Phenomenal video!! I always smile whenever you upload. Your videos are like catching up with an old friend. This episode has several of my all time favourite albums (I’m a fugazi, yo la tengo, slowcore fiend) i found your take on down colourful hill very Intresting. I still love red house painters and sun kil moon but I loved your mature and insightful take on mark’s actions. Great work as always!!
Completely on the money with I Could Live In Hope. I'm a new Low fan, only hearing this record for the first time a few years ago, but their discography is among the most important in my life. You mentioned Red House Painters as the quintessential sadcore album of this video, but I would argue that some of Low's work proceeding I Could Live In Hope take that spot. Between The Curtain Hits the Cast, Trust, the Great Destroyer, and their two final records, take your pick. Do You Know How to Waltz especially has been in heavy rotation for me recently and has grown to be one of my alltime favorite songs. Alan's upcoming solo album will definitely be one to look out for, even if he seems to be scaling things back down relative to how explosive their final album ended up being. Happy to see all the slowcore rep in general as a diehard of the best rock subgenre with the silliest name. RIP Mimi
I think that, for the very first time since you've made the first /mu/core video that I virtually didn't know any of the albums on this tier even existed (with the exception of Stratosphere), yet I want to listen to every single one of them by the time this video ended. Kudos to you.
BRO HES DOING LEAVES TURN INSIDE YOU NEXT EPISODE!!! If thats not the album you referred to as one of your favorite at the end of this video I don’t know what it. That’s my favorite album of all time.
just had a look at the chart and saw what the first album in the next row was, good luck with that one dude 😭 in all seriousness, this series has been really great for me to listen to while studying, i really do hope you keep going til the end, you’re doing a great job! :)
i started listening to geek the girl around a year ago, i could not finish it and i still don't think i ever will - it's still one of my favourite albums of all time
50:13 i remember the first time i listened to duster in mid-2020, it was actually space age and gold dust that were their most popular tracks. all sitting well under a million streams, of course, likely much lower than i remember but it was a while ago lol. i remember checking again a few months later and seeing that inside out had rocketed up. i only found out two years later that it was because of tiktok - which i never installed myself until some time in 2022, so my guess is as good as yours for how it blew up
Great video, seems like the next row is absolutely bombarded with post-hardcore, would absolutely love what your thoughts on that are, especially with Eureka.
I'm currently ploughing through this list as well. I was going to start on this row today and only just found out you're posting this lmao. Sad that the version you're going through doesn't have Kazumoto Endo's "While You Were Out". Would love to hear your thoughts on that. Also, 3 private videos on the /mu/core playlist? 🤔
it's funny, though; idk that--outside of the details--the kozelek situation is all that surprising, given... well, the actual lyrics. it's amazing how people that so pretentiously overanalyze them can fail, so totally, at making basic observations on directly available information with that said, things can be multifaceted. they aren't necessarily a binary
Very glad you adressed Mark Kozalek's allegations. Seperating the art from the artist is really wishful thinking a lot of the time, especially for an album like DCH. As much as I love it, I can't really listen to it in the same way either, especially with some of the more sexual imagery. Great video as per usual.
idk yo-tan-go is just a weird one. reely, what we have here is a disarray of mediocre to great-at-best indie pop. then, at the end, for whatever reeson, they decide it time to be artists and pull off a closing trio for the ages, between the absolute, blatant & shameless neu! rip-off that is beep-boop (hallogallo meets isi on steroids, probably while listening to CAN & trying to play electric mainline by spiritualized--all of which is to say that it's fantastic), we're an american band (whose solo is "inspired", let's say, by other work (only i cannot recall which; please help a sucker out)), and the beautifully endearing and wholesome my little corner of the world (which--by this point--almost sounds original) more to the point, though: slowcore?? reely!? more like stereotypical indie pop, except for where infused with kraut, shoe & space, to produce something evocative and interesting, rather
You haven’t listened to vaporwave??? I used to be into that music a ton before the pandemic. It really helped me to appreciate the art of sampling. I will check out that album by Low; I remember getting into their final album during lockdown and finding it very comforting despite the noisiness of it. And I will check out that album by Red House Painters (separating the art from the artist, of course).* *Of course, for obvious reasons, I won’t talk about it on my channel.
Eventually, but this one kind of bombed views-wise! I enjoy making them but if I can get more views doing something that takes less time to produce I'm gonna do that first.
damn, guess i should give "i could live in hope" more listens. gave "songs about leaving" a try recently and found it rather middling. hardly slowcore, though
Can't wait till you cover the hip hop section in 2058
The Classics alone are going to take quite a while
the metal section in 2124 gonna go so hard

This series is literally one of my favourite things on youtube!
BRO HES DOING LEAVES TURN INSIDE YOU NEXT EPISODE!!! If thats not the album you referred to as one of your favorite at the end of this video I don’t know what it. That’s my favorite album of all time.
This series has helped introduce me to so many albums that I ended up loving.
Love your vids.

I'm so scared. It's the only album from the row I've not listened to yet lol.

If I'm not wrong the band Cave In got their name from the Codeine song.
i was JUST looking for some new music all hail lord boundo

While You Were Out is a top 3 noise album of all time easy
Also the private videos are attempts at uploading this that failed because of copyright LOL
@@itsboundo. Ah, I see.
can't wait to watch!
When we needed him most….
