I appreciate how Peter understands instinctively which things need to be explained. Many of his guests are expert in a topic have enveloped themselves in that topic that they cease to be aware when they are using terms that might only be understood by people in their own Circle, even factoring for good general knowledge and education. And then he explains it in a way that doesn't make us feel belittled.

The Aristocratic Class had to denigegrate the middle class to assuage their guilt over decimating their communities when they moved all the manufacturing jobs out to Asia. They had to "other" them. In order to still have a victim group to champion, a reason to vote for the very same people who helped move all those jobs away. They re-used the Race Card from the 60s. But Black population alone isn't a large enough group to make up for the white middle class they lost. The Black population percentage hadn't really increased in 50 years. Still 12-13%. Likely due to abortion centers in low income black majority areas and the persuasion campaign of acceptance & benefit. So they included every race other than white. Indian, Hispanics anyone who had a darker skin color as a marker of belonging. A tribal identifier if you will to band the group. Concurrent with this was adding the LGB class. When the goal of marriage was ruled in the Supreme Court it shocked them. They were not anticipating successful so quickly they needed another goal, another victim group to carry the victimization banner. So Trans people were added into the intentionally imprecise designation of "systemic repression" victimization status.

I'm 72, soon to be 73. I understand Victor's point of view. He and I were kids that stood and pledged allegiance to the US flag every morning at the start of school. We are the children of the Greatest Generation that share the values taught to us at home and at school. We are the youth that were inspired (or shamed) by Martin Luther King's dream of his children being judged byy the content of their character and not by the color of their skin. We've watched the steady dissipation of our country since 9-11 and the advent of that sinister plague named Obama. Victor wants strong leadership to emerge; I am concluding that it won't appear.
Ayn Rand said it best, ""When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion, when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing, when you see money flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors, when you see that men get richer by graft and pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you, when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice, you may know that your society is doomed."

Wow, wow! Holy guacamole what a life story. If you don't mind my asking, how did he do with the rest of his life? Raising you and marriage. I mean, I don't think anyone would be surprised to hear he was an angry cynical, raging alcoholic and who could blame him but, it would nice and give hope to many to hear he found strength in faith and walked away from all of that and never looked back. I don't mean to pry. Just curious that if he went on to lead a semi-normal productive fulfilling life, HOW? I can't imagine. I have faith but, still. That is an AMAZING story and I hope he found peace after.

I was a history student, and still stay tuned to it. I thought at the time I had a good history teacher. But I have never had a great mind as Mr. Hanson, according to his style, intelligent, and wisdom - as a teacher of all that is good in making right and moral decisions. Like I said, we need more good men like Mr. Victory Davis Hanson.
