Fun fact in the Discovery Instagram Logs Jett was pissed she had to install Pattern Buffers in every corridor because of Linus' constant use of the transporter badge.
The only one(s) that ever really stood out to me were: 2. A Ferengi transport seen maybe only once in TNG, but I'm not even sure anymore of the look; was there a spirally effect twisting around the transported person/people? 1. A Klingon transport seen maybe only once in TNG: sparkly like the Federation's, but deep red, fitting of Klingons, with a lower electro-growl for the sound
Not sure about the Ferengi. I thought there was one in VOY "False Profits", but there wasn't. Might be one in "Menage Troi", but when I collected about 40 different transports to research for this video I didn't find a Ferengi one, but in 900 episodes of Trek...that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Also could not find a TNG Klingon transport, and I looked in nearly every episode a Klingon is in.
I’ve always loved the Cardassian transporter effect, though I believe it had more detail in earlier seasons. It still looks better than anything through the Kurtzman era. My favorite effect is the Klingon transporters in Star Trek III. Even though they retained the look for Star Trek IV, they added a “friendlier” sound effect. The sinister sound effect in TSFS paired with the gorgeous visual is so satisfying.
I would really like to see an updated version of the Dimensional Shift from "The High Ground." Similar to how they improved the Supervisor Smoke, this has potential to look really cool.
4:25 I appreciate your pointing out the whole "how do they get their steps in" if they just transport everywhere thing. Seems everyone in the 32nd century should be morbidly obese. Also, I think the word you're looking for is "effortlessly" - you seem to keep saying "effortly."
Why would they be morbidly obese? By the 32nd century they probably have super-Ozempic that keeps you ripped no matter what. And yet, the "effortly" thing bugged me, too.
The only issue I have with the transporter use in Picard season two, I can understand in the 23rd and 24th centuries when the technology is commonplace, there are satellites and other technology to allow equipment to send a traveller or piece of equipment round the curvature of the Earth similar to how phone calls and text messages are done today. I'm willing to admit I didn't notice any on-screen explanation for why they're somehow able to do it with a transporter signal in the show. With the two parter story that takes the Voyager and its crew to the 1990s, they show a satellite relaying the transporter been that saves the bad guy. I did like the TNG transporter affect, at least towards the later seasons, and the Kardashian transporter affects are quite interesting. If anybody can recommend a good tutorial for after effects it would be appreciated.
Yes, I agree about S2 Picard beaming from France to California doesn't make a whole lot of sense with the curvature of the Earth, but just as far as the effect itself is interesting.
I always thought that the Starfleet transporter effect from Star Trek V: The Search for God [insert wink here] was one of the worst. Partly because it took the well-established transporter effect from Star Treks II-IV and just made it look cheap with a pair of side-swiping and inexplicable "ovals", but they kept the same sound effect. I know, I know, the budget was slashed for ST:V more than once, and there are several questionable FX shots (the Enterprise going to warp after "Emergency Landing Plan... B" ... just bad), but it was just jarring to have something that had become "THE Movie Transporter Effect" abandoned for budget (only to return in ST:VI... albeit in massive slo-mo as noted).
would have been nice if you had included the audio track for at least some of these, especially the ones where you specifically commented on the sound effects.

I always thought the Dominion transporter effect was best: the best sound, the best visuals, the best RANGE.

It's like a piece of torn paper that then repairs itself.

Which I why I highlighted 6 over 5. Same thing, but slower for dramatic effect.

STD; the worst of everything.
Yeah, since this guy focuses on Krappy Kurtzman Trek, count me out of subscribing to the loser.
