I'm always conflicted about how much I like the show because it's so gruesome, but I just love the world of the Abyss too much. It's so beautiful, really sells you that sense of exploration! And thank you! If I ever made merch, it would have to be hoodies haha
It's a lot of bitter-sweet..although more of the bitter mostly but I can't help but love this show. It lures you in with that cute and unique art style and beautiful world, then traumatises you with most screwed up and tragic experiences you couldn't even imagine in your nightmares literally ever and somehow is keeps getting worse 💀
@@Caliko oh yes, same for me! The world building in insanely captivating. Abyss is a beautifully terrifying place where you don't any choice but to play by its rules. It always gave me the feeling of unease as if Abyss is always watching. What adds to the atmosphere is Kevin Penkin's composing skills, his view of music is uniquento say the least. P.S. btw movie and 2nd season are brutal ☹️
@@Caliko Speaking of equally cute but misleading anime, i'd recommend Girls' Last Tour This story made even a bigger impression on me, left me empty inside which is worse then Abyss aftertaste. The story is about 2 girls, exploring post apocalyptic layered city with no people around. Left alone they learn not to give up, looking for positive things in this silent world. It's just too heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Better watch anime first, then read the remaining manga chapters
This is lovely!! I am also very much eagerly awaiting S2 soundtrack!!! If I remember right, Arnor Dan (who was in the Terror in Resonance Soundtrack) collaborated with Kevin Penkin on at least one of the songs in the S2 soundtrack!

This will be a bit of a lengthy comment so apologies! I started watching your videos with your performance of Decretum from Madoka Magica a very long time ago, and you've genuinely been a major part of my motivation not only to begin learning piano and to keep pushing forward with practice and lessons for myself, but also to share what I do with people I care about. The other part of that motivation came from Made in Abyss. The most unnerving and still gorgeous anime I've ever seen. Tomorrow and Hanezeve Caradhina were some of the most beautiful songs I had ever heard at the time (along with the entire Nier OST) and were pretty much the tipping point for me for going to a school for theory and composition. I have looped those songs a concerning amount of times and I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that OST changed the entire course of my life for the better. This is such a lovely medley, I really love how you perform Tomorrow and Underground River particularly, although every song you've included here you've played beautifully. Thanks for keeping going all these years, it feels like things are coming full circle :) You're the best

The calmest and serene version of caradhina I have ever heard did you shift everything up an octave in the beginning great improvisation as well wow from anime to hans and then back to anime so much great stuff

I instantly clicked the notification when I saw Made in Abyss from you Wonderful medley and piece selection, I needed that as I'm already missing the season 2, we're going to wait few years again... Everything flows really well and sounds good ! Doggo cameos never fail to make laugh :D Kevin Penkin really did well on that S2 as well, it's quite funny that many people also call one of the main osts in that season 'Von' OST. Really good surprise especially the first time we heard it. I will wait for the sheets especially for Pathway and Hanezeve Caradhina as it seems fun to practice ! (And I'll also still wait as long as you need for The Star Knows if you still plan to finish it)

Amazing work on this! I've been looking for good arrangements of this OST and I've even attempted to make my own. I ran into many of the same problems that you mentioned: Kevin Penkin's textures are so dense and rich that I don't want to sacrifice any of it, but you obviously have to in order to make the arrangement playable. One minor nitpick that I think could make this better is to make the transitions more organic. The transition can be as simple as one chord to bridge the two tracks. Also, again extremely minor, but I think the track at 6:52 is called "New World". I am in awe of your work and I feel inspired after hearing this!
You've managed to get such an incredible sound from this piano, absolutely nailed the feeling of each one of the tracks. I usually don't find pianists with such a sensitive touch playing theses OSTs, so I'm really glad searching for piano arrangements of the Made in Abyss OST has led me to your channel.
