He is so cute. He really looks like human baby. Mama looks concern about him in the corner, just like any mother would be if her baby were touched by others. Please don't think they are inferior to us. they are amazing the way they surf in life. Now days there is a gorila who talks with signs language. They are simpler the way they think (like kids) and love us.
Yes, he does cry, a little grunting-cry noise and sometimes he'll make a distress call "hoo hoo hoo." He is much more quiet than a human infant though and might cry once or twice a day. When he's hungry he gets a little fussy, active and roots around, he'll cry only if the bottle takes to long.
Can you please explain this… I just wrote this elsewhere, but I should’ve addressed it to you, as you would be most likely able to address why your zoo did this… I don’t understand is all of the blue sterilized gloves/gown/mask, making this vulnerable newborn gorilla’s care seem really emotionally detached and alien-like. Everything I have learned about animals and human relations is that animals can’t catch sicknesses from humans. So this precaution seems extremely unnecessary and not healthy for the baby, because he should be able to see the facial expression and have some development attachment to his caregivers via better contact, feeling their loving warmth and touch. Grasping their bare hands, etc. The sterilized dressing made me very sad when watching this video.
@clongoram I dtake a guess and say that it's because of first off they have alot of hair to protect them from the cold/wind and provide a nice sleeping padding for the ground, also to protect against irritation from the thick forest leaves they pass through in their living environment. The dark thick skin colour is prob to protect against harsh sunlight especially when they go out into the clearings to relax.
@truvelocity they laugh too. I had no idea any animal other than human could laugh. I don't know if they make an actual sound but I've seen the handlers tickle them and they friggin LAUGH...it's amazing
Humans could take a lesson on the compassion animals show to each other and indeed other species. I look at some of the uneducated, sick and ignorant remarks of this lovely film.
@kranktank Of course. Their brain has enough development to be aware like humans except for abstract concepts like mathematics that require engineering. Other then that, the development from infant to about that of a 4 year old parallel humans.
If you think gorillas are human-like, check out my video of a Scandinavian family to 1 year entitled "Cute and funny baby of chimpanzee". Just type that in the search and you should be able to pull it up. It follows the development of a baby chimp from just after birth in an incubator to walking and his birthday party at one year. He was treated just like a baby human, but his motor(voluntary movements) devolopment was so fast! He was climbing and walking in a few months without a problem!
Look how he's holding her finger while feeding just like our babies do ... sweet thing.
Why does everyone feel the need to humanize them. They aren’t human babies. They are wild animals
I saw him yesterday at the sf zoo. He is the cutest, most playful thing I have ever seen
You are so lucky to be able to visit this gorgeous baby 🙂

Looking into that gorilla's eyes would make my heart gush more love for he/or she!!
He's actually a male. They even said he was a boy. And I don't care how old your comment is, either.
