He got it off his traditional family, which favored boys over girls. Here's my added ending. Peter's awful father, Jon, is seen seething mad when he finds out he was left alone at a nursing home. Peter is visiting him with the same anger in his eyes. Jon: You can't be serious about abandoning me without knowing my grandson. I raised you well. Peter: It serves you right. What you did to my mom was unforgivable. You could've accepted my sister and been happy for us. You didn't want that unless it was another son. Jon: What are girls good for other than selling them off to be married, having babies and being housekeepers?! They're useless and a waste of space. Boys are the future and do more than girls. Peter: That is the kind of poor behavior that led me to this, you awful SOB. You never raised me right. If you have, you would've taught me that girls are just as good as boys. You abused me to the point that you hated us. It took mom that long to divorce and leave you. I'm not going to subject my son to your selfish whims. I will protect my family from you. You deserve this and more. You traumatized me and mom for so long that you stopped caring about making us happy. You only thought of yourself. My wife, Samantha, she was raised by a single father after her mom left for her side guy. Tom meets a wonderful woman in Chloe, and they marry. The families are seen happy together during their get togethers. Jon is seen sadly looking away and heading back to the nursing home. His remorse came too late and is living with the guilt of his mistakes.

He's got toxic masculinity up the wazoo and could never accept he he didnt father a boy. After we divorced, he remarried and his second wife gave him another girl! He hated it when he was reminded that it is the man's sperm which determines the gender..... to this day he has never sired a boy child which is best for all concerned. Hes been estranged from all his daughters for over 20 years. No big loss. I never had any more children but I did marry a man who has a daughter he adores, and adores my daughters as well.
I think it’s deplorable that Peter’s Mom aborted her daughter because her husband didn’t want a girl. It would have been better if the girl was adopted by another family. What does that say about Peter’s parents marriage? How long did Samantha think she could keep the truth from her husband?

Peter's father should be ashamed of himself for forcing Peter's mom to abort her daughter because he didn't accept her,at least Peter chose to be a different person and accepted his daughters because they are his children, good for him and his wife Samantha.
