Awesome job as usual! It really gives the house a more finished look. Now it just needs some flowers/shrubs around it and a big ol BBQ to top it off!
Thanks a lot, I agree 🤘
Awesome video as always Kordare. The floating deck is so awesome really ties the whole house together and it adds more square footage of outdoor living space. All in needs now is so outdoor furniture and a bbq and a fire pit to make it complete.
Thanks a lot, I'm happy to have it done 🤘🤘
Been waiting for a new video haha. I have been asked to do a deck for friends but never actually pursued a project. Great tips and tricks 🤙
It really wasn't bad, but was a big deck to take on as a first one 😂
Super dude! Love your thought process, so organized. Looks great! Maybe add a pergola on one side or some shade for the summer and some seating area for hanging out with friends.
Thanks a lot! Agreed some shade will be nice in the summer 👍
😍 Well done! That looks beautiful. Personally I don’t like decks but that’s just because of the weather in my area I would have to put a top over it and make it a nice porch. Which it looks like you could do later on. If you wanted. Still though it looks really good. Love the fact you thought of weeds coming up through the deck.
Thanks for checking it out🤘🤘
Looks great man! Love seeing your videos.
Thanks 🤘🤘
Great work. Definitely very labor intensive. Another big project done for the year!! Keep it up!
Thank you!
There he is! :) Fantastic work!!!
Thanks 🤘
Looks damn good bud. You make this shit look too easy, but it does give me confidence in myself if I ever want to tackle something like this on my home.
Thanks a lot! Just gotta trust yourself and start. Plenty of free information out there🤘
Looks awesome bro. Nice and big was a good decision for the deck. Super keen to see what you do with your upstairs room in a future vid
Thank you! I've been thinking about that 🤔🤔
hey, I roof ot here in western arizona, due to our heat the metal roof protection lastsabout 5 years, but since, your house is in, I'd assume texas maybe, idk, your coating might last 8 years, but, be sure to get the roofs coated that way they're protected from the weather, this house is insane, and I love it
I'm in Pennsylvania, should last a long time
Looks awesome. Time to kick back and enjoy!
Thanks 🤘🤘
Looks great 👍
Thanks 🤘🤘
Great project as usual, still waiting to see what you do to the loft then the house will be “finished” lol but we all know it’s never actually done.
Thanks! Yeah I've been thinking about it 🤔
Great job! You could have also done a picture frame border. I think it would've looked nicer and you definitely have the skills to do that
I thought about it, but requires more precision cutting and framing to accommodate so I decided against it. Thanks!
Looks awesome, for a future project. Using the same deck material maybe you can make a sidewalk from the end of the deck. Where the two steps are a sidewalk to the blacktop. Leaving about a 3 to 4 ft gap between the house in the sidewalk. Which could become a really long flower bed. That would be a pretty big project and definitely interesting to watch. God bless
Thanks! Not a bad idea, I know I need a walk at some point out front.
I said to myself, I hope he doesn’t lay the concrete blocks straight on top of the grass… I should have already known better. Dug it out, tamped and added rock before the blocks! Project looks great!
Haha thanks a lot!
awesome job, brother!!! looks great, time to barbecue and party it up!!! fast and furious style!!!
Haha yes, thanks!
You have been busy - awesome build man.
Thanks 🤘🤘
@@Kordare you got it
When I priced out my deck, vs a concrete/brick patio, was about $6000 vs $8000. Did the concrete/brick patio instead.
Looks fantastic. The only thing I would change would be butting the facea boards up to one another via a 45 degree cut rather than having one overlap the other. A full stair surround would also look nice and make it so you legally don't need any sort of railing but I get that is more cost and more work
Haha yeah someone else said that, I started to but didn't like the finish cut from my saw on the 45 deg angle.
Just stumbled across your channel. Great content. Subbed.
Appreciate it 🤘
@ whens the next vid?
What design tool were you using? Great job by the way
Pro/E Creo. Thanks!
Nice video! I've been a subscriber of this channel for a few years now and every time you upload a new video, I always wonder, "What does Kordare mean?". It'd be great if you let me know how did you come up with that name.
I appreciate the support! Truth is, it doesn't have any meaning, it's a name I made up which is unique to me.
@@Kordare Thanks for the reply. The channel name is quite unique and I like it. I find your videos very inspiring as well as entertaining. Really appreciate all the efforts you put in for months for each video.
Any plans for a handrail? Big fan of the cable wire look
No it's so low, not necessary
@ I was thinking that, but also for visual aesthetic. That being said would have definitely added to overall cost quite a bit
Hey two quick questions. Why not add a board in two spots where the decking pieces meet to reduce the amount of seams you have in the deck. Secondly any thought about framing it so the deck boards could go the other way?
Yeah I thought about doing that but decided against it because you need a lot more framing to support that setup. And you can certainly frame it to run deck boards the other way, just wasn't the look I wanted.
Is it really enough to set the concrete risers on just tamped down ground with gravel on it? Will it not sink into the ground with time?
I'm sure it will settle some but this is the standard way to do a floating deck
Like goonsquad but better 👌
Great job! I'm curios what kind of software are you using on the computer to design it
Thanks! Pro/E Creo
Nice simple deck. well made. The joists and bearers look to be sized correctly for the spans but did you do calcs for the footings' for a 1.5-2kPa load over that deck area? Looks to be half the number of footings for something that size especially bearing directly on soil. Wouldn't normally go over 2m/7ft for a bearer span. Not criticising, just asking the engineer.
I didn't do any specific calcs, just rule of thumb and standard practice. They could be a bit undersized but I didn't go crazy since it's essentially ground level.
@@Kordare Yeah that’s what I mean. Based on normal practice the number of footings supporting the square area of the deck seems light. That’s what it immediately seemed to me. But each of the concrete footings & blocks are decent sized.
The actual numbers for a 12x44ft deck at 1.5kPa load specification (standard domestic in service load which is often raised to 2kPa for timber specs for wet-in-service like a deck) means a total of 17,000lbs shared by the footings, 8,500 on each side. With 8 post bases on one side they have ~1050lbs each; and the 5 concrete blocks need to bear ~1700lbs each. So that’s ALL down to the soil density. Which topsoil isn’t known for.
At least if they slump you can easily fix it. Is frost heave a thing where you are?
I’m not being that-guy, loved what you’re doing there since your first vid. This kind of stuff (design, building, landcape, renovation) is what I do for money and would do even if not getting paid. Love that you just give anything a go and approach it with thought, action and plain fun.
Yeah I'm sure it won't stay perfectly level forever since it's floated on the ground. That's one reason I used those fasteners, so I can get under to adjust if necessary. I appreciate the input 👍
Looks fantastic... onlly question. can you miter the edges on the fascia or that not how they want tthat cut?
Thanks! I could have and I did initially try, but couldn't get a great cut so I have up on it
Looking at doing something simular to my backyard. Did you fasten the deck to the house?
No this is a floating deck so you don't want to attach it to a structure that is non-floating.
Any plans for a railing?
No, it's less than 2 ft to the ground in all areas so no need. Looks way cleaner this way too.
Have you considered solar?
Definitely, ROI isn't great depending on available rebates. Although It would be nice to have during outages...
@Kordare id recommend a solar generator then. Can get a nice one for a couple thousand. Very handy for outages
How is it Floating but on land, 😁 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
😂😂
No need for Timelapse
This video would be 20 hours without it 😂
He's back finally, great project well thought out. Should have mitred the corners on the fascia but overall turned out Amazing
Thanks! I actually started to do that but didn't like the way my saw was cutting the 45, so just left it straight.
@@Kordare Makes sense incredible job, are you still thinking about solar and getting off the grid ?
