Great little radio, did anybody else notice that when attaching a long wire to the antennA IT ALSO IMPROVES AM reception?

i love this radio. i keep it in my bugout bag. i can charge it off my little folding solar panel. you’d be surprised the stations it can pick up in southern california. thanks for the review. keep posting more

I own a lot of radios... That being said, I find more often than not I am listening to this lil dude. The sound is remarkable! The fit and finish is smooth, I know there is a lot to be desired over how a radio "feels" but what can I say? It's really nice.
The reception is just stunning for any radio. It has a very compact feel because it is and fits anywhere.
What would I improve? I would add a dial lamp, it really isn't needed but at times in the dark of night it would be nice.
DSP tuning takes a bit getting used to but no worries it does not drift once tuned in.
I now have a number of these USB power banks for charging or powering a phone and I can keep a radio like this running for what surly could be months at a time.

Sounds good and looks promising. Has the right shortwave coverage and 60 metres. BL5C battery has been around for about 20 years, prices cheaper now. A lot of stores selling these radios can supply the battery. Thanks for the review.
Just helped me make my mind up mate. Regardless, it'sdirt cheap so not likely to be disappointed anyhow! Looking forward to some short wave listening. Chris, Liverpool UK

Lovely! Definitely getting one, I’ve had a Tecsun pl660 and a xhdata d808 and I sold them both, I want simple old fashioned tuning, I can’t seem to get on with digital I find it less fun. Good review

13.00 dollars unless you live in ca.we get charged more,I wouldn't buy it on Amazon ,because of that sometimes if I buy elsewhere they don't bump it up.thanks you for your reviews,seems.like,it might be better then my v115 or my v111 for shortwave.I have yet to pick up shortwave,but thanks to you and that tecsu n loop it helps mostly for day time.night it's a better signal,I haven't tried my short wave at night yet.I still learning from you

this is a good radio with a good rception on all bands, FM, AM and SW becauase it has DSP chipset, its speaker is very good , rich and clear sound, plus it has mp3 player.

Thanks for the great review, as always :) I got this one and the Tecsun R9012 to compare, yesterday. The sound quality on this one is far better than the R9012 IMO. How would this compare on FM and AM with the Sony ICPF-26 in your opinion?
probably better on FM, because of its DSP circuit. I would prefer the the P26 on AM. It is just preference..though the 9012 is great on the AM band as well.

Hey Todderbert. Which one would you recommend amongst the D328, KA321 , R909, R9012 on SW sensitivity and selectivity.

I would pick the R9012. Most love it for Shortwave.
Man! The speaker dosnt sound Tinny at all. Amazing for the size...
Sensitivity great, soumds great. Love it EXCEPT the pointer on the small dial is way off. A station at 93.7 reads 95.1. That spoils the fun I was looking forward in an old fashioned analog dial.

D-328 for AM and Shortwave. The V115 for FM and Recording.
Excellent review! I wasn't aware of this model. My first thought is, I hope they don't raise the price. Question - is the kickstand more usable with the antenna down? I'm thinking you could clip a lightweight wire to it for kickstand operation. It's a challenge finding a place to put a kickstand on a small radio that uses a BL-5C, the battery takes up a lot of real estate on the back. This radio is a buy, I agree!
The kickstand is still useful, keeping the antenna collapsed with a wire is perfect. I should have mentioned that :) When the antenna is fully extended and in the wrong direction is when your in trouble.

Did you tune AM stations in the video and I missed it?
AM reception is most important to me when purchasing a radio, so I always look to see how they perform on the AM dial.

I'm looking to buy a radio and I've narrowed my search down to this D-328, Kaito KA390 and Supersonic SC1082.
Not sure if it's true or not but I was looking at the other radios I mentioned because they seem to be bigger in size, and I'm thinking the bigger radios would have a larger ferrite rod internal antenna, and get better AM reception?
As mentioned previously, the best AM reception possible is most important to me, that's really all I listen to.
Can you tell me which one of the three I'm looking at you'd recommend?

Whats the low band fm for I've never seen stations that far down
That is the extended, Russia/Japan band. They have analog tv stations still. The US used to use these lower bands also for channels 1-6.
todderbert US same as the Philippines.
PTV4 Manila on 71.75 MHz and TV5 Manila on 81.75 MHz. There are no channel 6 in Manila but they added 87.5 FM as the hit music station in Manila, Philippines as FM1.
I am a person with low vision and I depend upon these reviews to help me use items such as this(since ALL manuals now are useless). Your review is pretty good but why is it NO ONE ever shows how to insert the battery? May seem simple unless you can't see the markings on the battery case and instructions do not show it. Battery goes in 2 ways. Which is correct? Help!!!
The issue is it is rather difficult to do on camera and results in fumbling. Any of my videos where I do not open the battery door, just ask in the comments. I'm always willing to help. For this radio the battery goes only one way being the BL-5C, if you put it in backwards it does not make a connection.
Hey, would you say this has a better speaker than the sangean sr-35? Please help me decide, im really torn between the two.
If your just going to listen to FM and AM the Sangean is the way to go. If you need shortwave, MP3 player, and a rechargeable setup then this radio is the ticket.

I do not know if this radio will work in my apartment. I'll probably take it with me out of town. You have a much less noisy environment than the one I have :P

That seems like a pretty neat little radio. But I'll tell you what, that non-standard battery is a deal-breaker. It needs to be "AA", "AAA" or something easily easy to find.
It's a great radio for the price. Having a rechargeable battery off the bat is great. No need to go out and buy more items. For an emergency radio, they should take your advice and find a radio that can take standard cells. Those who want their radio for the long haul, should also take your advice. The Tivdio V-115 continues to be popular, and it is using the BL-5C, we will have to wait and see how long this trend goes.
You can easily buy the 18650 at larger stores like Walmart.
SC Radio Fan In every little town that has a convenient store, it will have "AA".
If you have a Supersonic BT1080BT. Same battery!
How on earth do they make such a great sound from such a little radio?. I often wonder if XHDATA is actually made by Tivdio, trying to take on the big boys. Any way you can certainly pick em Sir 👍 Tam.
From what I can tell they are two separate companies(manufactures), and the speaker in this one is built much stronger then the Tivdio's(Audiomax).

Your Welcome Tam. I had this radio open to see how it was built. I has a metal encased speaker, great use of heavier gauge wire on the power connects and a 2 1/2" ferrite bar antenna.

I'm still hoping to get the D-808, I had an issue with Aliexpress trying to get this radio and will not buy from them again. Crossing fingers that it will be on ebay or Amazon this year for purchase.
