  • Part one covers the very early development of the human heart. We go from the flat trilaminar stage to the looped heart and its five regions. Part two will then take us from this stage to the four-chambered heart we know so well. I hope you enjoy it.

I don't normally comment on videos, but I couldn't let this one go by without showing appreciation. Thank you so much, I finally have an easy way to envision all the 2D drawings in anatomy textbooks in 3D. The physical props were excellent!

Absolutely PHENOMENAL! You have a beautiful gift of simplifying difficult subjects. A superb lecture series. I am a cardiac sonographer and LOVE anatomy lectures. Your teachings sir, brought tears! Just incredible!

I don't usually comment on any videos but THIS ONE WAS A MUST!
Fantastic work! Hardest part about studying embriology is the 3D visual of all the development and movement going on (which makes all book figures looks 10x more difficult to understand). Not to mention the fact that the explanation is in accordance with Moore and other good embriology books.
My biggest thanks to you! Hope you continue this work (which I'm sure demands a LOT of time!) helping students all over the world (thank you internet!).
Best regards from med student from Brazil!

I never comment. But I feel obliged and guilty to express my appreciation to you as a teacher. And also for other med student to not skip any minute of this outstanding lecture.

This is the best video on Development of Heart that I have watched. Understanding the 2D images of the text book just got easier after watching the video.
Thank you so much ! I had been struggling to understand this myself since quite sometime, but had failed in doing so.
    Keep up the good work.
    Love from India.

This is the best video on heart embryology. It is obvious that there is a lot of effort to prepare this video and the part 1. I was worried because development of heart is really complicated but your videos are so understandable. Even though I am not a native speaker of English, video is unsophisticated (I guess it is the right word to describe) and I understood it. Thank you so much.

At 10:25, when you start outlining the problem that you can't shut off connection between the left and right atrium without the embryo dying, are we assuming that functionally the outflow tract has already divided into pulmonary and aortic parts and/or that the interventricular foramen is too small for blood to flow from left to right? (although of course they are all happening at the same time)
Because if that hasn't happened yet, then I assume blood can still flow into either the primitive ventricle on the left, or the bulbus cordis on the right and it wouldn't matter. If any blood flows into the bulbus cordis, it can just exit via the aortic sac, and if any blood flows into the primitive ventricle, it can just flow into the bulbus cordis and exit through the aortic sac. So in that case there would be no problem.

Just one comment: At 30:00 you mention that the Ductus venosus turns into Ligamentum teres after birth, if I'm not mistaken it actually turns into Ligamentum venosum.

the ligamentum venosum is continuous sometimes with the ligamentum teres, so both are correct
