1:35 This Flash Gordon wasn't a TV Show, it was a movie. A movie with a kick azz sound track by Queen. It's over the top campy and cheesy, but worth a watch. Good movie.
This game was Bally's answer to Williams's Black Knight. That new soundboard really kicks this game up a notch. Sounds like a modern Stern re-issue of the game.
Greetings, colleague, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. It's a pleasure to watch your videos and learn about pinballs, you are very didactic. I have been a technician for some years. Always attentive to your new videos. A big hug.
One of my all time favorite movies & pinball I played this machine all the time. Didn’t think I’d like the new sound board but you can’t go wrong hearing Queen while playing
The game was fun, that's for sure. I remember the movie...all of us males at that age remember that movie...kind of like remembering Princess Ardala (Pamela Hensley) in the "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" TV series. Also, Queen for the Soundtrack? AWESOME!!
The costume designer deserves a hug for that one. Looked him up, Jean-Pierre Dorleac, he did the clothes for Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Knight Rider, Designed the Greatest American Hero's little red jammies, Airwolf, and a lot more. Seems he did all the cool shows costumes in the 80s
Wow what a machine. I can remember playing it in a café in Margate when I was an apprentice in the early 80’s. I loved the big flashing light and the music by Queen. I like the way they have stenciled the cabinet and the sparkly gold colour, however it would’ve been nice if they had masked up the inside a little better to avoid the over spray. Loved the way you explained the coils and the switches. Well done Ronnie
o yes,a fave as a kid..the strobe ! Brilliant game play, lookin forward to this ..Thanks guys x Its not from the series its an 80s film, you need to watch it !! Has Timothy Dalton Brian Blessed Max Von Sydow..really good film x
Cool Vid Ron, Took me back 40 ish years to my old Bowling Alley. This was in between Centaur and Xenon. Early 80's was great for PINS! Tanks for taking us along for the ride!
Damn what a cool machine! I've not seen one of the two-level playfields like this on a real machine before (just on simulators). Fingers crossed YT doesn't make you edit the music because that soundtrack is awesome!! I love the owners custom gold glitter stenciling.
Flash…Ah-Aa…saviour of the universe….I had one of these games in about 1994….It had a similar problem with the flipper at the top RHS…I believe that games with the two flippers on the RHS are prone to having issues it’s the small upper flipper. ….Also, from memory, this game was Bally’s response to the fantastic Williams game “Black Knight”. ….very similar, or maybe an exact copy of the two playfields on that game. …..Flash Gordon is a really attractive game with all the lights and the great playfield art…..All you gotta do is defeat Ming the Merciless. …Great to see this old classic still rockin’ and doing its thing.
The instructions reminded me of Monty Python: "I do wish you'd listen, Wymer. It's perfectly simple. If you're not getting your hair cut, you don't have to move your brother's clothes down to the lower peg. You simply collect his note before lunch, after you've done your scripture prep, when you've written your letter home, before rest, move your own clothes onto the lower peg, greet the visitors, and report to Mr. Viney that you've had your chit signed." Ya know, simple! 😂 Beautiful machine with cool sound upgrade! 🤠
Great work, Ron. This sound is not the original that came with the game in the 80s. Probably the new sound board has this “modern” queen soundtrack style and the original sounds via a dip switch. Actually the custom sounds can be put on a sd card on the sound board
You need bifocals with little or no correction in the bottom lens. Much better than removing glasses every few seconds. Just go with it. Kate Beckinsale isn't going to care either way.
Back in the 60s, a local TV station would run Flash Gordon reruns/episodes from circa 1950s, during their after school kids show hosted by “Commander Tom” who was also the weatherman. It was cool to watch for kids my age, albeit very primitive (AKA “fake”) special effects.
The lenses in your eyes are hardening. This is normal with age. You have Astigmatism So you had bifocals for both far and near. You see a lot of guys raising their bifocals to read close up This means the lense has hardened to a specific curve. Definitely to the Optometrist and have a full eye exam and get new glasses. This will continue each year. Slight changes in your vision. I have the same thing happening Been the last 5 years and keeps getting more profound.
Any reasons when the Flipper coils don't have the diodes it causes the gameplay to cause what types of problems? without the diodes the flipper coils will cause a reverse flyback voltage sending back to the MPU/CPU motherboard but there should be driver transistors blocking and absorbing the flipper coil reverse flyback voltage?

Saw Flash Gordon at the movies in 1980..never heard of the pinball but great soundtrack by Queen...Flash...Ahhhhh
Flash! A-ah!
Savior of the Universe!
I have a flash gordon pin and i love that gold glitter..phenominal idea. Wish mine looked like that.

The music, for this movie is queen. I love the video, so I hope it doesn’t get flagged by the UA-cam gods
This makes me so happy!! Thank you for the work, time, and effort to put this together. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Thank you to the owner for letting you share this wonderful machine with us.
I loved playing this as a child! Great game.
I like these machines with the mirror effect in the back glass, really makes them POP!

Did you hear Thom Christopher who played Hawk from Buck Rogers passed away?

All you need is Brian Blessed screaming:"GORDON'S ALIVE!" when you get it finished! Lol
Damn you, I was just about to say similar looked down and there was your comment 😂
@@grilnam9945it's what he's known for. Lol
That, playing Augustus in I Claudius, and being in Black Adder as well. He certainly had a presence with that booming voice! 😄

Artwork is just awesome 😎👍

Flash Gordon music by Queen, I used to play this game, like 100 years ago!
“Ron… ah-ha!”
“Saviour of the Silver balls!” 😉 Looking forward to watching this in full tomorrow. Regards
All those lovely pinball machines you get to play with..
My dad recently gave me this. I've been playing it since I was a boy. Mine has issues, unfortunately.
Great channel! Thanks for sharing
That's awesome, hopefully you can get it working again!
Another great video. Appreciate the patience you have while working through the problems so we can follow along at home.

The dude between the flippers (and elsewhere) is Ming the Merciless. I was born way before this machine was made. LOL. 😂

You need to see the 1930s Flash Gordon and the 80s version. It's your speed, especially the original.

Beautiful machine with cool sound upgrade! 🤠
It blew everyone away that Queen did this soundtrack back in the day. What a cool game. Classic stuff there.. Ming the Merciless.. how pathetic..
What great arcade !!
Hi Ron. Great machine! Thanks! You and Joe have a good weekend. Catch you Tuesday
That game is not about the TV show. That game is about the movie where Max von Sydow played Ming the Merciless in 1980.
Emperor Ming awaits.

A very fun game. My cousin's had this game in there pool/bar room.
It was the movie remake not a TV show
Amazing machine! Have always wanted one
Thay sparkling gold is more fitting to flash gordon
I still love the 70s and early pinball machine. the sound me of my arcade days. Look some made in the usa

savior of the universe. when Freddy Mercury & Co. started to Sell Out
Hey Ron!!
Anyone else find themselves playing along. Reflex, I couldn’t help it.
No Bingo machine yet? I was really hoping to see one. Love the video regardless.
dude this game is awesome and i know if i had the money i would buy a whole bunch of them and open an arcade just to house them lol

Two bDiodes and a Son of a Switch.. No match for RON!
Flash gordon movie came out in 1980
There is a new flash gordon will release in 2025, henry Cavill, Jason Monmoa, and other well known actors in this remake of a remake from 1980,

LED lights. 😕
This is an awesome game, love the speech in this game!
I can't believe you would stoop so low as to comment farm by saying you know nothing about one of only two *movies* Queen provided the soundtrack for.
