- When I started picking, I always wondered what this wiggly too is in all of the Chinese pick sets. Even when I knew I couldn’t imagine where it could be used. Thanks to TonyS for the awesome KESO 2000 :-)

Lock Noob Hey bud, what is the difference between the KESO and the Keso2000? I know that the original KESO has no security pins from watching steel pinnings spp and gut one. However, I have no idea if the 2000 has security pins or not. I know that you said that you felt security pins but the KESO pins often give you a misconception due to the way it is made. Great job on the raking! This is probably the only way I could see the possibility of getting it open for myself. Keep up the good work my friend!

Dimple locks designed with 2 or 3 ways of pins and no warding are the most popular in china in 2000-2008. And this is what for it. But there are smiley all around after 2010. This rake in nowday's pickset is more like a legacy

Very nice lock... and the pick is the same type of pick that comes with the Kaba specialty rake picks too. But these are rakes and you must be over the whole SPP is the only picking, type thing. And moved onto an open is an open, there are so many that will not consider anything else besides SPP. It is kinda sad but all in all, if this helps just one person realize that an open is an open.
I used my same style pick to rake open a standard Sargent Keso mortise. Works phenomenally!!!! Just find the pick that fits and works in the lock.

Steel Pinnings good post my friend. Yes, an open is an open completely, I guess for me I SPP because I like the challenge of it but I have made a deal with myself that I would do more raking In my vids alongside the SPP this year :-)
Totally agree. I definitely feel more of a sense of achievement when I can SPP a lock and always try that first but open is open...

I have seen a video of good dimple lock rakes. The youtuber successfully opened many locks with a variety of those rakes. He used a technique totally different then most people. He inserted the rake under the pins, then twisted the rake in a rocking motion. He never scrubbed with a rake. Clearly different techniques for different locks.

I find it easy to rake security pins, I keep really light tension, to the point its only just about twisting the barrel to the end and keep it there. I don't even notice the security pins when raking.

I was surprised when I first did it too, Meme on UKLS said I was the first person ever to open a lock with a "washboard rake", but obviously he was joking :D
Happy to see you getting some fun out of yours too. Knowing that lock very well, I think it was the front upstairs pin that was holding you up, and after a quick rake of either side, you need to really rake the top row of pins for a fast open - at least that is what happens with my rake.

TonyS Locks there was a pin right at the back that was. Bound and, I think, in a false set. I could feel it and it was hard to rake. Given more time, I recon I could get the technique down as I'm not a massively experienced or skilled raker tbh. Thank you again for the lock though, it's awesome :-)

Lock Noob sometimes they pop very fast, in under 10 seconds, but I think my rake is a bit different. I take a second or two on the left, then turn the rake around and do the right, then run it along the top and it should open. If not, I reseat and try again. Usually it will open after the first try or two.

Most of the Chinese dimple rakes are just to massive to fit into the keyway. Bill did a video on how to narrow them up. But as usual noobster another great video. Thank you.

I have seen these only in the crappy Chinese pick sets but didn't want to buy a set just for this rake. May have to bight the bullet and fork out the dosh.😁 I didn't think you'd get a Keso open so now I want to try my luck. Thanks Mr Noob man!😎✌
You can get one in a Secure Pro pick set for about £3 delivered from various Chinese emporiums :-)
Good work on the Keso.. I like those type of rakes I first started using them on Dimple Padlocks with good results, I also opened a Dimple Master Lock with a can of chili lol I have a video of that....

1. All the small pins and springs shoot into the keyway and make life extremely difficult. I mean, really bad, lol

Interesting and a bit frightening. Was the bitting quite flat on your KESO?
Potti314 I wish I had the key to tell. Looking inside the chamber once picked, it looks relatively flat with some exceptions, but hard to judge. I doubt I'll ever gut the thing looking at other gutting videos, it genuinely looks like a horrible task lol :-)
It only has 10 active pins, but I have raked 7 different Keso 2000s open with these rakes.
At one point I was given a whole boxfull from a guy at work
I’m so shit at rake picking. I just can’t seem to get the feel for it. SPP I’m actually ok at, it’s slower and with finer movements, so for me is easier to track and get feedback. I saw you rake the ABUS and was so impressed. I can only open the ABUS doing SPP. Do you have any general tips for successful rake picking?
Raking is in so,e ways as skilful as picking and requires just as much practice. You do need to make sure that you use lighter tension though :-)

Nice opening but I wonder if it would be more sure, quicker and easier with flags, hooks or diamond picks.
This was raked in under 2 min, with only one practice other spp picking videos of the Keso lead me to believe that it’s a tough pick :-)
I was just glad to know what lock that pick would be of any use for. I’d taken it out of my day carry but maybe I’ll toss it back in now.

It’s just such an odd thing. Someone commented that older Chinese dimples used to able to be raked this way hence the smiley keyways now :-)
Lock Noob I guess when I think about it if it was thinned out it would be similar to like a wave take .... Maybe for the smiley key ways one could just slim down both sides till it can fit into the middle notch ? 🤔

I don’t think there are trap pins in this. Full 360 shouldn’t be too challenging :-)

i would be interested in such a rake but it cannot be ccp chinese made . Any suggestions? Watching closely i could see it was skill rather than the pick.
I'm asking myself what is the point to pick that KESO 2000 and at the same time avoid to turn it to (over) 90 degrees - surely because of some mean stuff in there - but that means you are not able to really open this lock, if you do not turn the core around...so what it the achievement then?
You can use a plug spinner to rotate the lock once picked

Wriggle is a lateral wave form and jiggle introduces random rotations to the wriggle ;-)
