Well to me it describes the relationship between these 3 characters. Chihaya has special feelings for Arata. Taichi is jealous of Arata. Taichi likes Chihaya. Just look carefully at the composition and lighting of the shots. Hope this helps ^.^

I think the scene is that way to say than even if Taichi is closer to Chihaya (basically living in the same city), she is far away from him.

Great series, karuta looks fun. I love card games, the game has several layers of cultural barriers though. Even being fluent in japanese won't help. I don't understand poetry in my country, so I can't appreciate the beauty of it. It's like playing Pato in Argentina.

Can someone tell how good this anime is? I want to give it a try
Well, actually this is sport anime with a bit of romance and drama. But the one that makes interesting is Karuta itself which is originally Japanese culture that no one's probably know much about that.
I have watched a lot of animes but this one has become one of my favorites since episode 1.
Each person is different and has different likes and dislikes but, in my opinion, the emotional content of this anime is shocking.
There's just so many well written characters to love :) along with the tense sports matches and beautiful animation it makes for a treat to watch so go ahead!
