- "Army Of Thieves" star Matthias Schweighöfer often gets told he looks a lot like Brienne of Tarth from "Game Of Thrones." Kelly thinks the two aren't identical, but definitely could be cousins. @@Tomeztube Army of the Dead war einer der größten Netflix filme aller Zeiten. Army of Thieves ist ebenfalls auf Platz 1 in vielen Ländern gewesen und hat eine der größten Bewegungen auf Netflix ausgelöst bei dem Leute die AoT gesehen haben sich danach AotD reingezogen haben.

Ich erinnere mich noch, dass Schweiger die Rolle eines deutschen Soldaten in Steven Spielbergs "Der Soldat James Ryan" sicher hatte. Schweiger, der große Star in Deutschland, war aber nicht zufrieden mit der Figur. Er trat an Spielberg heran und sagte, der Charakter sei ihm zu anspruchslos, zu stereotyp, zu eindimensional. Und Spielberg gab ihm sogar Recht!!! Deshalb strich er die Rolle komplett aus dem Drehbuch.

@@klptravel1 I’m not typically one to defend Americans, and you’re probably right that some of them don’t even try, I want to say that some German names really aren’t easy for them. German and English both have sounds that are sometimes hard to recreate for native speakers of the other language. Take for example the English “th”, that some Germans have no troubles pronouncing while others just can’t get it right. Same goes with the German umlauts ä, ö and ü. They simply don’t exist in English, the Americans have never needed to use them before, and maybe adding to the struggle is the unfamiliar look that might feel intimidating.

It's very common in Germany to hire the same voice actor for the dubbing of the same actor over years or even decades. Every bigger actor has their regular voice actor. It's always kind of a little scandal for movie and series fans when circumstances force a change of the voice actor.
It's the same here in Brazil, we hate it whenever they change the voice actor for some reason.
Like it happened to Jack Sparrow in one of the last Movies.
David Nathan, Dietmar Wunder oder Manfred Lehmann wird halt auch nie jemand wirklich ersetzen können

I dont think all the movies are that bad. I didnt watch all of them, but what I saw was not that bad. I dont know if its just because they always say "Germany=bad movies" or why its talked that bad.
Germany has some pretty good movies. Check any Fatih Akin film, for example
@@edithputhy4948 The problem isn't necessarily the actors even tho some of them are horrible. There's good podcasts and videos by german movie-youtubers explaining that most of it comes from the "Deutsche Filmförderung", the German film funding agency and they only fund those boring safe bet lovey dovey family movies or documentaries. In Germany your movies only get a very little fraction of the funding american movies get, so we'll never get any crazy blockbusters and a movie director has to jump through sooooo many hoops to get his movie idea through all the bureaucracy.

There’s a ton of great European movies and yet everyone’s just looking at Hollywood🤷🏼♀️
His imitation of Randolf Kronberg's Eddie Murphy dub voice is spot on. Kronberg was Eddie's german voice until he passed away in 2007.

Damnnnn he really looks like he could be Brienne's brother. And on a side note, I'm still upset the Game of Thrones creators made Jaime Lannister leave Brienne for Cercei right at the very end, that was unforgivable.

He’s just so super likable. Met him many years ago at a convention ( I work in the movie industry) and he’s actually seriously funny and nice…I’d say he didn’t even seem much different to me than his usual movie characters. You know what I mean…there’s comedians who are f…ing depressing, serious or arrogant in real life. He seemed genuinely fun and normal LOL when I ran into him. He deserves all the success. Really happy for him.

I love how Kelly really learn to pronounce people's name correctly. She is very nice & respectful, down to earth humble even being one of the biggest superstar/vocalist ever, she never let that into her head. Still same Kelly that we love since idol.

@@danielp.7197 This is because Schweighöfer himself keeps using this wrong pronunciation abroad. So not her fault, imo. If I ask a person how their name is said I trust them that their answer is accurate
When your last name is constantly pronounced wrongly, at some point you start introducing yourself with this pronounciation. My German last name is equally hard to pronounce (try to teach foreigners how to pronounce an umlaut 😂) and at some point I did the same thing.

I am so proud of our dubbing culture. If you can call it that now. For me personally, German dubbing is one of the best there is in the world.
And it really is. There are spokespeople who you immediately associate with the actor if you should even meet them on the street.

It really makes me happy seeing Matthias getting the big recognition he needed to get. I’m German and grew up with his movies. I’m really proud !
My husband and I are amused with his character in both movies (army of the dead we have seen over 5 times lol and planning to see army of thieves soon) and seeing in person how similarly humble he is in comparison with his character, makes him so much more likeable, that I'm sure every movie he is in, we will watch.

I watch a lot of stuff in the original english, especially, sitcoms, bc a lot gets lost in translation. but there are certain things I always watch in german, bc it's so iconic. e.g. the xfiles and silence of the lambs.

No, you don‘t wanna watch every movie or series in german, for example Donna from Suits, Meredith from Grey‘s Anatomy and Rose from Titanic have the same voice actress and this voice actress does radio commercial for a supermarket too. Do you know how confusing that can be?😂

I always liked Matthias, especially when he was in kind of other roles for example as young Schiller or in the movie where the teacher falls in love with her student (he was very young then).
I think at one time he said he does not particulary like making all these romantic comedies, but these are the ones that pay the bills.
I hope he will be getting cast in more good international stuff now. Have not seen the Army movies though, not my thing.

Eddie Murphys german voice actor was one of the best to ever do it. Such a great loss. My personal favorite is Tom Hanks' (it's also Bill Murray's for example) since he also voiced a lot of animated characters like Manny from Ice Age. He passed in 2016 as well and watching new movies of either Eddie or Tom Hanks is such a different experience now. Dubbing really is huge in Germany and I'm proud of that. FUN FACT: Leonardo DiCaprio is voiced by the same person that voices Sheldon Cooper. And you know what? It totally works. I always wanted dubbing to be my job as a kid.

Matthias is a very talented actor and very famous in Europe! One of my favorite movies from him is the Red Baron (2008) , depicting the dynamics the pilots had flying during the Great War. In the US watch the series “You are wanted “, I think it is in Prime Video, he is the main character.
