I'd never heard of pinioning a bird. Thats like cutting the legs off a cat or dog so they don't run away...totally horrific. I can't even wrap my head around why this would be done.
Its a selfish and cruel act ! If you are going to have a pet, have it as it is (spay/neuter the exception) and as it does. I only found the Cockatoo channels a few days ago and really had no idea just how sentient, affectionate, funny, intelligent... they are. I know that with some birds people "clip" parts of the feathers to discourage flight, but not in a cruel way (like grooming a dog or cat). I had no idea that they were being purposely and permanently maimed and crippled. I have always had cats and refused outright to de-claw them because they are in almost constant pain, and can't say or do anything about it. And the other abuses they are victims of... I can't wrap my head around it either. I'd love to wrap a tire iron around the heads of people who do abuse animals...

the scariest bit to me was how quiet he was. he literally and physically has no voice. it made me really sad to see a bird that broken. I hope he finds happiness wherever he goes.
Yeah, cats have that mental problem of "What am I gonna do if something happens to come at me,I cant run up a tree,I can't defend myself.." And birds it's "if something comes after me,I cant fly away from it,wtf am I gonna do?" And both cats and birds live with the PTSD,of the memory of the physical pain this barbaric act had caused and the mental turbulence they went through knowing that humans did this to them. These animals live with quite mental toll.
this should be illegal! So sad that it needs to be though, like you say, what kind of VET would agree to do that???? I mean if you really feel the need to clip their wings, then do that & it achieves the same thing, but without the pain & mutilation. There's no reason for this! I've never even heard of it being done in my country! I can't imagine any vet here would do it
I just did a little research, apparently where I live, primarily terrestrial birds are permitted to have it done in certain exhibition settings, so a zoo can do it with flamingoes, so as to prevent them flying out of the enclosure, meaning they can then provide a far bigger enclosure, with no overhead caging. It's not permitted in any bird that doesn't naturally spend the majority of it's time on the ground or water though, so absolutely no way is it legal to do on a cocky!
I can’t imagine pinioning a birds wings. How cruel. I have 3 umbrella cockatoos and one macaw. All except my first cockatoo, whom I bought, are rescues. One cockatoo came from a terrible situation and it took nearly two years of hard work to get him to where he is easily handled. He still gets frightened easily though. I love my birds and I’ve had all of them for over 30 years now.
So thankful to know these feather babies are safe and cared for now. These birds are beautiful, amazing creatures. I don't understand how anyone could put them through such torture and mutilation.
This is horrendous! I never even knew this type of thing existed! Someone removing a birds bones from his wings???!! That’s like removing someone’s bones from their arms!
I didn't know Thomas had gone through this as well, and I can't believe it's still legal to perform such a cruel operation. I hope for Romeo that he finds trust through love, and finds not everyone is out to hurt him. I also am so grateful Thomas has you, and it's clear he trust and loves you very much.
Thomas has seizures and suffers from PTSD from the botch job. Mr. Bueno has come a very long way. When I rescued him he would hiss at me in his cage when I walked into the room. He was terrified of humans and hands! Poor Romeo has so much healing to do.
April, and that is why Thomas is the luckiest lilac crown to have found you! So sorry to hear he has seizures as well, it's heartbreaking. Now he appears to trust you completely, tries to talk and loves to hang out, it's a miracle in my book.

The vet I work for refuses to pinion wings, declaw cats or any other procedure Doc calls mutilation surgery. These procedures according to her violate the first tenet of medicine. "Do no harm."
My aging cat who I had for 23 years ended up with a really terrible voice - she had a really rough voice already as a young cat, so you can imagine what it was like when she was old - and she was loud, but never in our dreams did we ever think about doing anything to her vocal cords just because she was loud with a terrible sounding meow - it's like just mutilating a child who is misunderstood or different, because it's inconvenient to others. This sort of ''convenient'' way, or w/e sadist way, of mutilating animals should be illegal.
The ONLY circumstance that I can think of that it was ok to declaw a cat was pretzel on vet ranch and that was ONLY her already crippled leg because her claws kept getting caught in rugs and other stuff but she was already paralyzed in that leg anyway so she did get a better quality of life after that BUT it’s never EVER ok otherwise
So, so sad. I'm a dog mum but I love most creatures of this planet. My heart is in pain watching poor birds or animals being tortured. Indeed, some humans don't deserve to have the pure and unconditional love of these wonderful creatures. I would so much wish, in the same way as these animals have been tortured, these cruel people receive the same torture.

Birds are meant to fly. It’s unbelievably cruel to take that away from them. I hope Romeo can recover enough emotionally to still have good quality of life.
Romeo is such a sweet baby and it makes me so sad to see him so scared and obviously scarred for life. He’s definitely going to have a better life now with you. I hope one day he won’t even remember what happened to him and he can just enjoy being his cute sweet self.💕
I feel like a monster when I put my birds in a different room when I'm not having it with their screaming during migraine season and meanwhile there are people out there cutting their birds wings off.
You see, THAT is what separates you from the REAL monsters. Even if you're too ill to be in the same room with your birds, at least YOU'RE not the kind of person to undergo what should be considered criminal operations.
What you do is totally fine. Migraines can be horrible, I got a migraine problem but also have an African Ringneck. She screams sometimes lmao. I understand your pain and you shouldn't feel bad for it
I wish people like her would put in the same amount of time, energy, money, and love to the homeless. Tons of money is being spent on animals when it could be helping people.
I still shocks me every time I see how cruel people can be to the most colorful, beautiful and talented of all species-Birds. My heart aches for them. 😔😔
I’m about to rescue an abused bird for the first time (I’ve rescued other animals before) and I admire your level of compassion and understanding. It takes patience and a lot of love to help a frightened soul.
It's like cutting off someone's arms up to shoulder, since wings are arms, specialized for flying Hearing about the practice for the first time in my life, why would someone willingly mutilate a bird like that, that's insane
THANK GOD for you, and your patient love for this poor baby. Thank you for being an angel to this pretty boy. (And I’m sure other birdy babies, too.) 😘🙏🏼🦜
Thank you for all you do! We’ve had our umbrella cockatoo for over two years now and still getting to know his many different personalities. God knows what they’ve been through is right, I’ve made the lifetime commitment because of the high chances of these birds getting abused just because of the screaming factor which is just part of their nature and takes a special human/family to endure them with love 💕 God bless all you cockatoo owners! xoxo
How cruel. Birds are meant to fly. I rescued a Senegal when her owner no longer wanted her after 12 years. She was in poor condition and had never flown a day in her life from constantly having her wings clipped. When her flight feathers finally grew back in she didn't know how to fly. It took a while but she is happy and healthy and now knows the joy of flight.
God bless him. I lost my sweet parrot I had for 24 years a week ago. We had her since birth. I hurts my soul how people can be so cruel to these beautiful and intelligent animals. Thank you for being so kind to him and saving him.
As an Australian, it saddens me deeply that our beautiful native birds are taken away from this country and put into environments where they don't have access to the flora and fauna that they need, kept as pets and abused like this poor bird was. Here in aus, very little people actually own cockatoos unless they're injured and need rehabilitation.cockatoos should never ever be kept as pets, they belong here in Australia and other Oceanic countries that they are native to. Thank you for looking after this precious bird!
Poor Romeo I can see in his eyes he had a tough run already in the short time he has lived so far God bless and I wish Romeo all the best in the times to come😔😔😌😌😌😌👍👍♥️♥️♥️
You're a hero luv. Our animal brothers and sisters need us too. Devils don't care who or what they hurt. I had no idea what the pinion thing was but that made my mouth drop finding out. So sad. I hope Romeo comes out of his shell eventually
I wish I could pin this people's arms see how they like it. Bless those birds hearts 💕! I love my baby and could never hurt or let her be hurt by anyone! For that matter any bird of I can help it. God Bless y'all for helping and caring for those precious babies.
It is so sad that someone would do that to an animal. I can't believe people think that it is ok to do something like this to such amazing and majestic animals. I hope he becomes more comfortable and not so scared. You can tell that inside he really wants to be good and to be a normal cockatoo but he is just so scared. I would love to see an update on him after this whole quarantine is over.
Thank you for looking after these beautiful babies, I would love to get my hands on these monsters who hurt these beautiful birds or any animal in fact, these babies have someone who loves and cares for them, and that I'm grateful for. With love and best wishes to you all. 🐦🐦🐦🐦♥️♥️♥️♥️
you're amazing, you treat him with so much respect and still have hope for him despite the trauma he's carrying. it really restores my faith in humanity to see people like you doing what they do - because they actually care for these animals. god bless, i hope your life is filled with love and happiness.
Chloe, I'm writing a fantasy book series that involves birds, both real and made up, and I wanted to know more about them for accuracy. I had no IDEA that this was real or was even legal. Now I know I'm going to put this in my book to educate people about birds and show the harm it does to them. Both physically and mentally. Thank you for sharing!!
@@Clawsome-Clips a fantasy book about birds sounds so magical! I hope the publishing will come true and thank you for caring for these sweet animals and giving them a much needed spotlight ♥️✨
I actually left the room to watch this so my lovebird wouldn't see or hear it. Removing bone from their wings is a thing??? How horrible! That's just like cutting bone out of a person's arms so they can't use them properly! As someone who can't bring themselves to give a bird more discipline than "can you please not do that?" Or "do you need a few minutes in your cage to compose yourself?" this kind of treatment is just beyond my capacity to understand. I've seen various people visit Don before, and I know poor Romeo is getting all the love and understanding he should have had his whole life now that he's at the Chloe Sanctuary
I contribute by using Amazon Smile when I buy from Amazon and putting the Chloe Sanctuary as my charity. Its free. I hope more people will sign up at Amazon Smile for the Chloe Sanctuary. Wish I could do more but I'm on disability.
@@Kenny-jw4su With all due respect, not some but most people. Largest parasites in the world. Mankind. Fortunately, there are also good sympathetic people in the world who are concerned with nature and all their wonderful beautiful creatures. Otherwise it would be much worse than it already is. And it's worse than it should be already.
The poor guy, my heart breaks for him. Pets getting mutilated for the convenience of their owner is just wrong. I really do hope you can help him find some peace and give him the best of the rest. You have a big heart ❤️ Why is Romeo afraid of cameras, reflection or scary shaped? I know the history of a rescued pet can be difficult or impossible to know their full story
I was watching "Coco" the cockatoo on it's channel,, and he was apparently mistreated to the point where it was chewing and pulling it's own feathers out (like some people cut themselves). I don't know how "people" can do this

Thank you so much for saving and loving those birds.
Thank you God bless u
I still shocks me every time I see how cruel people can be to the most colorful, beautiful and talented of all species-Birds. My heart aches for them. 😔😔
These are fine people, who deserve enormous respect for their humane work.
Bless this place for taking care of romeo💔💕💓💕💖💗💔💗💖
💚🙏
💖🕊💖. Thank you for rescuing Romeo, you are a beautiful kind person no animals should be abused or neglected. 💖🕊💖
I’m about to rescue an abused bird for the first time (I’ve rescued other animals before) and I admire your level of compassion and understanding. It takes patience and a lot of love to help a frightened soul.
Jesus, that's like cutting off someone's thumbs so they can't grab things.
It’s like cutting off someone’s arms
Legs to be exact
@@idkman8962 I’d compare it to arms, since the bird can still walk.
Its what should happen too people if they remove bird wings. Its what they deserve
It's like cutting off someone's arms up to shoulder, since wings are arms, specialized for flying
Hearing about the practice for the first time in my life, why would someone willingly mutilate a bird like that, that's insane
😢 poor baby , God bless you for being his comfort , and thank you for knowing he had enough and taking him back in 🙏🏼💙
THANK GOD for you, and your patient love for this poor baby. Thank you for being an angel to this pretty boy. (And I’m sure other birdy babies, too.) 😘🙏🏼🦜
Thank you for your work! What a beautiful bird 😊
Thank you for watching 💚
I want to give this poor soul the gentlest hug. Thank you for taking care of him after everything
So very sad, you just cannot comprehend how some people can be so evil 😢 😞
God bless you and your sanctuary 🙏 🙌 ❤
Don Scott is just amazing what he does for the birds at his sanctuary. ❤
Thank you for all you do! We’ve had our umbrella cockatoo for over two years now and still getting to know his many different personalities. God knows what they’ve been through is right, I’ve made the lifetime commitment because of the high chances of these birds getting abused just because of the screaming factor which is just part of their nature and takes a special human/family to endure them with love 💕 God bless all you cockatoo owners! xoxo
Your cockatoo is blessed you be with you.
God bless you, may you be rewarded InshaAllah.
Thank you for saving a life!
@T Shaffer ... Exactly. Accept the animal (whatever it is) as it is and as it does. Otherwise don't have one
Poor baby. Thank you for helping him to live as happy life as possible x
Praying for this baby ❤️ he’s in good hands now
God bless him. I lost my sweet parrot I had for 24 years a week ago. We had her since birth. I hurts my soul how people can be so cruel to these beautiful and intelligent animals. Thank you for being so kind to him and saving him.
It’s going to take so long to earn his complete trust and help him regain his confidence. I’m glad he has someone like you willing to put in the time.
I'm glad he's connecting with you. He just reminds you of a baby. You just want to cuddle him and make him feel safe
God bless all those beauties and all the people working for them . .❤️
Poor Romeo I can see in his eyes he had a tough run already in the short time he has lived so far God bless and I wish Romeo all the best in the times to come😔😔😌😌😌😌👍👍♥️♥️♥️
💚🙏
You're a hero luv. Our animal brothers and sisters need us too. Devils don't care who or what they hurt. I had no idea what the pinion thing was but that made my mouth drop finding out. So sad. I hope Romeo comes out of his shell eventually
I’m sorry I can’t watch but it’s a miracle he was rescued by you Angels at Parrot Playhouse. Thankyou so much
The Chloe Sanctuary rescued this beautiful boy. I just told his story. 💚🙏
Thank you for caring for these babies! Romeo is an angel from God, and I know you are blessed to have him!
I'm crying, I'm so glad Romeo had you guys to take care of him and nurture him ❤ thank you for all you do!
💚
How can anyone abuse a bird?
Thank goodness for this sanctuary.
I wish I could pin this people's arms see how they like it. Bless those birds hearts 💕! I love my baby and could never hurt or let her be hurt by anyone! For that matter any bird of I can help it. God Bless y'all for helping and caring for those precious babies.
I have a big heart for parrot’s & Thank You! For all that you do for them ♥️💕
Romeo deserves all the love🥺 I'm praying for him
Thank you 💚
You are a God send to these beautiful birds! Thank you for doing what you do!! God bless! 🙏🏽
I can't wait for this quarantine to be over and visit the birds. I will do an update for sure.
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel me either! Yay! Thank you! I can't wait to see all of them!
This hurts my heart so much. Thank-you so much for helping these beautiful babies feel safe again 🥺🥺
Your book sounds amazing!
@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel I'll send you a copy if it gets published.
@@Clawsome-Clips a fantasy book about birds sounds so magical! I hope the publishing will come true and thank you for caring for these sweet animals and giving them a much needed spotlight ♥️✨
Our Angels! Thank you so much for saving them!
Thank God for Don!!
I contribute by using Amazon Smile when I buy from Amazon and putting the Chloe Sanctuary as my charity. Its free. I hope more people will sign up at Amazon Smile for the Chloe Sanctuary. Wish I could do more but I'm on disability.
@@AEArato me too, on both counts
Exactly right. Cud u imagine? Its like a sadistic serial killer torture- sometimes i hate humans for the evil they do so casually.
@@AEArato i will donate that way too from now on - i just skip that part of Amazon, i didnt kno- now i do:)
I am so sorry this happened to him! Bless you all for the work you do for animals! Anna UK. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Imagine you were in a world that constantly attacks you but somebody amputated your arms... that’s how he feels.
Thank God for ppl like you
What the hell is wrong with people to do that
Arrogance and stupidity- in EQUAL measure.
@@nemo7782 👍
Some people are like cancer to this
Planet (sorry)
they think they are above everything because they are human.. people that do this are the same people that claim animals have no soul..
Thank you for what you do
The poor guy, my heart breaks for him. Pets getting mutilated for the convenience of their owner is just wrong. I really do hope you can help him find some peace and give him the best of the rest. You have a big heart ❤️
Why is Romeo afraid of cameras, reflection or scary shaped? I know the history of a rescued pet can be difficult or impossible to know their full story
Give that darling angel as many kisses as possible, and tell him how much God loves him because He sent you to him!🙏❤️🐈
Now I have tears in my eyes and running down my cheeks. It's so heart-warming💞🦅
Thank ya'll for having such a big heart and saving these beautiful birds.
What kind of monster would do this to a bird? Thank you for rescuing him and the other birds, and for being so kind and understanding to him.
I almost couldn’t even watch after seeing Thomas’s wings ... that was just so heart breaking. shame on those people!
It breaks my heart to see the struggles in Thomass's life because of what was done to him.
I was watching "Coco" the cockatoo on it's channel,, and he was apparently mistreated to the point where it was chewing and pulling it's own feathers out (like some people cut themselves). I don't know how "people" can do this
