can we not only use sys as sysdba? is it necessary to unlock hr and use it? For some reason, the hr one won't connect saying something about wrong password. I followed the video.

First of all thanks for watching this video, this video is made in reference to unlock the HR user in Oracle 11g express edition.
The steps are little different for oracle 21c express edition, although remember one thing sql developer can be used with any version of Oracle database.
And for sure HR user steps are different in other version of databases.

After doing those steps still its showing user name is invalid what to do
Sir,I did same as you say but after opening SQL developer it shows warning that could not install some modules
That might be the issue because of Java Jdk or try running it as an administrator

Please show how you set the user name.
When creating account for oracle it takes user name as EMAIL address only. All the videos on UA-cam just showing how to make connections but not showing how to get those credentials which we have to use for making the connection.

Hey Akshay, first of all make the connection with sys user as it behave like admin and put the password that you have provided at time of installation.
Apart from this you can follow along with the video to make hr user connection with the password as hr as mentioned in the vidoe section

Have you install oracle database before installing sql developer?
If yes, then check the location where you have done the installation of database, sql developer only provides you the connection with your database that you have installed in your local base machine

If you have unlocked the HR user using the same approach as mentioned in the video then the password will be the hr only.
