ITV Sport Channel ceases transmission 11th May 2002

- The ITV Sport Channel ceased broadcasting following the conclusion of the Division Two Play Off Final between Stoke and Brentford on Saturday 11th May 2002. The channel was on air for exactly nine months before the liquidation of ITV Digital meant it could no longer broadcast.

ITV really didn't think itself through when it launched this and OnDigital, later ITV Digital.

it was doomed from the start they was signing people up to 12 month contracts on the I.T.V. Sport Channel and the season only lasts for nine months i remember asking a woman on the phone what are you suppose to watch when the season ends and she said we will find something and she did find something the Job Centre
Will Pitts nothing else is After the end of the season. Just 1 last premier League match day. (And also euros and or the World Cup if the year was 2000 or 1998.)
Edit: I forgot that the 2002 World Cup was started.....

2 decades on it makes you wonder, what might have been.
funny how this gets recommended to me 22 years after it shut down.
The tape abruptly ending in the final second of the video makes this closedown really funny for some.
