google and Apple.
@@Druze_Tito
Well one thing is for sure, Humane isn’t sponsoring them for the review of this video 😂 otherwise it would’ve been stated as such. Plus, the only reason you’re not gonna see an nothing-but-negative review of the iPhone, Samsung, Pixel etc is because is far as the tech and ability of the devices are concerned, they’re pretty decent.
Privacy concerns are a completely diff matter and don’t belong in ANY electronic review bc if I was gonna make a video pointing out that Google uses every sliver of your data and spies on you (just like every social media app on the market), then I’d do it on a separate video. But I get what you’re saying 100%.
These guys have made a nice living off of reviewing tech, so I’m sure they don’t want to piss off Big Tech in the process, makes sense to me 🤷🏼♀️

@@Druze_Tito I think you don't actually watch these guys' content at all, or you would know that both of them have roasted both Samsung and Apple products before.

Guy's unbiased, willing to say NO despite speaking with the CEO, and provides suggestions and critical feedback for product improvement instead of just roasting without basis... Kudos to you, nice job...
You do not understand the definition of the word "biased". As long as someone has any sort of want for things going one way over the other, they are biased.
For example, in this case, there is a financial incentive for making engaging content to maximize clicks to maximize them $$$s. Whether that makes it more attractive for him to destroy this product regardless of whether it's good is irrelevant to the discussion of whether he's biased.
The best anyone can do is typically "making an attempt to appear unbiased or correct for their biases."
@@Alice_Fumo I believe you are overthinking it, as the definition of "biased" is: unfairness or prejudice against someone or something.
It goes without saying that every content creator has a need to make watchable engaging content. But when reviewing products it can go two ways: they are pro or against something. Their "bias" of making a good video will pervade the video in any case, so they might as well share their honest uncensored experience and let the content write itself.
Was Arun unfair in his criticism against this product ? I don't think so.
Did he have prejudice ? Well if you count his desire to like this product, then yes. But technically no.
@@DavorBaI agree

The fact you went into detail with every single question that actually made me concerned about the problems that’s just amazing how he did it he thought of it so well
That final point is exactly what I was thinking. An interface in a pin which pairs with your phone for data, storage, processing etc. would make so much sense and be something I would be legitimately interested in. There is even the potential for something like this to act as the controller for AR glasses to remove the awkward navigational problems those have. I can see a pin being a great part of a system but not as a stand-alone device.

True
Yeah
I have the same reflection without testing it. Nice idea and I also like the thought behind it, but the next big thing is smart glasses that can replace monitors and have a form factor that is not massive.
Pretty clever use of depth and gesture, I like the concept and I think of the applications for elderly or even just day to day use can be great if it's refined and simplified further.
Edit: Oh I missed the part where this was backed by leading industry companies, and 200mil of support, now I see why it's actually not that impressive, I thought this was made by some small developers.
I showed the original company pitch to an elderly relative and they said "oh hell no. It's already hard enough to use a smartphone, let alone this laser gadget".
It's awful for people with physical disabilities. Bad eyesight, arthritis, hearing difficulties. If you're deaf, it's useless. If you have arthritis, it's painful. Blind, nearly useless, since you can't do the hand interface.
At least laptops and smartphones have text-to-speech capabilities. Accessibility modes like high-contrast and large text, colorblindness adjustments, grayscale, magnifyer, narrator (with a natural speech cadence). Even braille.
Honestly the intro just shows how transparent they're being "We'll have to fix that." It's just a matter if they do.
Seems almost like the CEO was taking this as an opportunity to actually learn about what's not working.
I truly appreciate Arun's dedication to speaking his mind without feeling pressured to speak positively of a product just because he got to spend some hands-on time with it.
He does choose his words wisely though 😜
You got to love a device that only starts working the millisecond after you've given up all hope.
Thank you for an honest and very informative review. I`d so like this device to perform as intended. The concept sounds amazing!
Im not a tech person but I love your videos, your integrity and Just awesome vibes shine thru.
"This isn't a medical device."
The Ceo gives a disclaimer as an attempt to avoid liability for false advertisement instead of being upfront and transparent about the device's capabilities and limitations.
If you think a camera with internet access can accurately weigh an item, know exactly how it's cooked and can determine it's exact macro nutrients you might need a medical device for daily life... a helmet.
@@krad1314 Exaggeration... an AI that is trained on enough images of food + calorie and nutrient information could probably give a good estimate. OP never implied an exact requirement, but probably a "good enough" approximation which was not demonstrated in the video.
@krad1314 so you just completely ignored my comment to call me stupid. I would ask that you learn to read so you could respond properly, but that's probably asking too much of a single brain cell.
@krad1314 to be clear, my original post was about some greedy individual lying about his device's capability to get more people to buy it, then making an excuse when it doesn't perform as advertised. But I understand that words and sentences are hard to comprehend for those special individuals like yourself who have to rely on a single brain cell to process all that information.
If it does or attempts to do anything that can be seen as medically related, it has to be certified as a medical device. A process that is extensive, expensive and requires a great deal of scrutiny.
I could see something like this being a tool for the blind or visually impaired. I imagine being able to describe what is in front of someone or what they're looking at in great detail could be super valuable.
This was my first thought, surprised it is not mentioned
THAT is a fantastic point.
At that point you could just make an external bluetooth pin that pairs with your phone. There's way more accessibility support on phones
only for blind people that could see before
That already exists through glasses with cameras
Dude watching this self destruct on reviews is glorious

You hit the nail on the head at the end. Tell me something this $700 + subscription AI pin can do that my $200 Galaxy watch (likely soon to be powered w/Google Gemini) can't do. It can already do things like check the time or weather, and have the world's information easily accessible via Google assistant. It has a screen that is WAY better than this pin's laser projector. It's also much more stylish than wearing a black cube on your chest. Once it gets access to AI-powered assistants it'll just get even better. The only thing it doesn't have is a camera, but the one on this pin is barely useful at all as you pointed out AND I have a phone with Google Lens/circle to search in my pocket already.
And you have not to pay every month to operate your watch😊

Being a tech enthusiast and building tech of my own has taught me something:
Most users do not care about COOL tech.
If your product's tech is cool, but has limitations, most users will gladly go for the boring yet useful product.
I understand that the concept is like the AI of the movie "Her", but that product didn't want to become a "Tool", like this AI pin is trying to become. That product was an "AI friend" of sorts.
This doesn't apply to established brands like Apple though
This is why I am subscribed to mrwhosetheboss. You knew the CEO and the fact he is gonna watch this video yet you were fully honest.
You gave really good points especially on the subscription model and basically saying it will be a paperweight. 😂
With some changes to how you interact with it it seams like it could be of great help to visualy impared people, just the "telling you what things are" (even though you can do that in other ways) seams useful.
The way it says "finding synonyms" about 10 seconds after you ask the questions and then takes another 5 to answer makes it look like something from 2004 and not 2024.
Wonderful video. Thank you for not being “bought” by that trip to their company and time with the CEO they gifted you. You fundamentally reviewed and pulled apart the entire concept at its core. Bravo. One sentence I felt was missing right at the end - is that we have watches, we have wireless earbuds for private audio, what do we need this company for - they didn’t even create a single AI model that makes this device useful. They’re pointless. Once Apple and/or android puts chatGPT into their voice assistant, this entire company is worth nothing.
The self-importance of these people because they worked on the original iPhone and iPod is hilarious.
The fact that the CEO had to supervise him while he was reviewing their "product" sums it up.
They seem incredibly out of touch with reality, like people with a lot of intelligence in one area but no perspective in general life. The idea that having a 24/7 AI assistant literally attached to you somehow helps you "stay in the moment" more than a smartphone is honestly one of the silliest things I've heard supposed smart people come up with. Thinking we need a new "smart device" that does most of the same stuff a smartphone does, just without the visual aspect, to stop relying on another smartphones is a peak 'intelligent people being stupid' moment. This isn't going to make people less reliant on apps or a smartphone, they just want a piece of the consumerism pie and they're using the idea of it being "good for humanity™" as their selling point.
Also the name "Humane" just feels trashy, especially because now we've seen the device in action it doesn't seem like they were thinking of what humanity needs while making it at all. Even the thought process behind it seems to be just a random gadget to add to the market and make them rich. Calling your company "Humane" seems like they're trying too hard to be perceived as "the good guys" of the tech world. It's overkill and a desperate attempt to build a public image that will sell.
@@natb9919also, that name sounds like the baby formula „Humana“ 😆

I can see one really cool use for this; construction. It is _really_ awkward to have an expensive and delicate phone in your hand while you're occupied with power tools or physically compromised by the odd configurations of limb and torso that profession perpetually entails. Maybe not this specific version, but I can definitely see use cases for a more refined, upgraded version that 1) is cheaper and 2) much more advanced, probably running on GPT-5 or whatever a much more advanced model is called in the future. Even better if they can reduce the latency in requests, maybe by also having it run on high-speed 5G- which again, will be something that is more accessible in the future than it is now. So this idea is basically too ahead of its time atm.
Already I can see the beginnings of a good product; its quirks just need to be fixed and it'll be there. But it's definitely not there right now, and thus isn't worth even considering buying it.

Its Brutally Honest Video. Every tech channel should be like this.!
You know a place where this device like this would be perfect? A Star Trek Starship. Powerful enough processing capacity to host its own AI model, spacious and populated enough to justify day to day use for users, enough mission profile variety for users to fully utilize the badge's functionality. This basically combined the combadge and the tricorder
Won't look out of place either with the other 60"s technology lol. Sounds good on paper but IRL it's basically a Nokia 3310 and a projector. In comparison this makes the iPod Shuffle seem like a good idea.
My immediate thought on that floating UI is it would be better if you could use your other hand to interact with it as if it was a touch display.
But then it would literally be the opposite of hands-free… a hands-full device 😅
>$24
>that's 2x of what I'm paying on my phone's contract
*cries in $80 American phone bill*
This is the main takeaway of the video
@@Yeah_Toast Yes.
get mint mobile
Yeah the us phone companies screw you over, I get 200gb data, unlimited text and calls for $12 a month in the uk, also the unused data rolls over to the next month
@@bradliam11tbf the UK is a lot smaller than the US so it must be a lot cheaper for the telecom companies here.
I love all your review. And also marques
This reminds of the Pebble smart watch which was pretty basic and clunky but drove the smart watch market on. I think there is scope for Apple to take this concept as another satellite device for your iPhone. This removes the need for a separate connection and fee.
Just what we expected
a $700 pin is quite the gamble in any scenario lol
I eat the cotton candy from my walls
I'm better than arun
A $700 pin that costs $50
@@GOC124why would that be?
I absolutely LOVE how brutally honest you were
I honestly didn't recognize this video since I don't think I've ever seen Arun look that grumpy.
They should reengineer it to be an A.I. hub that's an extension of your phone, tablet or computer. It would be more useful as a way to interact with your device without interacting with your device. Have most of the a.i. live on device and have it pair with your device thru Bluetooth or hotspot so you don't have to waste money on a another subscription.
this is why i love watching mrwhosetheboss he's honest
sameeee
the "when you are looking something up but looking down" is brilliant
Mortis?
If it did more of the things that I want to do (quickly) without taking out my phone, it would be something I would very much like to use! Setting a timer, making a math calculation, comparing two short sets of data, taking accurate voice notes, etc.
If it could do those kinds of things (and as a bonus, the AI questions) really well, I think it will be a fine product! I could not care less whether or not it can message others, take a call, use an app like Uber... ; that's what my phone is for.
I honestly cant wait to see what is going to happen to this. I think this product will be very useful in the future!

Props for the honest review. Before even watching the video, I could already predict what the issues were going to be and I was indeed correct in that assumption. The other issue is most people have smart watches now too, and all you really need to do is install an ai assistant on it and you pretty much have something that this thing does, without the price tag or need for an additional data plan. Great video Arun.
That's a great point. In the 150 dollar range I would consider this, in its current form even. At 700 it needs to at least match devices in that range or really excel at something those devices can't do. The benefit of this is convenience, even with a 15 second wait time, I can think of plenty of cases where I would use something like this. (Especially after traveling and wishing I could Google something with one free hand as I'm pulling luggage). But at 700 I'll just wait til my hands are free.
What Arun says at the end makes the most sense, this thing as an extension of your phone, a kind of alternative or even companion to a smartwatch, would make so much more sense...
$24/month for a phone plan!!?? That's incredible. They're 3-4x more in Canada.
Nah it’s about $90 a month in the US for unlimited data and texts etc. I think he’s just referring to the cost for this device.
@@HotTakeAndy he lives in the UK 😂😂😂
That's just calls/text/data not including any price for the handset itself, but yes the UK actually has some sane competition between mobile networks
