GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini Unboxing & Setup

- In this video, we are unboxing and setting up the new GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini. This new Mini GoPro is slightly smaller than the full-size Hero 11 Black and for the most part, is a full-featured action camera with all the capabilities of the Hero 11 Black. The new GoPro Hero 11 Mini only has a small screen on the top and does not have a front or back touch screen. This will make it more durable but will be a little more inconvenient when it comes to changing settings. There is no photo mode and other features like GPS, Hindsight, Looping, and scheduled capture are not available. Stay tuned for a full review coming soon.

Thanks for the review, Shawn! We’re excited to see what you do with Mini. As you said, the GoPro Quik app makes changing settings on Mini super easy. We also recommend it for pulling up to 24.7MP frame grabs from video if you do want still photos. We opted to prioritize some features over others to pack all the power of HERO11 into this smaller form factor. But we’d love to hear your feedback on what features you're missing once you put it to the test 💪
Did you opt to keep the thing working without glitches and overheating or lockups with these compromises? I am forever pissed at you and you know why! Give us our money back for the literal garbage that you sold us..... Only then I will silence the guns.
@@Finite-Tuning I myself am on the same boat. The few folks that do ask me, I say hard pass on gopro and to try something else. I been selling all my gopro gear after I saw the 11 overheat on a youtube video. cheers

Love how the Hero 8 black has two screens, bigger body, and is still lighter than the Hero 11 black mini. Really was expecting this to be in the 100g range. Long story short I’m sticking with the Hero 8 for FPV.
This would be a great camera to use a media mod. For those who purchased the screen mod this would be an amazing use case! If that's something gopro would consider I would actually think about picking this up.
Agreed. This would be one great accessory. Perhaps they will be releasing a media mod for it on the road in which we can attach the display mod

GP’s have a history of locking up, which is resolved by pulling out the battery. Hopefully 11M is less buggy and this is not an issue. Appreciate your concise videos!
We’re always working to improve the camera experience. If you ever do need to restart Mini, hold the mode button for 10 seconds to restart like you would with a battery pull.
@@GoPro so tell me what I’m supposed to do when it’s time to exit from an aircraft, the camera locks up and won’t record? The tandem passenger has paid a lot of money to have their skydive captured just to have a camera lockup. I currently use sessions for handcam video and they’ve never locked up even at very cold temps at altitude. Am I supposed to have the pilot do a go around while I fumble with a camera? When the button is pressed, it should work. What did you do with the sessions to make them never lockup? Do that for all your cameras. My mini is currently in shipping. I hope I don’t have to incur any issues while trying to focus on a skydive.
This will work perfectly on my tandem skydive handcam video. Currently use a session and it’s a bit shaky. I like the small form factor size with less chance of parachute line entanglement. My sessions have never failed me even in extreme cold temps at altitude, which I did have issues with lock ups using a hero 7. Random battery drains, won’t start recording and such. This can’t happen when a customer has paid for video. Hopefully this isn’t buggy at first and works well.
Thanks for the unboxing. I'm returning my GoPro 11 Mini because it has problems turning on. It's soooo unreliable, I didn't remember what was inside the package :) Your video helped me to collect the items to return.
We got a buckle mount …. Hides it behind box. Maybe some of us would like to see how it all fits together

Wanted the hero 11 but the mini was cheaper. I plan to attach it to my motorcycle or helmet.
Is the hard case the same size as the regular sized GoPros? It looks like it is though

According to the GoPro website, it doesn’t. But I do plan on testing that out shortly.
Please do some testing on mic adapter....If it supports than it will be a compact deal breaker for all motovloggers....

Now tell us the truth here. How many times did that thing lock up or overheat on you just simply unboxing it? Can't pull a battery when it's built in, how did you manage to shut it down when it locks up like all GoPros eventually do? Cheers 🍻
Basically it's a use and throw product.. Definitely there would be much more heating than regular. I wasted 100 dollars on ear phones with inbuilt battery which died just after 2 use. Due to lockdown I went to service center after a year and they said nothing can be done..
Moral is I will never buy an expensive product with inbuilt battery
Lol. Deed I did have it lock up on me once since I’ve had it first I was a little puzzled on how to power it down because you can’t pull the battery. But just holding down that front button for like 10 seconds, kills the power.

no way that's true. GPS is such a battery drain, I bet you %90 don't have it turned on.
I cant think of a single situation where I would ever need GPS in an action cam

sold my 10 last month looking forward to upgrade with 11mini... shortly after selling the 10 i realize the 11 mini has a non removable battery!.. useless!... ill have to wait out til the 12 next september

If anyone is not using GoPro Labs you are are missing out. Using QR codes for the mini will be necessary and the easiest way to control it.

Yes I have, works great. Not much weight savings but more durable do to having no screens
