@@raphaelmercier232 always considered the sorento midsized with a 3rd row cause the Sportage is compact and the seltos subcompact and telluride full size and this slots somewhere in between
This will be a bit long winded but here goes. So much depends on what one values in this segment. If one values clever controls on the inside and an anime design project on the exterior then the Kia is the way to go. Same with the Mitsubishi. If one wants reliability with a tried and true exterior design, go with the Honda or Mazda (although Mazda did make some odd cost cutting decisions on the CX50 interior). If one wants the best ride with a more timeless design then the Touareg would be the choice. There is a maturity to the vehicle that is either a selling point or a detriment. I do not have a Touareg but I have a friend who purchased one and had it chipped. Once chipped, the vehicle is actually engaging and fun. Finally, if you are someone who actually enjoys music while driving, the VW and Mazda with their better sound systems are much better. I have no idea about the Mitsubishi’s sound system but the Kia’s is so flat you are better off listening to talk radio.
I’d love to get the Tiguan, but there’s too much out there about a lack of reliability. Maybe it’s bs, but if VW brought back their warranty I’d be willing to consider it.
I bought the VW Tiguan in 2018 after reviewing then the newly designed CRV, RAV4, Rogue, Santafe and the Mazda. I had it for 3 years and it totally justified a slightly higher price tag with the ageless exterior, spacious cabin, very intuitive and simple to use infotainment system, and premium interior compared to the dated interiors from most Japanese rivals.
I am a Tiguan owner, and I have also driven these other vehicles, I have to say Tiguan is the best in terms of its look inside and outside, its safety profile compared to the other ones. Now if you care about engine, maybe Tiguan lacks a little bit, but it's good enough for most people.
In all honesty I used to be one that absolutely hated the combined climate/media controls. Then I started paying attention to how I use mine. Auto climate is arguably much better in the Kia I have now compared to the VW I used to drive. I use it 90% of my trips now so I’m almost never using the climate controls. And I use steering wheel controls to change media more than anything but when I do use the physical buttons in the console area, I’m still taking my eyes off the road. Once you get used to where the buttons are you can feel around without pressing one until you know which button you’re about to hit but that still takes focus away from the road even though you’re actively looking at the road. I could tolerate the new Kia combined controls thing, it’s not as much of a deal-breaker as I once thought. The big deal breaker for me is the engine power. I’m not looking for an M series ultra-sport engine or something that can do 0-60mph instantly but I would very much like to merge on a highway with other crazy drivers and pass easily. And CVT outside of small sedans is a definite no.
Totally agree. I bought one based on your review and I love it. its by far the best in class. I had the hybrid. Traded it for more that i bought it to get a GV70
Just did a inquiry on the time it would take to get a Sportage PHEV and was told 1-2 years. 😔. Wish the Tiguan had a hybrid option. I've honestly been up in the air between the Tiguan and the Sportage.
I’m very happy with my Soul Red Mazda CX-50, albeit the preferred plus model. Kia would have been my second choice, but there’s some questionable reliability issues in my opinion.
As an outgoing 2018 Tiguan owner, let me just say that it is a) not super reliable over 100,000 km’s (already $5k in repairs in at 110k km’s) and b) the newer models aren’t really “affordable” any longer. I paid $37,000 for my Tiguan Highline; a similarly equipped model now would run you almost $55,000 after freight.
The Tiguan in Europe has a PHEV option. Huh? Why not here? The Tucson. The front looks great, the back fine, the side profile? Whacky. Too much. Honda CRV... CVT? UGH!! 50k for the top trim? Seriously? CX50 is sharp. No hybrid? It's like Mazda is sleeping. Mitsu? I think this is the sleeper hit. Sportage. Yes, very sharp. PHEV, yes... what about durability? Seems like everybody whines about this
I had tucson 2016 (recall magnet btw) with same crappy 1.6t, can't wait for suckers when they have to put more engine oil than gas. Korean engines are pure garbage and yeah i traded in for a lexus es. Got top dollar for someone else's problem. Hyundai dealer told me to keep driving till there is no oil and it seizes that's the only way to replace the engine under warranty. Had 50k miles.
What do you guys & girls think about our list? Agree? Disagree? Let us know!
Good list! Please do a mid size version ( ex: ford edge, toyota highlander).
Agreed with the first one. I have the 2022 Sorento SX is it considered as a compact suv?

Now we need the Top 5 luxury one's and the list is complete. Good work as always!!
Genesis GV70 🤞🤞🤞
Love the hoodie!! Love when channels support other channels.
This was the video I was looking for, thank you!
I have been driving my 2015 Mitsubishi RVR daily. no any complaint, very reliable car

That intro track is 🔥🔥🔥
Getting a VW Tiguan next week. Excited! Loved the features and the drive quality when I did the test drive.

CX-50 is the better option over the CX-5 imo, your list makes absolute sense and I agree with it
Cx-50 have a rougher driver terrain it’s not for everyone
yeah this is a no lmao . cx-5 definitely better
The Sportage Hybrid is the one I would go for. Nice pick!

The tiguan does have a hybrid option
I agree with your list completely but never thought Outlander would be in the place of a RAV4.
Yeah but to be fair it is a really good car, I got to test one for a couple of days
13:31 my favorite performance for sure 😂
I love that you did this awesome
Appreciate you
Model name you said very low volume and quickly. not even written on top and not in description.
Very honest choices ..I love it
I’m very happy with my Soul Red Mazda CX-50, albeit the preferred plus model. Kia would have been my second choice, but there’s some questionable reliability issues in my opinion.
did the exact same choice and i love it.
In all honesty, cars these days are all pretty well made so just get whatever you like. CX-50 is a fine choice too
Mazda CX-5 is the only IIHS Top Safety Pick+ in Compact SUV
Can you make this video for luxury compact suvs also?
Totally!
I love the fact that Honda CR-V is big SUV in Europe, where in US you assigned it to compact SUV :D
1.5L turbo engine in a car the size of a CRV; too small, I would avoid it for that reason (not to mention the history of coolant and oil mixing
Agreed
Would be great to provide more info in the description on the cars for disability reasons
Wow i did right to buy in August the German version Sportage
I like the look of the new CR-V
Did you miss xtrail or rogue?
Average cars, nothing special.

I'd take the Outlander all day everyday especially the new PHEV.
If these are "compact" then smthing like mazda cx-3 must be a lifted hatch?
Apparently the correct term is Sub-Compact SUVs for that class lol.
What about Peugeot suv
We can’t get Peugeot in North America unfortunately!
Yay for Kia!!! 🥰🙌🏾
Your hat got more screen time than all 5 SUVs put together.
Sportage does not have adaptive cruise control
cool review!
Kia is just so overpriced (above MSRP) due to a purposely created lack of availability
Kia has a recall every 6 months like clock work
Totally agree had Hyundai Tucson 2016 and had 7 recalls. Got rid last year, top dollar for someone else problem.

The best compact SUV is? the car that you like and you can buy 🥳.
Agree
i love kia
Our list? Whis our?
the Outlander would be near the top of my list but it has a cvt all mechanics I talk to say stay away from them
If you want an Outlander without a CVT then the new PHEV is the way to go.
No bmw?
Low key BFF shirt

The Mitsubishi is weird looking. Not a great reputation either.
Kia and Hyundai cars also unreliable
Honda CRV all the way
no
kia spor taj hahaha
Haha us Canadians say it weird.
Lose the had
Thank you for the engagement
Tiguan and Mitsucrap is garbage. Stick to a Honda or Toyota!
Friend of mine has a 2020 tiguan and the interior quality is pretty damn good, crazy how 40k CAD is considered "affordable" these days though 🥲
Did you miss xtrail or rogue?
