Prepare yourselves for the most AMAZING free flying macaws in the UK, in all their glory. Enjoy this dramatic macaw footage, as they free fly across Richmond Park in London, filling the grey skies with colour and beauty. Have you ever seen a free flying military macaw? If not then meet Missy the military. She is a beautiful free flying parrot, but is a force to be reckoned with. Stay until the end for some drama and tension and our parrots drop their beauty and fight! It's not always fun and games with pet macaws.
We were joined on this amazing free flying session with Mikey the Macaw, Rocket the macaw and Missy the military macaw.
Training a macaw to free fly is a lengthy process and should be approached with the help of a professional free flight trainer. Never take your pet parrot outside without a harness on or without teaching a macaw to free fly.
Free flying a baby macaw requires support and help and although we did it alone, we are not professional trainers and will not be able to help you with your own parrot training, however we love to offer advice and tips and share our experiences in macaw training.

I don't mind it this way on occasion, but I love hearing the birds too.
I like this style for an occasional change, but I enjoy the talking videos also.

It always looks like so much fun when you guys get together. Someday I'm going to take a trip to London (I live in the states) and stalk you guys so I could catch this in person. LOL
So much fun to watch them all just being birds!! 🥰🥰🥰So beautiful and the rainbow of colors is stunning!! 🌈🦜What do you do if birds of prey are nearby? Here in South Dakota we have these Buzzard Hawks....is what the locals call them.....but the circle a massive area and there are so many of them....but it would never be safe to takes other birds outside. Thank you so much for watching! Yes I’m pretty sure the birds of prey in the states are far more dangerous than ours. In the UK we have smaller birds of prey who could still pose a risk but the likelihood is very low. Our guys are far too fast, fly far too low and close to humans and have very scary beaks (and bright colours!). Seagulls however are horrible and bully and chase our guys 😓

It's partly about "street smarts". An indoor bird floundering about outside for the first time would look like an easy target, but when birds are fit and fast and at one with the outdoors they are less likely to look like prey. Birds of prey will tend to pick on the weak, the injured, the inexperienced, and will only go after more dangerous quarry when they are hungry and desperate. A Macaw could easily crush bones and bite off the legs of a predator if it got its beak to bear on the aggressor. That's not something a raptor would want to risk if it could avoid it.

I used to work in the park there and live nearby. I have just taken on a 10 month old harlequin and would love to train her to free fly.
Anyone local who could offer any advice and guidance would be massively appreciated
Awesome! Yes this is Richmond, there are often free flighted birds heading to Richmond park. Our friends Mikey the Macaw have a video on their channel which documents some of the best free flight trainers and courses to take. Also check out parrots of primrose hill, the owner of those birds also trains free flight. I’m happy to help and share my experiences but am not a professional.
