- I originally co-wrote and recorded this song "Refresh The Demon" with Jeff Waters in 1996. This is how i would approach it today.
Liner notes: No triggers, no samples, no quantizing, no replacing.
Drum Kit: Pearl Masters Premium Legend, Scarlet Red Burst finish with Black Chrome hardware.
12 & 13 rack toms, 14 & 16 floor toms and 18 gong/floor tom.
Snare - 5.5 X 14 Free floating Brass.
Cymbals- Sabian : 2 X 18 and 2 X 19” HHX-xplosion Crashes, 2 X HH Power Bell Rides, 14” Vault Hi-Hats and 14” AAX V-Hats, 2 X 19” Paragon Chinas and 21” Holy China.
Drum Heads - Aquarian: Kicks-Super Kick 10 & Resonator, Snr. - Jack Dejohnette, Toms - Response 2.
Recorded and mixed with the Presonus StudioLive RML16AI mixer and Studio One Pro software.
Mics - Kicks Audix D6 inside, SIB KM Pro outside, Snr. Audix i5, Toms Audix D2 & D4, Hat & Ride Audix M44, O.H. Audix SCX25A. Room Mic RODE NT2. The Kelly Shu kick mic mounts.
Drum Sticks: Wincent RBSCB signature model - Black.

Refreshing! I got addicted to Annihilator a long time ago, but was more of a Jeff Waters Canadian fan boy. It is really awesome to put a face and style to a drummer whom I have heard many times, but never saw the technique. Very awesome! Excellent style, and it explains a lot with what I hear on the albums. Annihilator 4 EVER!!!!

wow that was fun to watch.i saw primal fear in 2010 in va.amazing show.hard to say who was the most impressive but im gonna say it was Ralph!.his vocals were straight up A+.im not possitive but after bout 4 songs they decided to go from really loud to split ur head in half loud.and is stayed like that the rest of the gig.lol.i dont know why tgey did ur but it . was

Love this and love your work on the Annihilator albums!! Did you record the cymbals separately on the King of The Kill and RTD albums? The drums are so punchy but I assumed they weren't triggered back then?
