      lol, yup, I was literally just reading up on Norse mythology today and trolls were a major part. I didn't know trolls were of Nordic origin until today. But that explains why in the game Dark Age of Camelot, which is divided into three realms including the Nordic Midgard, the Midgard realm is the one with trolls.

      And it get's even more interesting when you get to know other aspects of norwegian culture, one-night stands for example: if you try smalltalk with someone on the t-bane they'll literally think you're crazy but that same day at night you may see them going to bed with a total stranger.

      Dutch Lion Not in my country, if you get wasted then obviously you increase your chances of ending up in bed with strangers no matter which country you are, but here in Norway that's particularly frequent and so is that when sober, the average Norwegian is extremely shy and socially sensitive towards strangers. I find both things very contradictory, that's my point.

    I'd like to request more Easy Norwegian videos. I really think this language sounds beautiful and there isn't too much authentic material for those who are learning the language. This is double necessary for Norwegian since there are 2 written standards and a wide variety of dialects which deviate from those standards and from each other vastly. I particularly would like to see/hear the dialects in Østfold, especially Vikværsk and East Oslodialekt. Thanks a bunch and keep the lang vids coming!

      Schwvartz King Yah it's not a difficult language but when people speak fast and especially in a dialect far from bokmål, it can be difficult to understand spoken Norwegian by some.

    • @brandonduet7771
      @brandonduet7771 6 років тому +2

      Sean O'Sullivan i understand what you are going through. We need to train our ears to recognize every syllable. We do this by watching movies and videos, but it seems many of them jump from one dialect to the next. One movie is a different dialect from another. Even the people in this video were doing it. Hard to find straight bokmål.

    • @seanosull2884
      @seanosull2884 6 років тому +2

      Yes, I guess we just have to accept the fact that bokmål is simply a written language that resembles the spoken language of middle/upper-class Oslo and even they have some differences in the way they speak. Films and TV series are great. Also music which is sung in their dialect can also be useful. If you are not keen on earning Nynorsk but would like to familiarize yourself with it to an extent, I would recommend the poetry of Olaf Hauge. My girlfriend bought me his book with cross the page translation but i would challenge myself to translate without any help. And it helped me see that Nynorsk is not a million miles from Bokmål and I have become more accustom to dialects in the Nynorsk regions as a result of reading his amazing poetry.
