I am not sure, because I haven't been learning Norwegian for long, but I think 'du' is singular and 'dere' is plural (I don't know if you speak any of these languages, but 'du' would be the German 'du', French 'tu' or Spanish 'tú' while 'dere' would be German 'ihr', French 'vous' or Spanish 'vosotros/-as'. (Ik, I'm not really good at explaining, English isn't my native language, but I hope it helps, and doesn't make it more confusing ;)
Norwegian is easy to understand compared to Danish...so don't try that language then! Seriously, Norwegian and English are close. There are some different sounds in Norwegian, but not that difficult for an English speaker. I'm not a natural at languages but found Norsk ok to learn.
It's like that because some words aren't exact translations but rather simply have their essences translated. Ha det bra means Have It Well, or Farewell. Obviously people in NA don't say either of those things, we say goodbye, but the core essence is the same, it's a formal farewell. Fun fact Goodbye is actually short for God Be With You, so it's funny to see so many atheists, including myself, using it. The norwegian version is actually more true to meaning than ours is. In actuality a casual Bye in norwegian in real life is usually Hei Hei, which to us sounds like Hi Hi. They aren't all 1:1 conversions. Sentence structures can be the same. If I wanted to ask "Do you have the bread" I would say "Har du brodet" which a direct translation would be "Have you the bread" not quite thr same right?
