Been on single player the last 2 weeks re-learning how to play this game! First PC game I ever played at 7 years old and have always come back to this game every few years for the past 20 years now. Very excited!

its not over kill i have a 3800x cpu amd and a 5700xt, and a 165 hrtz montior if u love gaming go for it, i did weeks of over time at work. my d2 accounts on non ladder east have been up since 2007, i stil play a few times a month now.
Another feature they announced and you may have missed is: When zoomed in less enemy NPC's will attack. Where as if you zoom out, you see more enemies and they WILL attack.
@@BmoreGaming I did see in a video something about the games AI. It was updated because of widescreen. It was edited so enemies could see you on a 16:9 monitor. So they might have made it so the AI just knows if you can see the enemy on screen and if so they seek and attack you. If so then zoom might effect AI acquisition behavior. Even if not actually intended. It would make sense to attach the value for AI acquisition to screen zoom/visibility because this would fix it for other aspect rations like 21:9 or 32:9 as well. If you can see the enemy it can see you type situation. We will find out before the end of the year one way or the other.

It does if you use Plug Y. The added stats feature page and the IAS and FCR breakpoints for your char and mercenaries are also able to be viewed via some arrows at the bottom of the char stat screen. What I like best about it though is the ability to redistribute your stat points at any time by holding the Alt key to reduce stats in order to free up points to use elsewhere. Also you can wipe your skill points and respec at any time as well ;-)
I hope I learn to love these sounds as much as i still love the old ones. To this day my ears will perk up when I hear a similar sound just out and about my daily business and I get D2 flashbacks. I still remember every single sound Probably because I still play once in a while lol. I hope they kept some of the old sounds.
And if you ever forgot, BOOM. All gone, as if it never was, erasing not only your progress, but rendering moot the times you did save it from the void.
Yup, up until 2018 I had a museum account which had some items removed from the game as early as 2006. My PC shit the bed and didn't have the money for a new one right away. And there went almost 2 decades of D2 history.

Sadly its not even really Blizz doing any of this its Vicarious Visions that they hired outside of the company to come and and do the remaster.. I am sure Diablo devs have assisted them but, Vicarious Visions HAS DONE VERY well already on their other remasters like Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk which is why I am super hyped for this.. Had it just been Blizz I would be very very defensive on it.. I wont lie tho I do hope Blizz can do D4 very well as I would love to buy that as well one day but I wont get my hopes it too much..
I am hoping they can manage to set bind keys for secondary abilities, like the controller feature has. That way instead of hitting f1 to change ability, then right clicking, we can just cast the ability with F1 directly. Would be sweet!

I started playing Diablo 2 back in 2000 when I was 8... Fast forward 10 yrs and I had 3 bots in the same game doing 2 minute chaos/baal runs. I used to have free item games and free rushes with my mules, so much fun :-)
I'd rather they keep the ladders at 6 months. In D2 you play a lot of different characters with different purposes. Why try to increase player engagement when players still play ladder to this day...
4 months is already pretty long tbh. but a 2-3 month might be too short. . . keep in mind i'm biased. the start of a season is what I enjoy the most. then the middle spam farming part. . and then pvp is my 2nd favorite afterwards.
Unless there are some incentives, the season means nothing. And I don't like the idea to keep season long. If you want to try new class or build, you can do it in a new season.

The only reason i used to play ladder was because Mf run in non ladder aren't as lucrative since the most expensive items are ladder only. Ladder will force you to make a Sorceress from scratch every 3 months and have tons of leftovers Sorceress and gear items at the end of each season pretty dumb :( Ladder would require a 2x loot drop or something or ladder items being able to drop in non ladder from now on.

If they don't get the bugs out and advantages created from bugs, it'll ruin it. I know there will be a lot going into bot prevention and stuff, so we will see! A real good idea would be path of exiles idea for more open options in trading. Create a real trading post either in Bnet or link from bnet app that brings you to selections. I know there will be real money used still via jsp or w/e, but poe really has success with that system. It would allow you to trade via games normally still as well.

don't know if anyone have already made a notice but i think you should add as new implementation the availability of Shift + Left Click on an item will place it in chat (when chat is open for type) so other players in that game can see the item you shared so there is no need to do trade in order to show off your items that you wear or want to trade

He just rips you to him thru a portal with his hand coming thru it and yanking you thru and on the other side it starts by DClone back handing your char right before the fight starts...
Yeah, only reason anni's were so common on bnet was because of dupes and other manipulation. If they buckle down on that stuff, which they should, then anni's will be worth 100 hrs. I would have liked to see drop rate increases. Without bots a lot of common things will be worth multiple hrs and everyone basically has to start a sorc every ladder because unlike the mods, there is like 3 viable characters for end game.
They should consider making the AI for summons, traps and hydras etc. smarter so they do not attack enemies that are immune to their attacks/element. This would reduce /avoid some of the performance problems that could occur. Simple fix. Big improvement

All of these features were 100% necessary and totally awesome. I am now officially pumped for this game. My favorite inclusions are the zoom, shared stash, and the change in character expiration. One of the biggest things that bothered me about Diablo 2 was that when I would take a break from the game I would come back with all my characters gone, really made me not want to bother starting over and made me feel like I was wasting my time.
But they haven't touched merc or summon AI, and the connection issues with old bnet. I would much prefer those get fixed than something silly like zooming in and out.
Ah good ol' days when you had characters like "MULE01, MULE02" and so on. Sometimes you would create a private game to transfer stuff and then... internet would disconnect. Your hands got sweaty, the adrenaline trying to reconnect before your precious cargo went to a limbo... only to discover that the ISP was the real problem and then you would enter a spiral of disbelief and freak out, crying yourself to sleep. Only to wake up and do it all over again. FUN!
I've lost 5 accounts worth of characters all loaded with characters because of long breaks or computers breaking and not being replaced soon enough. So many times have I felt this. But no longer.
I think a 4 month ladder rotation would be a bit better, as it wouldn't feel like an overwhelming pace for more casual players and would be frequent enough that the more hardcore players can get into the climb more often.

This looks insanely good, in my opinion SO MUCH better than Diablo 4. I wish they made D4 more with this type of dark and gloomy style, but very clear and straight forward graphic style

D2 was the best. I fondly remembered having a necro with the super rare summoning armor that enabled him to summon so many minions it was easy to solo the final boss.
I built a poison necro one time. Had some rare goodies, major buffs on weapons and such. I think my poison nova did either 6 or 900 a sec....cant remember exactly....it was pretty extreme even though he is the weakest in a pvp situation. I suprised a few people with my poison,
You REAAALLLY had to grind to get 99 even doing solo Nihl & Diablo and topping Baal. It would take 8-12 weeks doing 100+ runs a day to 99 after a new reset. Without botting it is a massive commitment to get 99. If they make it 3-4 months per reset and it takes as long to gain the same amount of exp as D2 originally had... 99 for legit players on ladder is pretty much impossible if you work full time or have any life whatsoever. That's 2-3 months of only playing one character and grinding the hell out of it. You wouldn't be able to build multiple chars like you said. I agree, 6 months is the right length.
1 year for grinding ladder Item was ok for me , we are not all Jobless or playing only one game... I remember Blizzard's poll about ladder lenght : as many commented, bot shopper won...It privilegiated them.

You also can't put quest items or the cube in the shared stash. They can only be put in your personal stash. So you might still need a mule to move them to a new character 🤔.

It's nice to see a team working for Blizzard that seem to be dedicated to resurrecting a classic rather than propping up a husk of a classic in a fresh coat of clown paint. Definitely waiting to play it myself before I give them to much of a pat on the back.
Are you sure the original D2 didn't have a zoom feature? I remember it pretty clearly, especially admiring my necromancer's bone armor and then getting ambushed because I had no situational awareness with it on. It was a long time ago, though.
The one feature change I don't like at all is the shorter ladder seasons. Locking the best items in the game onto ladder, then resetting it every few months will really hurt people who can't play obsessively.
the best change was integrating a keyboard setting that supports keyboards without function keys. I know you can modify these settings yourself, but I dont want too, the default setting from the developers is excellent.
Great move by Blizzard to add zoom-in feature. This will surely bring some PoE players, it'll allow them to zoom-in enough to not see much and feel at home !
I hope they changed the way loot drops. In D2 if you had multiple people in your game and you killed someone like Mephisto, everyone had access to the same loot and you could have your loot taken by anyone who got to it first. D3 however provided personal loot. I would hope this is in D2 this time around.
That is just about the only thing they did right with D3 and it sure would be cool to see it in D2. All that spam clicking and nothing but junk to show for it.
Kinda wished they'd given us the ability to stack small collectables such as gems and runes of the same name. Would certain help cut down on space getting eaten up by all the gems and runes we keep around for horadric recipes.

I played D3 on PlayStation and had a blast. Bought the PC version and was disappointed that controllers were not supported. Even xPadder could only do so much :( Nice to see them supporting it. Almost every other modern ARPG supports controllers on PC.

Yup, up until 2018 I had a museum account which had some items removed from the game as early as 2006. My PC shit the bed and didn't have the money for a new one right away. And there went almost 2 decades of D2 history.

Activision actually has very little to do with Blizzard Entertainment. Blizz is just greedy as is.
Sadly its not even really Blizz doing any of this its Vicarious Visions that they hired outside of the company to come and and do the remaster.. I am sure Diablo devs have assisted them but, Vicarious Visions HAS DONE VERY well already on their other remasters like Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk which is why I am super hyped for this.. Had it just been Blizz I would be very very defensive on it.. I wont lie tho I do hope Blizz can do D4 very well as I would love to buy that as well one day but I wont get my hopes it too much..

I am hoping they can manage to set bind keys for secondary abilities, like the controller feature has. That way instead of hitting f1 to change ability, then right clicking, we can just cast the ability with F1 directly. Would be sweet!

I started playing Diablo 2 back in 2000 when I was 8... Fast forward 10 yrs and I had 3 bots in the same game doing 2 minute chaos/baal runs. I used to have free item games and free rushes with my mules, so much fun :-)

I'd rather they keep the ladders at 6 months. In D2 you play a lot of different characters with different purposes. Why try to increase player engagement when players still play ladder to this day...
4 months is already pretty long tbh. but a 2-3 month might be too short. . . keep in mind i'm biased. the start of a season is what I enjoy the most. then the middle spam farming part. . and then pvp is my 2nd favorite afterwards.

Unless there are some incentives, the season means nothing. And I don't like the idea to keep season long. If you want to try new class or build, you can do it in a new season.

@@BmoreGaming 3months season is ridiculous good luck getting Enigma for playing anything else then Sorceress and good luck getting the ladder only gg items. The only reason i used to play ladder was because Mf run in non ladder aren't as lucrative since the most expensive items are ladder only. Ladder will force you to make a Sorceress from scratch every 3 months and have tons of leftovers Sorceress and gear items at the end of each season pretty dumb :( Ladder would require a 2x loot drop or something or ladder items being able to drop in non ladder from now on.

@@Despond Being able to play d2 with better overall gameplay, graphics, etc... it could be insane. They gotta nail the pvp though. If they don't get the bugs out and advantages created from bugs, it'll ruin it. I know there will be a lot going into bot prevention and stuff, so we will see! A real good idea would be path of exiles idea for more open options in trading. Create a real trading post either in Bnet or link from bnet app that brings you to selections. I know there will be real money used still via jsp or w/e, but poe really has success with that system. It would allow you to trade via games normally still as well.

don't know if anyone have already made a notice but i think you should add as new implementation the availability of Shift + Left Click on an item will place it in chat (when chat is open for type) so other players in that game can see the item you shared so there is no need to do trade in order to show off your items that you wear or want to trade

lets jsut hope it comes out in the next 3 months. I hated back in 2008 they had trailers for diablo3 and it took literally 3.7 years to come out with the game.

Yeah, only reason anni's were so common on bnet was because of dupes and other manipulation. If they buckle down on that stuff, which they should, then anni's will be worth 100 hrs. I would have liked to see drop rate increases. Without bots a lot of common things will be worth multiple hrs and everyone basically has to start a sorc every ladder because unlike the mods, there is like 3 viable characters for end game.
That fart to the amazons face just earned you a sub keep it up!
They should consider making the AI for summons, traps and hydras etc. smarter so they do not attack enemies that are immune to their attacks/element.
This would reduce /avoid some of the performance problems that could occur.

Well yeah, it's made in 2020/21, whereas D3 was made in 2012.
That's almost a decade in difference in technology. That's MASSIVE!
All of these features were 100% necessary and totally awesome. I am now officially pumped for this game. My favorite inclusions are the zoom, shared stash, and the change in character expiration. One of the biggest things that bothered me about Diablo 2 was that when I would take a break from the game I would come back with all my characters gone, really made me not want to bother starting over and made me feel like I was wasting my time.
But they haven't touched merc or summon AI, and the connection issues with old bnet. I would much prefer those get fixed than something silly like zooming in and out.
Ah good ol' days when you had characters like "MULE01, MULE02" and so on. Sometimes you would create a private game to transfer stuff and then... internet would disconnect. Your hands got sweaty, the adrenaline trying to reconnect before your precious cargo went to a limbo... only to discover that the ISP was the real problem and then you would enter a spiral of disbelief and freak out, crying yourself to sleep. Only to wake up and do it all over again. FUN!

Lost my whole account cuz it disappears if u dont log in, and i lost my cdkey and comp got a virus... it was traumatizing time for young me.
I've lost 5 accounts worth of characters all loaded with characters because of long breaks or computers breaking and not being replaced soon enough. So many times have I felt this. But no longer.
I think a 4 month ladder rotation would be a bit better, as it wouldn't feel like an overwhelming pace for more casual players and would be frequent enough that the more hardcore players can get into the climb more often.

Path of exile refreshes every 3 months and thats what made me quit playing
3 is too short and 6 is too long. 5 is good but it’s not a clean number so I guess 4 months is the best best choice

I have a suggestion!! What about changing colour/appearance/animation for druid transforms, like a diff colour werewolf or wearing armour animation
I liked the original werewolf, only place I've ever seen a Blondish, tan ish, brownish were wolf. Now it looks just like the werewolf in Diablo4.

Imo the single biggest mistake of d2 was dmg immunity enemies...especially playing using only certain dmg types...like Sorc

D2 was the best. I fondly remembered having a necro with the super rare summoning armor that enabled him to summon so many minions it was easy to solo the final boss.
I built a poison necro one time. Had some rare goodies, major buffs on weapons and such. I think my poison nova did either 6 or 900 a sec....cant remember exactly....it was pretty extreme even though he is the weakest in a pvp situation. I suprised a few people with my poison,

I like 6 month ladders to be honest. Gives me time to build a bunch of characters and play them all.
You REAAALLLY had to grind to get 99 even doing solo Nihl & Diablo and topping Baal. It would take 8-12 weeks doing 100+ runs a day to 99 after a new reset. Without botting it is a massive commitment to get 99. If they make it 3-4 months per reset and it takes as long to gain the same amount of exp as D2 originally had... 99 for legit players on ladder is pretty much impossible if you work full time or have any life whatsoever. That's 2-3 months of only playing one character and grinding the hell out of it. You wouldn't be able to build multiple chars like you said. I agree, 6 months is the right length.
1 year for grinding ladder Item was ok for me , we are not all Jobless or playing only one game...
I remember Blizzard's poll about ladder lenght : as many commented, bot shopper won...It privilegiated them.

I love D2, and I just finnished the acts again with my necro, I’m feeling the age(20years) it was sexy back then but now especially at mount Arreat I have trouble seeing what’s infront of me so I really look forward to ressurected, aslong as they don’t shy away from the gore ofcourse, and the current stash is so tiny.,,
You also can't put quest items or the cube in the shared stash. They can only be put in your personal stash. So you might still need a mule to move them to a new character 🤔.

lol you must have never played diablo2 from the beginning.There werent just a bunch of free loot games cause mf bots didnt exist.The scraps your going to give away are stuff everyone finds.If you want to play god you would have to be giving away good items.I guess Ill put it like this.When diablo2 wasnt infected with bots and item sites(which never existed til the game got bots) having a simple Shako would consider you a rich player.This is when the game was actually good and all these scrap items actually had some type of value,cause you had to actually go and find the items yourself lol.Or in another way if you wanted to buy a Windforce...you had to go on ebay and pay 40 bucks for it.After patch 1.10 they increased item drops significantly..basically ruined the game

Are you sure the original D2 didn't have a zoom feature? I remember it pretty clearly, especially admiring my necromancer's bone armor and then getting ambushed because I had no situational awareness with it on. It was a long time ago, though.

The one feature change I don't like at all is the shorter ladder seasons. Locking the best items in the game onto ladder, then resetting it every few months will really hurt people who can't play obsessively.
the best change was integrating a keyboard setting that supports keyboards without function keys. I know you can modify these settings yourself, but I dont want too, the default setting from the developers is excellent.

It was confirmed at blizzcon that the original D2 will remain. No need to get D2R if u don't want to.

Great move by Blizzard to add zoom-in feature. This will surely bring some PoE players, it'll allow them to zoom-in enough to not see much and feel at home !
I hope they changed the way loot drops. In D2 if you had multiple people in your game and you killed someone like Mephisto, everyone had access to the same loot and you could have your loot taken by anyone who got to it first. D3 however provided personal loot. I would hope this is in D2 this time around.
That is just about the only thing they did right with D3 and it sure would be cool to see it in D2.

Kinda wished they'd given us the ability to stack small collectables such as gems and runes of the same name. Would certain help cut down on space getting eaten up by all the gems and runes we keep around for horadric recipes.

I played D3 on PlayStation and had a blast. Bought the PC version and was disappointed that controllers were not supported. Even xPadder could only do so much :( Nice to see them supporting it. Almost every other modern ARPG supports controllers on PC.
