James Alexander Gordon, Peter Jones & Des Lynham - from a time when Grandstand WAS Saturday afternoon.
Brilliant memories. Reminds me of my dad. I wish I was still listening with him now. Thank you fellas.
RIP Peter Jones
RIP James Alexander Gordon
RIP Sports Report
BBC slowly destroying the traditions that made the country great. They should be on a spike outside the tower
Peter Jones brilliant
Whenever I hear Bruce Hornsby I think of Des Lynam summarising the league tables 😂😂
Wish we still had Grandstand.
Yes, very sad news about James Alexander Gordon's passing.
The BBC had class in those days.
All legends. Those were the days my friends!
Peter Jones just simply the greatest radio commentator and Alan Green a close second.
Peter Jones was not opinionated like alan green ....he said what he saw not what way he thought it ought to be
Of todays radio commentators John Murray & Ian Dennis on 5 Live are Quality.
I grew up in Ireland listening to Peter Jones ,Bryon Butler and Maurice Edelson . Brilliant commentators.
@@Kevin-lf4xx The Legendary RTE commentator George Hamilton began on BBC Radio in the early 80s
@@johnhastings7841 yes he did John. I remember him doing the football commentaries .
the great Peter jones
Rest in Peace James Alexander Gordon
Love peter jones who died one year after Hillsborough.. he said it had taken a lot out of him
Loved Peter Jones and Grandstand music at the end
Rest in Peace James Alexandar Gordon
Peter Jones died while working on the Boat Race on river Thames. The last goal he commentated on was a Gary Lineker winner v Brazil the Wednesday before he felt ill.
It's all over. In its infinite wisdom the BBC has CANCELLED the traditional 5pm reading of the classified football results at the start of Sports Report. Nothing more to be said.
Best song ever

Boy, did I get SICK of hearing that Bruce Hornsby tune. Was this an early example of unnecessary background music?
Tupac - Changes plays in the background when Lynam is reporting on the league tables.
