Now I know why my zoysia grass died and it had to be replaced :( I initially blamed it on a recent cold snap here in Florida. But In retrospect, it was operator error...I burned it with weed and feed. 😐 Thanks for the info sir. Education is a powerful thing. Now I'll feel more confident with my lawn care going forward. I got all new grass and I won't make the same mistake twice.

Since your channel is named “organics” will you do content on organic weed control and fertilizers ?
Absolutely!! I like to make these videos for homeowners. We want make sure everything we recommend can bought online or at your local hardware store. We are testing many shelf brand organic products now.
We want to make sure anything we recommend has been tested by us first.
Not everyone will use Organics, knowing the right way to use even none organic products will help prevent over use of fertilizers.
We want to cover a large range of products and lawn related vidoes!!

Liked and subscribed! Trying to recover some dead spots from the Texas freeze. I used Scott's S like a noob in March and have not seen good results. I will do the 50/50 soil & paver sand mix you suggested in another video, should I also try a fertilizer with a high phosphorus percentage to encourage my St. Augustine to grow laterally into those areas?
Ohh nooo!!! Bonus s is no go!!! Glad to hear you are dome with that stuff.
I recommend a shrub fertilizer. Like a 8 10 10. I wouldn't go to heavy on the phosphorous but a blend close the one I listed above what work great for that.

Ohhh nooo!!😩😩 sorry to hear that.
Best thing you can do is stay off the lawn, give it extra water and a minth after the product was applied put down potash (potassium) to help it try and recover.
In this situation less is more.

Thank you fire the great video. I live in Ellenton FL. It is still high 80s and low 90s here but now that we are out of the blackout I want to fertilize. Any particular fertilizer that you would recommend?. My lawn st Augustine needs to thicken up and become denser. Sunniland?.
A 16-0-8 would be perfect for what you are looking for. Apply that now. Then just potassium in the winter. Repeat the the 16 0 8 in the spring
You can do miliorgnite between applications in the summer. Make sure the fertilizaters have micro nutrients as well.
Yep I'm taking that Scott's Southern weed and feed back. I guess I'll stick to milorganite I guess

The liquid versions just have a quicker release and do not last as long in the soil. For homeowner products I recommend granuler fertilizer but liquid will work too!!
Thank you for your videos! I have a question. I’m in Miami. I can’t find anything like suggested in precious videos (20-2-11) to fertilize my st Augustine now… anything in Home Depot is over 25 in nitrogen and hard to find slow release over 50% or goes down to a 10-10-10… where can I get the right product? Any recommendation? Is osmocote an option? (Super expensive)
Get sunniland 16 4 8. Or look at the other sunnlinad products. Unfortunately this year you will be looming to pay between 60 to 100 dollars for a 50 pound bag. Last year tt was about $25. Sadly it's just the way things are going!!😞

There are videos on the channel that address this in detail. Micro nutrients are highly recommended.
UF did a soil test and said my phosphorus is high and potassium was low. Shouldn’t any of these recommendations start with a soil test before doing anything?
Ideally yes. But not everyone is going to do that. This is a great basic fertilizer that will work for 90% lawns with our without a soil test. Now that you have that information you can pick a fertilizer just right for your lawn.

You can only apply 2 lbs of phosphorus per year.

Every state has different laws and even counties do too. We definitely recommend checking with your local extension agency to find out what fertilizer restrictions your county has.
