So was I. I found it this track unbelievably and positively futuristic, like neon light turned into music. And today, summer 2023, it still feels the same.

That was the standard practice for music programmes like these. It was started in America by Dick Clark back in the 1950’s on his long-running American Bandstand music programme. It was done to prevent performers from doing anything that may potentially offend the viewers or advertising sponsors.

They are not even trying to play their instruments very convincingly. The keyboardist is playing the sampled vocals on the synthesizer, connected to nothing.
Back then, people watched television programmes mainly when they aired live, so they weren’t necessarily designed to be documented and out there forever and analysed with constantly.

J'avais 11 ans a cette époque, c'était vraiment bien les années 80, l'insouciance, la sécurité, les gens sortaient, se parlaient, dansaient, il y avait encore une douceur de vivre en France a cette époque.
Je paierais cher pour remonter le temps et revivre ma vie en boucle de 1978 a 1987 non stop!
Déjà pour les musiques, les fringues, le BMX, le walkman, le passage au CD puis le DAT
La seul chose que j'ai gardé des années 80 hormis les souvenirs ce sont les synthés et boite a rythmes et les platines vinyles/K7/DAT de cette époque.
