@@ABYSSHeadphones Hi DMS :)
I don't even know what I'm listening for, but this is one hell of a banger.
Same
It's literally telling you
when he rings the triangle and slaps the box its like a god has jizzed in my ears. Also the ending with the beautiful range test the bell was magnifico
@@halolander8373 nerd
yeah legit stayed for the good music
A guided version of this for beginners would be cool. Where you help / explain what to listen for, where to focus the attention. Similar to the „Dynamic Test“ explanation .
Its depends on you , what you are looking for on your headphones . different people will have different opinion on the same headphones .
Well the soundstage is basically "what's on stage": Imagine being on a concert and you see every instrument playing, you could probably focus on the drummer and just hear him, focus on the bass and hear just him out. This is basically what happens with a good headphone, you can just hear every part of the music as a whole. The imaging means the position of your sound. You can see how sound is being played from different angles and different heigths - close your eyes, could you tell where everything was? I agree with you some context would be nice, though. By the way, I'm certainly no expert in audio so it's just a very rough try of making you understand what the first things were for, I might be wrong here and there though lol
Basically, if your headphones are good enough then this won't really be a question. If you listened on the HD 660 S Like I am now, you will hear everything you see on screen with positional precision, because the HD 660 S has amazing imaging. Imaging allows you to tell you where things are physically in the room recording.
So, it's not that you watch the video and are looking for something. You're testing your headphones' ability to reproduce what you see on screen with positional precision.
@@ChaseMiracleborn Good imaging, but not exceptionally good sound stage. Most sounds were very intimate. Though I prefer this because I listen to ASMR.
I open this video for ASMR ))))))))
And then I listen some music, and ASMR effect continuous!
4:26 IMGAGING
Welp. That’s what happens when one guy works on a video this big 😅
im gagging
Me too.
Man those voices in the background of the bass staging test get me looking around every time.
Same
Me too, also the klicking noises on the right side when the bass gets in distance.
So satisfying looking the guy working hard walking around so that we can test the imaging on our headphones, thanks alot!
The imaging test is really satisfying and comfortable, i could sleep listening to that
Do you have a lossless (.flac or .wav) version of this? looking forward to test it with a couple of my cans
Yes, I really would like to have this as well!
Unfortunately it has licensed music from Epidemic Sounds - highly unlikely that we’ll get this
It's linked in the video description :)
@@ABYSSHeadphones what a treat. Thank you. I'll be hearing it on the ab1266tc one day.
@@elba_magellan and one day I'll be listening on my Diana Phi.
That directional test was freaky! Thanks for the lossless version too!
Best asmr ever for imaging test
wow this is one of the best audio tests I've seen on YT thus far!
This has made me appreciate my Hifiman Aryas even more, thanks! I hope I get to try (at least) one of the Abyss headphones one day!
Listening this with my Diana Phi and comparing with my other headphones, all I can says Diana has so many details that other lower priced headphone cannot reproduce. Totally worth it, bravo Diana Phi
The linked file is brilliant. Parts of it gave chills down my spine
got the diana phi today and it is just incredible! The bass ... I have never heard anything like it before. It is worth every cent!
This is the best audio test by a long shot, thank you!
I personally want to say thankyou for all of your efforts to make this video👍
Honestly there is more need of these test, especially for people who are either young or just dont have a lot of money to try out different gear that much this is more informing than a 1000 long post
It would also be nice to have a distortion test, especially in the bass. The very detailed bass is one of the many strengths of your headphones.
This is great material, thanks guys. One day when I finally have my own ABYSS headphones I’ll return here for the test.
Mee toooooo
Did you got ABYSS now?
4:10 you can near someone talking, I thought someone was outside my damn window and had to keep pausing it bc it freaked me out. After rewinding like 20 time I finally realized it was picked up in the recording
It's a haunting recording, will teach you to listen:).

I was hearing there were people outside but this was just in the track.
I know he works there, but it's still surreal seeing DMS here

DMS😀, great video, I am more and more interested in your work since that positive review of Hifiman 5xx, through which this video is now listened to. Thank you for some new music authors to me.
tried this out on my xm4's plugged in and it did awesome in every test - i am pleasantly surprised. Dynamic range was great and I could tell each direction on the directional accuracy-test too
Get some koss kph 30is for 30 bucks. the imaging for the price is insane
This was a really nice and well done project.
This is the most complete audio test video, appreciate your work and time. Subscribed and shared
testing my beyerdynamic dt 990 pros with this and they sound amazing. the differences with the first soundstage test were more subtle but the second one was almost mind blowing
im using the dt770s and experiensed the same thing LMAO
@@aidencates3553here with some ancient 770s, can confirm.
I have some 990s arriving next week so I'll have to see the difference.
The songs in the vocal tests have, without a doubt THE BEST vocal quality I've ever heard in a song. I didn't even know my headphones were capable of vocals that good until now. Why do these vocals just sound SO ALIVE compared to the vast majority of music ??? Why don't more songs have vocals like this ?
amazing recording equipment id assume 🤷
Most songs are tuned to sound good on crappy car stereos, elevator speakers, mobile phones and crappy equipment in general. So the majority of music is not alive as they are not mixed and recorded to sound alive.
@@RaindancerAU Thanks for the info!
I think these tracks are recordings of very high quality speakers in a sound treated room recorded by a very high quality binaural microphone. The Binaural microphone is can be seen in the soundstage section of the video, and essentially emulates how the shape of the ear effects sound coming in. The result is a much better sense of depth compared to when normally playing music through headphones, as each ear receives a mix of both channels, rather then only one channel (which is quite unnatural).
Great public service guys! On par with the Chesky test recordings
Thanks for this. My KSC75 performs really admirably but at times I can here the driver flexing which just goes to show it’s weaknesses compared to higher end headphones.
Would love a lossless version of this soon!
Thank you once again for this!
EDIT: the lossless version fixes the driver flex issue. Must have been noise because of UA-cam compression.
Where did you get loseless version??

Wow, what a great resource to share with everyone. Thank you!
Love your choice of music!
I have been waiting for this
the sound imaging test was very helpful. listened on my shp-9500
That's perfect, thanks Abyss!
Came for the test, stayed for the smooth beats
Génial..Le meilleur test sur UA-cam. Bravo aux réalisateurs 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Wow, those Salons sound great on these AB-1266's!
Thanks for the lossless file!
I'm testing this with my Moondrop Blessing 2 IEM and I didn't realize how good the imaging on these are until this video.
Same for me, I tested my KZ ZSN Pro Xs and my Samson SR850S with this video, Both are BUDGET Audiophile heroes and both have very good imaging
@@kyejt-r yeah I have kz zsr, very cheap iems but I can even hear the height changes which blows my mind
because this was recorded in binaural audio with head shaped mic. Listen to Barber's Shop.
Just got the brand new 7hz Salnotes Zero, and goddamn these have good ass imaging for a $20 IEM
oh man tinnitus and the triangle REALLY like each other
Wow the imaging test was awesome
Best intro music I've ever heard!
What an amazing video, thank you so much.
This is ABYSS quality. Thanks.
Oh, good. I will now have to test my other nine headphones. Fun!
why I haven't found this..thank you for sharing the video and the lossless file. gonna test my headphones, IEMs and earbuds. Have a great day. Liked and subscribed.
Great test, simply amazing! My MH751 ( Takstar Pro 82 ) did extremely well in this test, would love to use this video for my K550
This is the headphone test that everyone needs. This shows you how the AB-1266 is set apart from the rest.
This is an awesome video!!!
Excellent work done bro...
Thanks for teaching us to listen carefully.
Um, what the hell did you do to that second soundstaging recording wtf it’s so good and it works on like everything
This really really really helped me
I am using a Grado SR60 and the different soundstage tests didn't really have any difference in experience for me (maybe the 6ft ones sounded louder in the first test). The imaging (directional) tests though were a different matter. I was able to make out the differences most of the time. The height changes didn't seem like height changes but rather like something moving closer v/s farther away (though my wife was able to discern those). For the vocal tests was I supposed to look out for something. I have no idea how those vocals should really sound. They of course sounded crisp and somewhere on the top of my head (or was it in front). Same with Electronic, rap and orchestra. Not sure what I was looking for, but they all sounded good to me. Dynamic range test was interesting as at the last beat of the drum, I could not hear the bell at all.
EDIT: I then tested my Beyerdynamic Soul Byrd and this time I was able to understand the sound stage on this. The directional tests were also clear. The base test did not seem all that different. The vocals sounded good, but the female vocals were not as crisp as with the SR 60s. However, I could clearly hear the sound in front of me with Byrds. With the Dynamic test, I could hear the last bell on the Byrds.
I went back to SR60 after testing the Byrds and this time I was able to understand the soundstage better on Test 1, but still feel like it's not that much different. Test 2 as much clearer. So looks like in my first attempt, I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Base sound stage wasn't all that different between wide and narrow. This time I was also able to hear the last bell during the Dynamic test.
The best sound test on UA-cam
I just got 2nd hand, Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd Gen. Man.. this video test made me in love with them...
That’s amazing test and exactly thats what i need 🌹
This is super helping me to test earphone, thanks! 👍
Appreciate the work
Thanks for this test. Now my DT990 pro and SBX G6 are fully configured 🤩
I'm so, so sorry for your ears.
Very satisfying headphone testing....thanks a lot for your video it was so usefull info for purchasing a hifi headphone
This went from testing my new headphones to asmr real quick...
!!!!!!!!
I open this video for ASMR ))))))))
And after this video I listen some music, and ASMR effect continuous!
Really underrated test
I have no idea how my headphones did. I just forgot about the test and just enjoyed the music XD
XM4 owner here! it is great, espescially once you play with the EQ to your liking, its is a bit "narrow" on the soundstage dept, still good, but not great, other than that, ANC is a big plus. yes it will still lose againts audiophile headphone in the same price range, but the features make up for it. so yeah, my conclusion is, XM4 for features(ANC, Ambient aware, Speak-to-Chat, touch controls, wireless, multi device, etc(theres a lot, even not so obvious ones)), and audioohile grade for bliss listening
man, i wanted to test these IEMs but the ASMR got me sleepy~~~
My $30 samson sr850 really passed the imaging test, the accuracy in which where the sound came from is incredible for its price provided. Not the best but very good.
I find Samsons absolutely stunning for the price, I personally suggest most AKG headphones, especially the mid-tier.
i test my $35 sr950, works really for me
I'm personally more of a fan of the sound-signature of the dt990 pro, but I hear samsons are amazing for the price
Thanks a lot sir, you're doing good.
Awesome outro track. 👏
Good job! Thank you !
Testing my Kz PR1 iem along with a Jcally JA21 DAC and the directional test is IMMACULATE!!!!!
Came in to test my hd58x, turns out i clicked on an asmr video. Came out relaxed and have forgotten i was testing my headphone. 10/10 would fall asleep to tap taps again
Awesome. Thank you.
Will test it.. 😁
Thanks a ton!
Listening to it with my new Sennheiser HD660S2 and its absolutly incredible :D. Worth every penny for sure :)
same! i bought hd 600, 650, 660s2 and hd800s to test them all. waiting for my hd800s to arrive cant wait otherwise 650 and 660s2 feels and sound the best so far bit too much clamping/tight on the head though. 660s2 have plenty of bass, then 650 then 600, overall 650 is the best but 660s2 are more comfortable
9:40 NB there is no height or depth in any two-channel recording as it cannot be conveyed with only two drivers as the sole source of sound. The sound will be continuous from left to right, but the depth will simply be mirrored to the front and the height only conveyed as tonality changes.
Ive got some moondrop variations in and can definitely tell it sounds above or below.
A great ASMR video too!
Cool stuff!
Any way of getting an uncompressed/lossless file for download? Still sounds good, but I’m sure it would be more accurate without YT conversions. Excellent video though - love the idea
It's linked in the video description :)
This was so cool
This needs its own soundtrack and cd release epic tunes.

Where can I find music like in the 2 vocal tests? I like these types of music
I can't thank you enough for this video 😭❤️
great video
My $50 earbuds never sounded better! Thank you!
Thank you. The dynamic range test was weird tho I could hear the drum and the bell mostly in my left side. Is that by design?
cca c10 performs so good.
This is great. What a nice resource.
What is the purpose of the voice tests? Should the voices retain the same clarity with instruments as solo? Or is it more about the perceived location of the vocalist relative to the instruments? Both?
The same binaural head microphone was used throughout in the recoding, not different mics for different instruments. So yes all of the above is open for comparison on playback.
Awesome!
Thanks, this just reinforced me that I have to replace my jbl headphone asap
