Oh my goodness!! I’m SO glad you went to Matsumoto’s!!! If you haven’t been to Oahu before this is a must stop spot. The original owner ( his family still owns it) put his kids through Stanford with the original machine that’s behind the counter. They make the best shave ice EVER!!!
The first and only time I went to Hawaii was almost 11 years ago when I was just a mere child lol. All I can remember was that everything was perfect, the scenery, the food, the culture, it was all so GOOD. This video is bringing back some of those memories and I would honestly love to go back some day.
In November 2017 we went to Maui. The Hawaiian islands are everything you dream of and more. It's the kind of thing you remember FOREVER! So glad you got to go.
As a huge fan of LOST and a huge fan of Hawaiian culture, I'm loving this series. Me and my family can't wait to go back. I appreciate you guys for not giving in and flying all the way to crowded FL for Disney World and choosing this instead. Much love!
Lucky enough to be born and raised in Hawaii. It always warms my heart when people visit and appreciate the beauty, culture and food and are respectful toward this place we call home. Thank you so much for your awesome videos. This one definitely made me hungry... at 11:00pm at night. HAHA!
I visited in 2005 with brother's for a friend's wedding. First and only visit. We rented a jeep and drove the whole island in one day. Amazing state!! People are chill. Weather is fantastic!! Awesome video!!
Watching this playlist now.. we lived on Oahu from 2005-2009. We would go to Matsumoto’s shaved ice at least once a month. The Hawaiian was my go to. It’s changed a lot there, that whole shopping area and the store are all new. This video has me reminiscing of our 4 1/2 years there. Miss it so much. Glad you guys got to experience the north shore ☺️🌈
There are amazing food places out here in hawaii. From the Liliha Bakery Cream Puff to Leonard's Malasada's to having some legit Hawaiian food at The Highway Inn, Hawaii is definitely a unique place for a foodie.
Thanks for a wonderful tour during this adventure. You guys definitely went all-in when it comes to living in a dream by eating delicious food, taking in wonderful sites, and enjoying a few tasty drinks.
My wife and I did Aulani for our honeymoon. Oahu is awesome. Our favorite activities were zip lining at kualoa ranch and driving through north shore. The dole pineapple plantation is really neat too. Love watching this, brings back memories.
I use to go to Matsumoto's back in the 70's and 80's when they used the old machine. haven't been their since but its all about the cut of the ice, to come out with just the right texture.
Yup! Born and raised in Haleiwa! I remember Mr & Mrs Matsumoto, they used let us kids take a rainbow lollipop from the huge glass jars! Always got a pineapple ir banana shave ice, sometimes with ice cream. Was like 50 cents for a small, 75 cents for a large, 10 cents more for a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Ahhh, the memories.
Rainbow Wahine here- it is shave ice, not “ shaved ice”. Did we date while Imwasnat the University? LOL! Actually, I was engaged to an Annapolis grad while I was in grad school there!
@@OrdinaryAdventures lol, the bad thing is you’ll never be able to find another place that can make them that good so you’ll be disappointed with all others..😁😂
are you guys still in Hawaii. I love the consistency of the videos, I ADORE the organization. keep doing what you're doing. long time lurker first time commenting
this takes me back to my Aulani days and I'm so glad y'all got to experience all of this I forgot about the bombers...so good! and the shrimp truck is a must if you're up on the north shore! your faces all day were priceless
Hawaii is definitely an amazing place for food. Wait until you visit Tokyo...you’ll be amazed with all the amazing food they have there. All the food and merchandise at Disney Tokyo/Disney Sea are incredible.
Thank you so much for this video! We’re going to Oahu in Jan 2022 and wondering which of the many recommended food to try. Questions 1. Did you have to pay cash in these places? 2. We’re planning to rent a car just for the last 3 days of our trip - staying a week in Waikiki. Do you think 3 days is enough to explore the North Shore? Thanks for any help you’re able to give.
All this food looked so awesome where was this when I was there back in the 90’s oh that’s right I wasn’t adventurous then. So went to McDonald’s and ate on the ship. Makes us adding another trip to plan with these vlogs.

I Love LOST. glad you guys got to enjoy yourselves on this trip to my Hawaii! My dad worked on the set of LOST and it was awesome getting to see the sets!
The North Shore in the winter is very windy, but in the summer it is very calm. If you had headed up to Turtle Bay you would have seen the 10 to 20 foot waves coming in.
I adore the north shore. Never knew about the bombers. Mahalo for the heads up. I'll have to get some next summer. 😀 Next time you are in Haleiwa you should do the swim in the shark cage and sky dive at Dillingham field, they are both fantastic. Matsumotos shave ice is so good. If you go to Maui get Ululani shave ice, it's just as good or even better. Hawaii is my happy place.
Next time you come to Hawaii, try Uncle Clay's, Ice garden and Waiola SHAVE ICE. They all have their the same soft ice, with their own take on things like custard, mochi balls, fresh fruit syrups. Enjoyed all of your videos! Loved how you tried all of our local foods and had a wonderful vacay!
I lived on Oahu when Aulani was being built. I remember going to those 4 lagoons when construction had started. I just wish I was able to stay in Aulani. I also have some family pictures at Lost Beach. When I still lived there they actually had the set roped off and you could see they tents where they set up camp and stuff
I'm not a "foodie" nor am I interested in Disney or Star Wars in the slightest but I literally can't stop watching all your videos! Love it! Hello from Buffalo, NY 👍👍👍
I like watching it bc its something that's totally different from the usual things I watch on UA-cam! Also I like how you and Peter describe the food and atmosphere and you both look genuinely happy to be enjoying yourselves throughout the adventures!!
Fantastic vlog! A macadamia nut milk latte is a must try. I would "de-spice" the bomber & Giovanni's scamp looks so great. Thanks for showing us all the tasty grinds!
Hi again Peter and Kitra. YES!! I haven’t eAten from that first place, but I LOVE Giovanni’s. Matsumoto’s Shaved Ice is good but the line is too long. My absolutely favorite place for shave ice is a little food shack/truck at the Walkers Outlet Factoies called Mountain Magic Shave Ice. If you go, try it with the mochi topping. I don’t get the ice cream, but I do get the condensed milk.
Haven’t heard of that one but might have to try it next time. When we went to Matsumoto in the end of 2020 there was barely a line. I think I remember we waited like 5-10 min. I know that’s not usual though.
You guys hit all the right eating spots on the north shore. However, a better garlic shrimp truck is Romy’s shrimp truck, located about a couple of miles past Guivani’s heading towards the Turtle Bay Resort.
This was so cool to watch I lived on Oahu in Kailua for a year and a half and I’ve driven to all those locations! Driving on the H3 back to the windward side always made me emotional because it’s so stunning
Loved the video and straight away hitted the like button and I will be watching it on the FC tomorrow. This is the best video of the whole havaii blog till yet. Happy New year 🎉🎉.I am alergic to shrimps so I will not try them when I come to Havaii but I am a coneseur of fruit bowls so I will try them. Just to wrap it up the beaches are awesome and I am looking forward for more havaii adventures.
Happy New Year to you Peter, Kitra, Gizmo and Pixel and everyone on here!!! Hope everyones new year is filled with good times, plenty of wonderful awesome fun filled memories!!!
I was happy to see you went to Giovanni's, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the scampi too!!! Sooooo GOOD!!!😋😋😋 I actually went skydiving on North Shore, and that was the most exillerating, in sane thing I have ever done in my life... and I would do it again in a heartbeat!! The views were AMAZING too!😍 And... Matsumoto's shave ice IS literally THE BEST shave ice on the island!! After you try them, nothing compares!
Hawaii is such a beautiful place. I was lucky enough that my parents took me with them when they went for two weeks. We went on a weeklong cruise around a few of the islands and then spent a week on Maui. I was lucky enough to actually be able to see a volcano irrupt from the balcony on the cruise ship. It’s just amazing there. However, if you’re not right on the beach the humidity is absolutely insane which is just like where I live here in Louisiana. You don’t know what humidity is until you live by the bayous in Louisiana in the middle of summer. LOL Where I live we have the shaved ice and not the crunchy ice snowcones. Shaved ice is so much better. It’s so thin which allows the flavor to get down in the ice instead of kind of staying on top of it.
You have to try Fumi’s Kahuku Shrimp on the North Shore next time you go. Also, we usually rent a car at Aulani that way you aren’t paying for a car when you aren’t using it. We use a limo/car service to get to the resort from the hotel.
You’re one of a few people to recommend Fumi’s. We’ll have to go if we ever get back to Oahu. How much is the rental car at Aulani? We paid only $240 for the car rental for ten days
@@OrdinaryAdventures you got a better deal with the long term car rental. We paid over a hundred for 2 days. Fumi’s is really good and Ted’s Bakery is another North Shore institution, but they’ve been closed since the COVID lockdown.
If you went just a little bit further down the road (basically the very end of it) pass the airfield where the skydivers were landing and the beach you would have come to Camp Erdman which was Dharmaville on “Lost”
What a perfect video to start this BRAND NEW YEAR! We're going this fall and staying at the resort next door to the Aulani, and watching your videos is giving me great ideas for our visit (Kono's!) I'm only halfway through this video and just had to stop and say something about your fun trip.
Hawaii actually reminds me a lot of Puerto Rico (although I haven’t been there since the early 2010’s before the economic problems and the recent hurricanes)...Very American but still unique and GORGEOUS AND TROPICAL

Lost, is my number one fave show ever!! Walking to the beach camp beach was one serious workout but was very much worth it!! Do you see Dharmaville, and the crash beach? You were very close if not.
Go check out Stortos when you guys come back. The best deli sandwiches on sweetbread but got to add the papaya seed dressing. 👍🏼 I love that you guys are supporting all the local spots!
Watching the video now. Bringing back great memories of my trip 2 yrs ago. That marketplace on north shore, I was there. Got a coffee in that shop too. Hoping you go to Kualoa!!
Watching this is so surreal, my family and I were in Oahu last January. I distinctly remember reading an article about this thing called Covid-19 while sitting next to a couple at a bar who just got back from their trip to China.
I’ve been looking forward to this video.... I can’t wait to go back and try that breakfast burrito. Definitely miss Giovanni’s... I could eat that all day 😋
So glad you took an adventure to venture out and see the local food places. Since you didn't see the turtles you and Peter have to come back and do more food vlogs 😉
Shave ice is delish- best place is at Aoki up in Haleiwa!!! Also- some amazing shark dive tours up there too!!! Lastly, lol, watching winter waves is an amazing past tine we took up while living on O’ahu 💜🤙🏼
I know how guys love coffee ( sorry I’m every where, just go with what google gives me at the time), I call it cat poo coffee, expensive from Bali, it was mentioned in a movie from Jack Nickelson, expensive coffee etc…omg it’s beautiful, no sugar or milk/cream….not bitter at all ❤️..with love Mel
Never saw Lost, but 50 First Dates was such a beautiful movie made in Honolulu. Miss Hawaii 😊👍Matsumoto shave ice cream is delicious but too sweet! Miss the gigantic windmills in the background. I love the countryside more then the city. So clean.
I have a bunch of those Santa ornaments. I hide them around the house whenever I have a Christmas party so people can search for them just like the Menehune at Aulani.
We loved Giovanni’s when went to Oahu! You should try out Rainbow Drive In and get a Loco Moco plate. Next to it is Shimazu Shave Ice, which we liked more than Matsumoto. Then for desert get some masala’s at Leonard’s Bakery. I suggest the custard ones. Great video, brings back many memories!

Lost, is my number one fave show ever!! Walking to the beach camp beach was one serious workout but was very much worth it!! Do you see Dharmaville, and the crash beach? You were very close if not.
We didn’t go to dharma because it was closed due to covid. That beach was way more of a workout than I was expecting
I love both of your moods❤ great video
Thanks Rosio
Go check out Stortos when you guys come back. The best deli sandwiches on sweetbread but got to add the papaya seed dressing. 👍🏼 I love that you guys are supporting all the local spots!
We will add this to the list for sure.
I second that! Lived in hawaii for 5 years while stationed at Hickam!
Years ago I had an very vivid beautiful dream about Hawaii I believe I will be going there in the future
Make it happen!
Happy New Year!🎊
It was pleasure talking with you guys glad you enjoyed the north shore 🤙
It was fantastic!
Watching the video now. Bringing back great memories of my trip 2 yrs ago. That marketplace on north shore, I was there. Got a coffee in that shop too. Hoping you go to Kualoa!!
We did. Video will be coming in about two weeks
I love yalls videos! Hawaii is beautiful!
😍
I love lost too!! So cool you guys were at the beach they filmed season 1. Too cool 😎
🙌🏝
There’s a bakery (Leonards) that I have been going to since I was a kid, so glad to see you checked out Malasadas, they’re awesome!
We went there and loved it
Wow. I had so much fun watching this video! 🌈😁
Thanks 🙏
the North Shore is awesome. So much good food.
💯 🙌🏝
It would be cool if you did a haul of everything you got in hawaii, I think a lot of people would watch!!
We will!!
You guys are making me miss Oahu so badly!
We miss it too
At least you have all these fantastic memories to look back on. Thank you for sharing them!
Watching this is so surreal, my family and I were in Oahu last January. I distinctly remember reading an article about this thing called Covid-19 while sitting next to a couple at a bar who just got back from their trip to China.
Crazy
I’ve been looking forward to this video.... I can’t wait to go back and try that breakfast burrito. Definitely miss Giovanni’s... I could eat that all day 😋
We miss it all. We actually went back another day for more breakfast burritos off camera haha
i remember that feeling of your first time in Hawaii. you def feel the mana!
💯 we can’t wait to go back
Omg yes we did that and Matsumoto was the best hands down
Love Matsumoto
Awesome video guys! Thanks for the great content. Peters reaction to the shaved ice was hilarious!
It was soooo good 😳
So glad you took an adventure to venture out and see the local food places. Since you didn't see the turtles you and Peter have to come back and do more food vlogs 😉
💯
Shave ice is delish- best place is at Aoki up in Haleiwa!!! Also- some amazing shark dive tours up there too!!! Lastly, lol, watching winter waves is an amazing past tine we took up while living on O’ahu 💜🤙🏼
Hmmm we might have to try that next time
@@OrdinaryAdventures have you guys been to Zippys or Rainbow Drive in?!
Ha
Those roosters reminded me of my visit to Key West last spring 🐓 😊 I want some of that shrimp!
🐔
Never saw Lost, but 50 First Dates was such a beautiful movie made in Honolulu. Miss Hawaii 😊👍Matsumoto shave ice cream is delicious but too sweet! Miss the gigantic windmills in the background. I love the countryside more then the city. So clean.
I love that movie too 😊🏝
Video looks amazing in 4k guys. Mahalo for bringing us to Haleiwa and the north shore!! I miss matsumotos, solid shave ice.
Thank you
You guys are amazing and always make my day!!😀😀
🥰
I have a bunch of those Santa ornaments. I hide them around the house whenever I have a Christmas party so people can search for them just like the Menehune at Aulani.
Haha that’s awesome
Glad you got to get Giovanni’s Kitra. I agree it is the best shrimp. Way better the Bubba Gump.
Haha
Konos triple crown sandwich...best thing there.
What’s in that one?
Oh man... Matsumoto Shave Ice!!! That place is so good!!! Glad you guys got to experience it.
I dream of it now 😂
I keep getting so excited over that Animal Crossing shirt. It’s too perfect 👌
Haha
We loved Giovanni’s when went to Oahu! You should try out Rainbow Drive In and get a Loco Moco plate. Next to it is Shimazu Shave Ice, which we liked more than Matsumoto. Then for desert get some masala’s at Leonard’s Bakery. I suggest the custard ones. Great video, brings back many memories!
We went to rainbow drive in and got the loco moco, video will check coming in a week or two.
