I love her routines! Some oldies but goodies, and some new stuff thrown in there! Society has changed so much and so did what we find amusing. I think her humor has got swept under the rug. I loved all her work in the 90's. She set the bar for alot of comedians. I love how her jokes don't get old even in situations where she is forced to not only memorize routines but also inform. To me - that's a hell of a task.
I love Wendy Liebman so much. The problem here is not as much the old material but she just doesn't seem as confident anymore. I mean even back in the 90's (although I saw the material very recently), her style was to have an awkward and shy body posture with that wide smile, but she did that confidently. And no matter how many times I watch those videos with the same jokes, it is always funny. A little bit of the issue was also the audience. In the clubs, everyone would come very open and they were encouraging stage performance. But when she went on to America's Got Talent, the audience was in the mindset of "judging" the performers. I hope she finds her lost confidence and comes back with a bang.
I agree with your assessment 100%. A lot of her act involves precise timing and when it's not there the act suffers. But I still think shes hilarious and love her so so much. And I want the best for her and her career.
awesome take on this class act. in her younger years, she had rapid-fire jokes. She has gotten slower these days. if this was the 90's, this audience would be constantly laughing. She is only 48...err...i mean 57. she lost her mojo a bit.
Kindergarden joke still makes me giggle... :) I know what people say. That she needs to do new material. And I also think she's got a lot of good new stuff. But I also think she's very intuitive. Just watch some interviews with her. I think she's one of the few people who could actualy go on stage litteraly without any material and just start talking. She can addapt to any new situation. Even here she's talking to a woman in the audience about a srewed up joke. She just has to dare it.
Umm, I have to get this out. I love her speech at the end... however Wendy used to be this hilarious high energy woman.. one of my fav comedians of all time. She's gotten so slow and so low energy that I almost want to fall asleep. It's really too bad. I think she should write for other people because she's just so smart and so talented. Her energy is so low... I think she may need to rethink her act or stop. Have an espresso or something! Love you Wendy
yup! she has lost her mojo a bit. i am thinking she mighta had a writer writing her jokes, who had better sense of humor, and maybe that person is not associated with her anymore. She would have had this audience really laughing in her younger years. not her best performance. not even her best years, as i saw her on America's Got Talent a few years back and she bombed there, too. Sad for Wendy.
crowd is dry. Wendy is an ICON!!!

Phenomenal!
I like it a lot!

She's outstanding. The problem here is that TED is not a good comedy venue. That's that.
"My mom was an actress... I was raised by her understudy" so hilarious!!
