Lol I work in travel for 8 years and we sent a lot of people to Germany so I started to pick up some of the language since I communicated with German Hertz employees so much. How was it when you heard his real voice. Lol
@@shantereed weird! All American TV shows and movies are dubbed in Germany- so it was a total shock when I heard the real actors' voices! In many instances, I truly preferred their German dub!!! You associate the voice to the character...so the real voice just doesn't fit!

Dubbing is an art, but also a craft. And a business. In most cases, german voices got the spirit of the original actors. Considering, that all the pieces have to fit together - translation, writing, directing, voicing editing ... - it is really fascinating, that is works out pretty good. Mostly.

The crazy thing is that some voice actors dub for multiple people. The same guy that does Bill Murray also dubs Tom Hanks ... It's not intentional but sometimes two actors dubbed by the same person both get very famous.

He did amazing! And Matthias is right. In Germany and Austria all movies and TV Shows are dubbed so you would sometimes recognize a famous voice in another movie and go " It's Meredith Grey!" Or " It's Eddie Murphy".

Oh my gosh this is hilarious! I searched to see what the German dubbed voice to see what it sounded like and found a preview for The Nutty Professor in German. Go to the 0:55 second mark and you will hear it and see he was spot on with his impression! Lol

Randolf Kronberg sadly died in 2007, the Clou is, in Germany 🇩🇪 he not just spoke Eddie Murphy, he was also the Voice of Deforest Kelly ( Dr. Mccoy from Enterprise )

Sometimes maybe. But there are many accents in English, like British, Scottish or Australian accents -- and they all sound the same in German.

The German voice of Eddie Murphy - his name was Randolf Kronberg - also dubbed Willem Dafoe, William Hurt and Bones McCoy in "Star Trek". But he unfortunately died in 2007 at the age of just 64. Now Eddie has got a new voice (that of Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans), but I think the new one is a nice alternative, because his vocie is closer to Randolf than anybody's else.
The old german eddy murphy voice really sounded like that. But in the latest past, they changed it to a darker voice. I like the old voice more, but the new one is closer to Eddy's real voice.
It's because the voice actor being referenced here, Randolf Kronberg, died in 2007.

I am so grateful for Netflix so that I don't have to watch any dubbed films anymore. I prefer the original speaker no matter what language. If I don't understand the language, I use subtitles. And if you do know the language, it improves your receptive language skills a lot.
I didn't even have a TV for 10 years because I really don't like dubbing, especially in interviews when someone is immediately talking over the other person and you can hear parts of both speakers.
If I see an interview with an artist, I want to hear the artist speak and not someone else.
So thank you Netflix for offering so many languages and letting us watch shows from all over the world.
Unfortunately thats not the German voice for Eddie anymore. The guy who dubbed him (Randolf Kronberg) passed away in 2007. There is someone who can perfectly imitate Randolf (even better than Matthias) but they don't let him dub Eddie. German Eddie Murphy films will never be the same again.
Clint Eastwood has a badass voice in German making even 10 times more badass 😄

You americans want to hear something funny about german dub? There is one guy who is the german voice of Leo DiCaprio, Sung Kang, Jeremy Renner, Scott Caan, Sean Gunn and Jim Parsons Sheldon Cooper haha 😂😂. And you know what? It works perfectly 😁

But you also have to be fair enough to say that we only have trained actors as dubbing actors. This also allows the speaker to incorporate his own style of speaking for each character.
For example, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have the same voice actor in the movie Escape Plan. They were both dubbed by the same guy and I didn't even notice it because they each have their own way of speaking.
Funny but Kelly, they only speak German like that when they dub for black Americans, for the white Americans, they speak, normal german, mostly. I'm a black American that lives in Germany for over 20 years, Greetings from Berlin
That was only in the 80s because black actors always played a funny crazy person and in Germany there was is this Idea to gave them a higher voice. But since the 90s and mostly since the 2010s the dubbing industry gave black actors a voice actor with a deeper voice to get closer to the original

That has nothing to do with race just with facts. The most 80s movies have black actors and actresses as sidekicks, the crazy friend, murderer or those from the streets (NYC, Brooklyn, Chicago). And Eddie Murphy played most of those roles as the starring.
