Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 сер 2022
- Double Chicken Please makes one of NYC’s most popular fried chicken sandwiches, but that’s not how the restaurant started out. It opened in NYC during the pandemic, and quickly became one of the country's most popular cocktail bars. It soon after launched its food menu, which features a chicken sandwich that has become so popular that the restaurant now sells over 200 on a busy night.

This bar, the drinks, staff & overall look in the video is all very well done on a high level.
I worked around the world as a cocktail bartender in various Countries & I must say these are some special drinks🍸💎💯
After traveling around the world I settled here in Taiwan. 🇹🇼
so I recognized that cool guys Taiwanese accent right away.
Great mix of East & West ☯️
Sure they could find someone to mold or buy an industrial sized ice mold with the shaved edges shape to save time.
There's so much passion and detail put into their whole restaurant. I wish them all the best with their business. Totally gonna visit when I go to New York.
dont go to Nyc its acomplete shytehole
Same here :)
Best to make a reservation well in advance
Seeing the chef repurpose the leftovers from prepping drinks into food was really cool
I don't know if I'd say he "repurposed leftovers". he intentionally design his menu this way. there's a difference
@@nottheone582 thats literally what he did. He designed it in a way where he is able to repurpose the leftovers.
That mushroom coffee butter and whisky concoction is one of the coolest things ive seen in awhile
Usually I find complicated cocktails really pretentious, but this is actually really cool to see their thought process.
These guys are next level.
Yeah still pointless and disgusting imo...just give me a str8 shot and hurry up..the sandwich looked fire though
@@johnnyrodgersss wont really know till you try it. looks too much but I assure you its smooth and tastes amazing. but if ur the type to just want get smashed then its definitely not for you
*Facepalm*
For real these guys made me respect it not gonna lie
This man is an artist. What a legit bartender. 5 stars! Two thumbs up!
He's a drug dealer.
Their cold pizza and soba cocktails are outstanding. Definitely a must visit again.
So for anyone whose curious, Tainan had a massive sugar industry back in the Japanese colonisation period during world war. Basically, every dish in Tainan has extra sweet notes compared to other cities in Taiwan, some people say the reason for it is because sugar used to symbolise wealth back in the day, but there are a lot of different stories for that. That's why people from Tainan are pretty much all sweet tooth.
didn't ask. don't care.
@@Pooqua The guy literally mentioned "For anyone whose curious". Atleast bother to read before you are rude to somebody because your life sucks.
@@Pooqua yeah just like I didn’t ask u to read my comments, n I don’t care if u don’t care. Lol, have a nice day :) thx for your comment ;)
@@Pooqua Yikes. discord mod spotted.
For anyone else curious it was also the heart of the Japanese Cocaine empire where they produced uncountable kilos to be stockpiled for self-sufficient anesthesia with tons of surplus sold on the black markets from China to India. Japan was briefly the world's first narco state.
Reading the headline I thought this establishment served chicken based cocktails
So did I it looked absolutely disgusting
I mean I thought it was gonna be something like rendered chicken fat or something and the thumbnail was for the click bait. I've heard of fat on spirits so it wasn't too crazy and idea. .. but yeah definitely thought it'll be a chicken cocktail
Edit: watched the whole video they do wayyyyyyyy more intricate stuff than chicken based cocktails. This place my absolute respect!
Yea I was so confused I was like please tell me that’s not just grease
Same lmao
Omg! I though so too! I thought it was a chicken broth cocktail Lol 😂
man i would love a cocktail and a chicken sandwich right now.
The part where they said "we just had to do something to survive" is so relatable on a spiritual level almost. The Rona hit everyone hard, times are tough, people go out of business like the apocalypse is nigh. Keeping your head above the water becomes a necessity.
Best episode yet. These guys are brilliant in their approach. You can feel the passion
What a great lot of passionate and down to earth people. Wish you all continued success in this business.
It's just crazy the amount of detail on how intentional their efforts are towards a dish or drink. Mindblowing.
Love what GN Chan has done and achieved. I had the privilege to meet him when he was coming up at Angel's Share, which has sadly since closed. It's beautiful to see how much passion he has for his cocktails. All his concepts including double chicken absolutely deserve the title TOP 50 US BARS in the nation.
They shave and cut down ice to make a better quality drink. The attention to flavors and reuse of ingredients is amazing and totally from love. I want to indulge in this for sure.
Please without all the pretentiousness, its just a giant ice cube, even if you cut it into an intricate diamond shape, its no different from an ice cube whose purpose is to make your glass drink cold.
I respect alcohol critics for their ability do say "elaborate" descriptions of flavor profile on drinks, but on the aesthetic section of bartending? I never got sold on the scene, because you are there on the bar to indulge on the drink, you stare on the glass for a couple of seconds and thats it, its not as if you get to be mesmerized on staring your drink for more than 10 minutes...unless you are getting drunk
i wonder why they dont just order spheres. or buy an ice machine
@@rdu239 nah its the product + experience, tickling every sense, which sets it apart
@@rdu239 There is an actual scientific reason for shaving the sides, it reduces physical contact with the glass which slows down the melting speed of the ice allowing for a better drinking experience. I'm not disagreeing with your opinions, but felt I should point out a chemistry/physics fact about the reasoning behind the ice shapes.
@@W4TH3JE5U5 but there are still edges on the ice so unless it was a sphere that theory doesn’t hold up. I think the whole thing is very pretentious lol it’s even worse that the bar tenders think there movements have to be all robotic looking and fake, is shaking a glass like they do really necessary? Just shake the F N thing and smile
When this video started I rolled my eyes a bit thinking "oh its a cocktail and fried chicken place well this won't be pretentious"....turns out its actually an awesome place. The detail and combination between the restaurant and bar is really cool.
This place will endure the test of time. They have innovative recipes that take into consideration sustainability, refined flavoring, enriching Asian culture, a team that has bonded in their passion and good nature, and well, put-together decor. Can't wait to visit and devour a dish and drink.
Not Japanese lmao
Taiwanese
@@buythaiproperty Thank you for the correction. I thought I heard mentioned at one point that they were Japanese.
Japanese cocktail technique, but the owners are taiwanese. Simple mistake :)
@@mrstuffguyz Is that legal?
This place was the hit of our NYC trip this December. You really can't beat top shelf cocktails AND amazing food. Could've stayed there for hours.
You can clearly see the discipline, enjoyment and 100% dedication in everything that they do.. and they do A LOT! Definitely on my list of places to visit.
I love how we can see a bit of the science and creativity that goes on in their kitchen. Makes you appreciate the food more.
One of, if not the, best Eater videos I've ever watched! Their passion is palpable and, by extension, the joy in what they do.
I don't even drink but I just wanna go and try all their cocktails they have on offer, they make it look so appretising and the skill behind each drink is truly remarkable. I hope to visit one day
That was awesome. Can really feel the hard work, creativity and love they have for the place.
the fact that he takes the time to cut the ice, respect to the craft man!
Everything looks absolutely delicious
love seeing their passion and love for everything they do. You can feel how much thought they've put in. hope to visit this beautiful place when I'm travelling to NYC one day
Amazing! Incredible amount of care and quality going into this behind the scenes.
Appreciation for the time and work that goes in to the process. Well done. 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Dude... best watch in ages. The energy that goes into creating the drinks menu is NUTZ you guys are a necessity for the industry %100. . .LESSh GO!!!!!
the way they do the shaking is mesmerizing! I love all the details and what the creativity and concept of all their menu tems!
Such dedication to flavour and customer satisfaction! So much respect!
These chefs/bartenders are why I wanna get into bartending. The process is long but the flavors must be wild.
BLOWN AWAY... the precision👏👏
One of the most creative concepts I’ve ever come across in NY. Wish them the best and years of success.
I visited two weeks ago - just fantastic - First a cocktail front of house, then back of house had the Red Eye Gravy. The flavours were incredibly complex and came together in a magical way. Was late at night, so have to go back and try the food. People were fantastic too!
Probably one of the most innovative bar/restaurant I've seen on this channel. Every little thing has a purpose and everything is done to perfection. (Ffs, they make their own Oreos)
I'm def gonna go here on my next visit to NYC! What an incredible team 👏🏼
What would this world be like without creative people like that. What a great place and I need a drink...cheers🤟
This is beautiful. I have been slacking on some creative projects lately. Watching them and their commitment to their craft inspired me. Time to work.
Bro those mushroom poppers. So many layers of flavour. Amazing
Just WOW……… so creative and dedicated. Something to be Very Proud of. Not only the owners, but the workers too. Great atmosphere
This is really cool how they pair/combine the food and drinks. As well as using the leftovers from the drinks in the food.
Back to watch this after They nominated as No 1 The best Bar in North America
Congratulations Double chicken please, well deserved 🙌🍸🐔
Thanks for making this 20 mins, so worth the double length, great bar
Taiwan #1! Love that we finally get to showcase to the world the sophistication, creativity, and heart that bartenders in Taiwan have been cultivating and developing all these years!
most of the people I've met from taiwan have been super cool! they have some amazing talented folks in food, fashion, music, etc
One of your best episodes, Eater! Good job!!!
Ah such a good video, really appreciate the professionals explaining their brilliant technique.
I am beyond impressed with the amount of creativity and soul go into every especially these cocktails. Such a amazing job like an art. I have no other words just wow.
The attention to detail is amazing
Respect their passion and the intelligent put in on presenting their drink and food👍
The chicken sandwich caught my attention, the cocktails blew me away! I wish I can visit this place some day :)
How did they blow you away if you haven’t tried them smh
amazing creativity, and amazing value for the crazy amount of effort they put in 🍗🍗
THIS IS ART.
That is some next-level craft right there, all around. The attention to detail and creativity is nuts. If I still drank I would definitely try it out (will have to settle for that crazy awesome-looking food though).
the amount of complexities are incredible!
The bartender is a mad scientist dedicated to his craft, you can tell he's passionate about cocktails!!
Oh yea the videography and music was on point also!
Love this series but this is so much more fascinating I find. I don't even drink...
They do mocktails ;)
This video had me really engrossed wanting to watch more such a cool process of how they make food and cocktails I shared the video with my dad and nan 😁
The fact that i've never even heard of these ways of utilising mushrooms and whiskey and all these drinks just amazes me.. WOW
I really love their innovative ideas. Especially the drinks.
Literally unique, at least to my knowledge.
Love these guys!!!
Red-eye gravy is southern; I love the throwback.
The fast washing of the whiskey!!! Love the passion and innovation! Awesome!
The effort that went into making ONE item is incredible enough
very wonderfull, Their cold pizza and soba cocktails are outstanding. Definitely a must visit again.
great conceptual project. thanks for the knowledge shared
This definitely goes in my bucket list.
They're very good. Went for my birthday and everything was lovely.
This is a really cool and creative episode! Thank you
props to you guys,, creative and elegant.
That was amazing! I have to go there when I am back in NY. This sums up what passion looks like
Of all the mise en place episodes I’ve watched - this one has intrigued me the most. I want to travel to New York just to visit this place.
amazing work !!!
Very dope. Much respect to what these guys are doing. Hope to visit some day!
The combination of the red eye gravy is so new to me! Can't even fathom how it would taste, would love to try it once
Wow! Unbelievable the amount of work and processes that gos into their products.
i have few words for these guys, amazing !
my favorite bar in nyc. what an experience
These guys are brilliant, all of them love what they do. I hope I get a chance to fly out there
wow Amazing work! must be tough to work there but you must learn so much !
Love the effort that goes into everything . At first I thought it was pretentious , now I see it as passionate so well done great work 🙌🙌🙌
Holy smokes that hot honey chicken sandwich looks amazing
Its fast food honestly, no matter how people try hard to make it posh and fancy, US cuisine in general are unhealthy
Very cool and very innovative. Beautiful work.
This place is actually reasonably priced for NYC
Wow.....just wow..
So much to say but gone speechless..
Never thought anyone would do this much of mastery in drinks.....its just incredible...hope one day I will go there and taste their every possible drinks...
Biggggg fannnnn all the way from India.
This place looks awesome!!
I have been to Double Chicken Please about a year ago and I can tell you that my money was WORTH every penny. I did not have any food as I went there for drinks after. But man.... the drinks have crazy depth of flavor. The key lime pie and the Japanese cold noodle are my top faves and I can still taste it in my mouth.
@Double Chicken Please...Great job guys i love the technique very passionate and smart!!!
this place looks amazing, i live in aus but if i ever go to NYC i definitely will remember to visit here
Wow so creative and different I love it
I'm not much for mixed drinks. But this place could change me. Looks amazing.
Looks amazing.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw the thumbnail... I wrongly assumed it would be some hipster nonsense - but I was completely wrong. I got a bunch of new techniques that I think are absolute brilliant. Will defo be using them!! Even the way the guys and girls take the lids off shakers is slick! Great video
I remember the time they were doing pop up around the country. I was really curious back then how they run their bar. Thanks eater.
Omg his focus and the seriousness when he makes the drink is like he playing cards gambling !! ; ) it’s so cool!! And so fast !!
me : yeah, that's how you make a proper drink
also me : *chug my $3 beer
Never wanted to visit New York before until I seen this. Think I’d be happy to spend a whole holiday in this place trying everything they have
oh wow how inventive and original!
This is amazing.
Never thought to use fresh herbs for a brine. Fantastic!!!
