Muse are geniuses. They are channeling Freddy Mercury, Lawrence of Arabia and Chopin in a single song. It's beautiful. (BTW, It's Nocturnes, Opus 9 by Chopin).
Honestly listened to countless versions of Chopin's Nocturne no 2 in my life but coming back to this song the way he plays the excerpt is the actual best in terms of pacing and little tricks
John Millthorpe Muse's interpretation of Chopin's Nocturne is very authentic and original but perhaps what makes it so great here is by how it works with the song as a whole. After the heavy militaristic theme it arrives like an epiphany; a nostalgic reflection of the bliss of youth... and we question ourselves, how did mankind ever come to this?
Matt's version of Chopin's nocture op. 9 no. 2 is my favourite of all time. Despite it not being complete, the way he put emotion in it is amazing. And the samples on the background really add to the song! It makes me want to cry everytime.
A very special CD. I'm glad I got it years ago. I was wondering if I could ask you a question? Do you know where Muse stands politically? Enough with greed, enough with corruption, enough with these unjust wars. I am so glad the released this album. It can really open peoples minds up if you think about it.
The whole album is actually themed around George Orwell's 1984, in which the world was in a actual perpetual state of war, it wasn't referring to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
actually in 1984 the world is separated into 3 countries which over all is a bad thing and considering this album is themed around 1984 it's easy to say that this song is anti globalization.
Jake Johnson Enough with greed, corruption, and unjust wars? You might as well say enough with hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis. I love this song. "These wars just go on and on". Sadly that is so true. I love the message Muse illustrated with this album. There needs to be an uprising here in the U.S no doubt about it.
Green Shaman I know the album is about 1984, I'm just saying the song can be interpreted more than one way. That's the beauty of music.
Jake Johnson Enough with greed, corruption, and unjust wars? You might as well say enough with hurricanes, earthquakes, and tsunamis. As much as nobody wants those things there is no combination of laws, no form of government, and no set of morals anybody could implement to solve these problems. Welcome to reality bro. Trust me, we all know it sucks.
