Thanks for sharing your more personal menopause banter with us, it's such an overwhelming time for loads of us and symptoms can vary so greatly, it goes on FOREVER and can be exhausting, from the perimenopause years to the post menopause...us girls need all the support and info we can get, and our GPs aren't always the best places for that, I hate to say. Lovely having you back podcasting too, ❤
Thanks so much! It is such a ‘ride’ eh?! Blows my mind how underfunded women’s health is. I thought it was just the U.K. but sadly, from the many messages I’ve had, it seems that it is pretty global. So we have to build our support networks from within it seems. 💪 Thanks so much for your message ❤️❤️
Fantastic episode. Your knitting is gorgeous! Yes to speaking out about menopause and mental health!! We all need to talk about peri, menopause and post-menopausal symptoms. As women, we also need to advocate for ourselves and others. As a woman who works in clinical research in the US, I can confirm that women and our symptoms are not studied nearly enough. There is a general hesitancy to study women in general, especially those who could possibly become pregnant. Even for those who are past their child-bearing years, the interest (and ability to make $$) is simply not where it should be (and would be if we were men). You were spot on in doing your research and demanding the care you needed. I am glad that you are feeling better and even more so that you shared your story. I hope that other women feel empowered to ask the questions they need to a fight for the care that they need. Good job Lynne! Rage on!
Oh wow! Thank you so much for your message and your support for me and all of us on this journey. It often feels like there’s an imbalance in research and we in the U.K. are also in a ‘post code’ lottery in terms of the levels of healthcare and prescriptions we can access depending on different health boards. I guess the more information we share, the more we know what’s out there for us….and we can then advocate for ourselves and others. Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you have something fabulous on the needles!! 🥰❤️🧶❤️
My dad used to play a record that had the Dylan Thomas poem Do not go gentle into that good night. Over the years, at times, I have found myself saying Rage, rage against the dying of the light. I am just finishing off the Rock It tee #2 in one yarn, sport weight.
Hi there! It’s funny how little snippets of poems etc stick in our minds. Who did the recording? Was it Thomas himself or Richard Burton? Your project sounds great, I’ll have a look. Don’t want to lose my current knitting mojo to the Summer weather 😂 Thanks gif stopping by 🧶❤️
Thanks for sharing your menopause journey so far it's really helpful to hear people's experiences, I've just been confirmed as peri menopausal and starting on HRT in a couple of weeks x
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I'm am seeing my doctor in a couple of weeks so I'll be asking for a plan of attack! And I Will rage.... 😎. That's me with the sunglasses trying to be my cool self again, haha! I really needed this, we sure do need to have more conversations, the more we share, the more we help each other!
Hi Sue! Thanks so much for stopping by ❤️ Glad it resonated with you and YES to the super cool sunglasses. You are still very much cool 😎 - you make things from balls of string for goodness sake!! 😂 Hope the appointment goes well. I found the separate Oestrogen gel and Progesterone tablets worked best for me rather than combined, but try some different combos if you are thinking of heading down the HRT route and don’t be afraid of going back a few times until you feel ‘you’. Rage on! 💪❤️👑
Nice to hear you again. I once saw a tip from Arne and Carlos in their UA-cam videos: the easiest sock. It is the aftertought heel, but without cutting the fabric. You knit the stitches for the heel with a separate thread and go over that with the thread you are knitting with for the sock. Then you can pick up the stitches above and below the other (color) thread and then you only have to remove that separate thread. I hope it is of some use for you. I now knit all my socks like this, I don't do anything else anymore. 😍 All three of you knitted a beautiful sweater. I'm curious what the next project will be. Lots of Dutch Knitting Greetings, Lily 🌸
Hi there! Yes I have done that method too a couple of times. A great way of avoiding the ‘I hope I got all the stitches 🤞’ I just usually forget to stop and measure the length until I’ve gone too far 🤦🏻♀️ Thanks for stopping by ❤️ The three of us are ‘in discussion’ about what the next group project will be 😂🧶
Sharing your HRT experience, I think is very important. I’ve had a similar experience. I was misdiagnosed with menopause at 44 by my primary care doctor. I went to a gynaecologist and was correctly diagnosed. I’m sorry about your experience.😘😘
Great episode and very interesting. I’m in the one third of women who have little to no symptoms of menopause and I really appreciate how lucky I am. Fantastic to have you back so regularly 🧡
Aw wow. That’s really interesting. Isn’t fascinating how every journey is so individual…..which is why we need so much more research into treatments as well as more than 5mins in the doctors chair to try and unpick our symptoms and needs. It’s a crazy ride eh?! Thanks so much for your comment and for sticking with me ❤️🧶🌟
Great episode, not only your fabulous knits but also your frank and honest talk about losing your helium and fighting to get it back again. I'm sure that what you said will encourage many to fight for themselves to get back on track.
Thanks so much for dropping by and for your lovely comments. Everyone’s journey through menopause is so individual I guess it’s important to hear as many stories and options of how to navigate it all. Thanks again x❤️🧶
So much happens in womens body during life: childbirths, menstruations, menopause and we are not good enough to talk about it. So nice you bring the subject 👍 Nature wont leave us alone, so we have to stick together😊
Very very true! You just start to think “yes! I’ve cracked this” and then something else comes along! 😘🤪🤦🏻♀️ We do need to stick together and share experiences ❤️ Thanks for dropping by x
Thanks for another great episode and for sharing your struggles--so important to hear and consider different options to tackle this period of life! NO apologies necessary. Ever. 😊
Wow, you're back. I missed u. Saw funny video of u three jumping over in New sweaters and said to myself. It is u! Welcome. Already bought pattern. Prob never wear it here in Florida. :)
Awww thanks!! So glad you knew it was me because I was jumping over a sofa 🤣🤣 It’s so lovely to be back with you lovely lot ❤️ It is such a lovely pattern 😍 You’ll have to buddy up with someone in a cooler climate and do a yarn/sweater swap 😂 Thanks so much for dropping me a message ❤️🧶❤️
Hi Lynne,I can so identify with what you said about your mum. My poor mum suffered so much with the menopause. Thanks for taking the time to podcast,as always fabulous xx
Thanks for dropping me a message. I’m so sorry to hear that. I think their generation really struggled and probably our grand parents even more. It’s so important to talk about it I think. Wish I’d been able to help her through it with more understanding 😔 Thanks again and let’s keep our balloons flying high! 😚😁
Fight on …… do all you want to do …. Life is too short to hold back .. enjoy every minute and every adventure your new ‘Alan’ has in store for you … and I hope I can join you too some day soon in an ‘Alan’ of my own xx❤
Aww thanks! Thanks for stopping by, I know how crazy busy you are at the moment 😫🤪😵💫 Hope all is ok with you and YES let’s CONVOY!! 🚐🚐 See you soon 😘😘
Thanks for another brilliant episode Lynne and thank you for talking about the menopause. I feel your frustration and after 2.5 years of back and forth with my GP , to my absolute shame I have booked a private consultation. I do not believe in private healthcare but feel I have been left with no choice. In my experience the GP/NHS simply don’t want to deal with any menopause queries. Like you I am reading and trying to educate myself too. Onwards and upwards ……..
Oh wow Nia! It’s a blinking nightmare isn’t it. 😖 I feel your pain and completely understand your decision to go private. You just want answers, I absolutely get it. I hope you get some soon. In the meantime our knitting keeps us from unraveling 😵💫 Let me know how it goes if you feel able to. Lots of love! ❤️🧶👑
Wow, your handspun slipover is so beautiful. Thanks for showing the close up shots of the steek stitches. I am a retired teacher and remember the hectic pace of May. I am so happy you found time to record. I agree with the other comment, you are a delight!
I’m making a Wild Ivy sweater by Wool and Pine with Drops Cotton Merino. I think it’s similar to your Debbie Bliss! ❤ Thanks so much about talking about menopause, I’m just in my peri-menopause but I’m trying to learn about it so I can manage it better when the going will get tougher. So I’m like a sponge soaking it all in 😜
It’s definitely a good idea to gather info so you’re ready to better assess your symptoms and situation. Your project sounds lovely! I’ve used that yarn too and it’s gorgeous 🥰 Thanks for stopping by 🧶❤️
Ahhh Kelly! It’s so disappointing isn’t it. We tend to be the do-ers and the fixers and the make it ok-ers but then feel let down when we go through this phase of life and need a little help and understanding. We have each other ……and our skeins of solidarity 💪 I hope things get better soon. Don’t be afraid of going back and challenging them. You deserve to feel like YOU ❤️👑🌟
Great episode! Actually suicide in this age group is increasing. I wonder what impact the fact that retirement age has gone up from 60 to 67, so women see that they have to struggle on in work for a further 7 years!
Wow! I didn’t know that. It’s so awful and yes I agree, the retirement age may well have had a massive impact too. Thanks for dropping by. We all have to do better for each other and keep talking about the issues, because we really are all in this together ❤️❤️
Sharing your HRT experience, I think is very important. I’ve had a similar experience. I was misdiagnosed with menopause at 44 by my primary care doctor. I went to a gynaecologist and was correctly diagnosed. I’m sorry about your experience.😘😘
Thanks so much Sarah! It’s shocking how many people have reached out to talk about their own problematic journey to getting help - and this is the tiniest corner of the globe, representing the tiniest portion of woman. It is so disappointing that so many women have issues….it’s hardly a ‘new’ thing 😵💫😡 Thanks for dropping me a message and I hope you are back and shining bright now! 💪🌟

“We always strive for perfection!” Love it hahaha😊
😉😉 I’m a good ‘striver’!! 😂❤️

Fabulous ❤️
👏👏👏👏 thank you for being so open, main reason we come back again and again
P.s. I squeaked when I saw you in Mammoth
Aww thanks so much! ❤️ 😂😂 You must have watched it without blinking if you caught me 😁 Thanks for dropping by xxx

Wow Lynne , really good hearing your story, so inspiring a lot of women need to hear you talk about this.
So so glad your back ❤
