When ever I see a discrepancy between the pics and the description I send the seller a message and find out which item they are selling before I bid. I'm sure its hard to track and verify all your pics and ads when some sellers have hundreds of items listed. Many just reuse the same template for multiple items and sometimes the pic gets over looked, especially if the person renewing the ad isn't familiar with the item being listed.
I legitimately messed up recently on a slot car auction on ebay recently. Though my description said a car came with the original case and insert (as many of the cars I listed did,) one in particular did not. My pictures showed the true story, and the buyer double checked with me before buying and I confirmed it did not come with a case. It is easy to mix things up between listings if you have more than a handful of similar items. Of course my intention was never to mislead a buyer, as I am a hobbiest and collector in the same boat as all of my fellow hobbiest/collectors! It worked out fine in the end, but to anyone who wishes to be a legitimate seller of vintage collectable items....be sure to dot your i's and cross your t's! And if you don't have deep knowledge about a particular item, don't pretend that you do! I always find that honesty goes a long way towards getting a fair price for both you and the buyer.
@@bobby7987 Hey Bobby, well stated indeed Sir. Selling or buying, everyone has flubbed up, right? As you stated, just be honest, do your very best to find an amicable solution. I am totally congruent with that, thanks for the view and comment!!
Some of the "top rated" eBay sellers that have been doing it for many, many years are the worst to buy from. In my life I have done over 1500 eBay transactions. Both buying and selling. I'm very careful when buying but even so, about 4 out of 10 that I buy are not as described. These days I mostly buy from slotcar raceways that list and other hobbyists. Have also found that new sellers are generally more trustworthy than those long time sellers that are really just profiteers. Some of them get their inventory on eBay. They will outbid you on desirable items and then list it for 2,3 or even more times the price they paid. See this regularly. Just remember that whatever it is you want, another will come along. Sooner or later. No reason to overpay or buy from a seller you suspect may be a con. Read their feedback and try to read "between the lines" keeping in mind that feedback is only a clue, it isn't very reliable. I have seen more than a few that have excellent feedback, even 100% positive that can't be trusted.
Hey Craig, you have to give credit to eBay, they stepped right in and got it handled very smoothly. Take care Craig, let me know if you need anything, see ya!!
had issues with buying treasure hunt hot wheels with miss leading photo or description. took a month but got my money returned from seller with ebays help.
Hey Roy, I'm not gonna let this mishap drive me away from eBay. The irony is, this has actually happened to me. I once put the wrong pictures with the wrong description. It wasn't until a potential bidder spotted it, told be about it and I had to take the auction down and relist it properly. Plus the seller does have excellent ratings across the board with eBay. My caution is: just be careful when bidding. Roy, always good to hear from you, thanks for checking in!!
@@royburris4126 Hey Roy, Sucks being burnt like that, ya know it?! I still think the overwhelming majority of people on eBay want their transaction to go well. If he doesn't make good the refund, I guess I'll have a Riviera to clean up and restore. We'll see. Have fun Roy, see ya!!

It is nice that eBay will step in when issues occur.
Take care Steve, let me know if you need anything.
I know this is an older video. But what happened in the end?
