Nothing makes you question your career choice more than when you are sat in the van on a cold wet day eating some junk food you have just bought in the garage down the road and realising the water proofs you are wearing are ….. well , perhaps not quite as water proof as they are meant to be .
I would make this vid compulsory viewing for any young person wanting to come into this business .
Cos this is how it often is .
Well done Lee for being so honest

These sort of jobs are for many of us our bread and butter. I know exactly how you feel Lee - like there's no end in sight! But perseverance, willpower and good old hard graft gets the job done... and seeing awkward jobs like this through to the end is the mark of a dedicated professional. Good job mucker.

I drove 3.5 hours up to Liverpool yesterday for a 5 minute pickup of an item purchased on Ebay. As a big follower of yours, I kept looking out for your van, so that I could jump out and shake your hand for all your hard work and the videos you put out, but wasn't fortunate enough. Keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to all us gardeners who look at the maintenance of their gardens and think- too much.

Lee, this has been a mammoth, hard job and I know you're not happy with it, but the back garden looks so much better for your hard work. Miracle worker comes to mind. Please get yourself some proper waterproof work wear or you will be seriously ill soon! Could be a vlog on its' own, choosing the right stuff. As for the van- Sunday morning, think of it as beautifying your workspace. We don't get to see the inside of your van much, I would love to see how you organise all your equipment. Cheer up - we're all on your side!

Another truly fantastic job here Lee. I’m starting a garden maintenance business down south but just have no idea how to cost up a job. It would be super interesting if you were to do a video explaining how you cost up your jobs and what are the ‘red flags’ that you look for that will drive the time needed (and therefore the cost) up!
    Just a suggestion!

Same here. 30yrs in and I'm still cocking up the time and price of jobs. Your mistakes get less and less but, you still make mistakes. All part and parcel of gardening. Just done one job and it looked fairly simple/easy. The bush was old and all intertwined with ivy and other climbing plants. So I couldn't get branches out to shred. It was also about 8ft deep and 15ft high. Just a nightmare. The customer was great and realised I'd undercut myself and asked me if I wanted to increase my price. I said no but I'd wished I'd said yes. Did get a dinner out of her though, and that was nice.
