Our little guy had 21 Teeth pulled today, And a cyst removed as well. He’s a Yorkiee. I almost cried picking him up, I’ve never seen him in so much pain. I hope we has a good recovery.
Hi Alex, I just saw your comment and believe me when I tell you I feel you. How's the little guy and how did you feed him? We just picked up our girl from the vet, she got spayed, had 2 teeths pulled out, and 1 cyst removed. Been 12 hours and she still hasn't eaten anything yet. Any advice how to feed them? Thanks in advance
@@stephenpimentel9157 Hey, He’s doing much better. He doesn’t seem to be in pain anymore. It’s been a few months since the procedure. But we can see a huge difference in his normal routine. He has more energy and smiling more. I hope you’re little girl is doing well. As far as feeling her. We used a food processor to grind up his dry food. And added a little bit of chicken broth for more flavor. Room temperature water NOT cold water. And if she doesn’t have any bowel movements in the first couple of days use pumpkin purée to feed her. It will help her go easier. Good Luck !
@@Littledevil42 So just some advice I got from the hospital. The bleeding is normal for a few days. And room temperature water and soft foods. I suggest grinding the food, like in a food processor with a little water mixed like 2 oz. If you’re pup doesn’t wanna eat, or has a hard time going to the bathroom. Feed you’re pup Pumpkin Purée from the can is fine. It will help. Good Luck !
My 16 year old Jack Russell got dental surgery on Aug 20 had 6 teeth removed, sleepless nights and he wears the CONE. I’m so glad scooter is getting better it’s a long recovery due to his age but each day gets better 😊
My 8 year old half pug half Jack Russell terrier mix just had 3 teeth removed and the croak in her voice has been so saddening 😭 hopefully she will feel better soon 🙏 ❤️ 🐕
Thank you for this video. I adopted my senior (Formerly a stray with no history of medical care) a few months ago with pre-existing dental problems (Severe periodontal disease) and she needs all her remaining teeth pulled. I knew this was coming when I adopted her, and tomorrow is the day of the procedure. I’m so scared, but It’s comforting to watch videos like this!
Our Dachshund is 16 now. Three years ago she had 14 teeth removed. They said they got all that were compromised. Today she had 10 more taken out. I did not expect that. None were loose and she was eating fine. But the new vet noticed her sneezing and said she may have an infection in her sinus due to tooth decay at the bone. In a dachshund the mouth is small for their big teeth so there is less bone to anchor the teeth. Sure enough this is what the xrays showed. I was so impressed the vet made such a quick diagnosis, because may girl wakes up in the morning and sneezes 6 times in a row. And through the day as well. I will be on the lookout for this symptom in the future. And also the frequent air licking, that was probably pain related. I wish I had known this.
My dog had 7 teeth pulled off. Today is the 3rd day. They said the older the dog is the longer it takes to feel better ? I know my 8 year girl is in pain. She is taking Gabapetin. She is not to hungry and a little off.
My 9 year old yorkie had 7 teeth extracted today as well! She's very confused and it's impossible to calm her down, I can't imagine how she must feel :(
Anna D. M. Is horrible. The anesthesia wear off after two days on mine baby Then she is taking pain pills and that makes her sleep all day She has to take it for 10 days. She looks so sad. Everybody says “oh my dog after 3 days it’s the happiest dog ever “ well my dog is miserable 😢
@@TheCancungirl how is your dog doing now, my doggy is 11 years old and she had all her teeth extracted, she just came home today. A total of 21 teeth pulled
4everus1986 poor thing ! so many ! My dog is fine now. Actually it took 10 days until she was acting normal again. I was very scared when she came back from the vet Bc she was in a lot of pain and she was whining a lot and not herself. The pain medication helped but also made her sleep all day. Don’t get scared if u see her sleeping a lot. My girl didn’t eat the first day , she ate a little the next day. Just wet food (can). I started giving her dry food 12 days later. Hope ur baby gets better. The first night after they pulled her teeth was awful. She was out of it and shaking. But the next day she was a little better. Everybody told me in 3 days she ll be normal. Well no my dog. It took 10 days. I think the older they are the longer it takes
I know this is an old video, but our cav had few of his front teeth extracted recently and we were doing some research on what to feed him because doctor advise us not to feed raw diet in any form due to possibility of bacteria getting in the wound and causing infection. We only give him frozen raw food from Primal, so we wanted to give him freeze dried nuggets from Primal but we were again told not to do that because it is also considered raw food and at high risk of causing infection. What we ended up doing is just cooking veggies, rice and chicken(white meat+liver) for 12 days and then back to raw. The most difficult part was calculating required calories per meal and incorporating that into the ingredients and portions that we used for the home cooked food. Luckily my girlfriend is a dietitian so that helped! Just for anyone thinking about feeding freeze dried post-extractions, it is indeed advised against by doctors just as the raw food.
Herky The Cavalier he’s getting a bit better, he’s already ate a can on tuna and had something to drink , I just hope he will sleep okay tonight! Ty for the vid❤️
I didn't see that your dog was on antibiotics. My dog is not tolerating the antibiotics well, is it safe for him to have an extraction and not be on antibiotics? Also, what about rinsing the mouth? I have been flushing with plain water after he eats. Is there something better?
Sash it depends on your vet. The more teeth that need to be extracted, the more expensive it is going to be. My dog has to have what remaining teeth she has left pulled (I adopted her as a senior with pre-existing dental problems, I basically started saving up the day I brought her home), and the estimate is around $1200 on the low end and 1500 on the high end, USD. It isn’t a very cost-friendly procedure, but the pup will be so much happier afterwards and that’s what we all want for our dogs, right? I don’t mind emptying my bank account if it makes my dog happy and comfortable.
@@babycheesa8020 mine was $2,646 in California US. As well a rescue and got him around 14-15 years old with really bad teeth and disease. Not much info about his history either. All teeth got pulled. I too dont mind empting my bank account after hearing them say after this he might feel the best he has felt most of his life 😢❤ i get to pick him up tomorrow.
5 yr old Shih Tzu needed 7 removed! Only sign was sudden bad breath (like anal gland odor…TMI). Now we know to move faster! He must’ve been in pain for yrs?! I feel so bad. The vet never said he needed cleaning. Now I read yearly. He was also missing 8 teeth. The vet bills was $1750’ish, but included fluid, Lepto, & Bordetella vax.
J'entends ton accent franco-canadien, c'est super! :) Merci pour ce vidéo! Ma shihpoo vient de se faire extraire 2 dents et on aimerais qu'elle soit aussi comfortable (que possible), durant son rétablissement. xx

Hi I'm just wondering but how much did this procedure cost? My dog needs some teeth extracted so I'd like to know.
It cost about 1500$ in Canada! Prices vary according to each clinic though. But it should be around that price. Good luck to your dog!

Did anyone rinse their dogs mouths with water after they ate for the 1st few days? If so did you use a syringe?
Is the anti-inflammatory called “meta cam”?
Yes that was it!
