I want them to do a tour, I was 8 when they started and I loved them, 50 years just fell away and I feel like a kid again, god how quick 50 years have gone by 😊
My pride at being a 1970s CHILD...just gets better and better when i see Mike Batt and the WOMBLES.....i watched their first ever TV broadcast in 1973...the Wombles pop Group came slightly after the TV show, in 1974...i remember the initial WombleMania of 1973 to about 1976 i am now a good. 58 and still got my hair...and fitness.....thank god for The Wombles......and Mike Batt....a joy. Very emotional.......
The Wombles are back. I have so missed these guys. I would watch them alot as a kid my cousin Stephen and I. He liked the Wombles too. I cannot wait to tell my husband this. He liked the Wombles as a kid too. What a family tradition this would be for our children aye. The Wombles are huge part of my favourite childhood memories of childhood TV programs that I grew up watching as a kid myself. My husband too. Gosh. Now we can finally have a childhood TV program tradition to pass on to our twin children to pass on to their children our future grandchildren. Maybe my husband and I can create a special group of childhood family traditions that our children and their children our future grandchildren and future great grandchildren etc. Known as a family generation of childhood memories from their parents to their children to their grandchildren to their great grandchildren etc. That's a generation. The Wombles will be huge part of this group of childhood memories and traditions creating a legacy and a family generation.
The musicality of the Wombles is phenomenal. The arrangements, the production. Remarkable. And that was Mike Batt’s doing. Wimbledon Sunset is a phenomenally beautiful piece of work. And Wellington Goes To Waterloo was just wonderful. It always feels to me that Mike Batt felt “just because this is music for kids, it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t still put in all the effort, time and production as I would for a major piece of work intended for adults”. And it really shows. I love Mike Batts work. Everyone remembers Bright Eyes, but the whole of the score for Watership Down was brilliant. The music from Dreamstone. Some brilliant orchestral music (his Christmas Overture is always played annually in my home). Not to mention the fantastic Hunting Of The Snark. And even the somewhat experimental and unusual Zero Zero - such a sad tale but with some brilliant music and innovative stage effects. My only claim to fame regards Mike Batt was that when he broke his back in Spain decades ago I was running a little greeting card shop. The lady who ran a car hire firm that Batt had used (sometimes to transport fully-costumed Wombles) purchased a get well card for Mike from my shop. This is probably the closest I’ll ever get to meeting him. It’s such a shame he was forced to sell his controlling share in the Wombles in 2017 - I understand he was very saddened that he no longer had any legal involvement in the Wombles going forward.
I'm from the U.S. and clearly remember, back in the early 70s, watching the Wombles on either CBS or PBS. I was a very little girl so, I don't remember the specifics but, I remember them. Such fun!
Remember the Wombles well. The wonderful Mike Batt who created so much music. We all have our favourites of course. I can still sing ' The Orinoco Kidd, Wombling Merry Christmas & The Wombling Song', from memory. In fact, the set up for Britain's got talent was used in the Wombling Merry Christmas video. I seem to remember that the late Bernard Cribbins had to do a public announcement to fans, to stop them from leaving stuff on Wimbledon Common, for the Wombles to collect. Oh those wonderful innocent days of my youth.
Mike also did the theme to the BBC TV show of the same name (the full version and the pop group came off the back of the show’s immense success) and the theme to ITV’s “Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings”, so, it was nice to have him on ITV again
Love em 😊👍 Got their album from 1974 'Remember You're A Womble'. Just got the 4 CD box set of the 4 studios album. As mentioned on 'This Morning'... Just bought their 50 anniversary vinyl LP Shame it was a good disc though. Great fun. We need more of this kind of days where novelty stuff is brought into mundane life these days. Thank you Mike for bringing them to us at this time 😊👍
Mike Batt is such a colourful and talented guy. I grew up with The Wombles in the UK back in the 70's, and wish they could do a world tour, especially to Australia. 🙂
Bit of a disservice to Mike Batt there, he's not just behind the music of the wombles, but also the man behind so many great songs of so many big artists. Minuetto Allegreto was a work of musical genius, like so many others "I feel like Buddy Holly" is another favourite.
The year I was born! If I am nothing else, and believe me, I ain't much but there are three things I know to be true... No.1 - I'm a Monkee, No. 2... I'm a Goonie and No. 3... I'm a Womble! 🤙😁🤙
The series of Wombles books by Elizabeth Beresford are far superior to the cartoons and these chaps dressed up! The singing group does not show the different characters.
I want them to do a tour, I was 8 when they started and I loved them, 50 years just fell away and I feel like a kid again, god how quick 50 years have gone by 😊
They're random ppl in fuzzy suits

I'm so happy that The Wombles are back!! 🎉🎊🎉❤❤❤

They haven’t aged a day
Just what we need to get away from all the doom and gloom, and that pesky general election, The Wombles to cheer the nation up....
The year I was born! If I am nothing else, and believe me, I ain't much but there are three things I know to be true... No.1 - I'm a Monkee, No. 2... I'm a Goonie and No. 3... I'm a Womble! 🤙😁🤙
I was 2 when they started
One of the Wombles couldn't be there, he reportedly got stuck in his bathroom again
Orinoco for pm
OK its official....Im old !😄
Wait, is this why SovietWomble has his nickname?
I used to like Rhubarb and Custard as well.
They haven't aged at all.
I have a vague memory of when the first song was released and my father buying the record from a petrol station or it could have been a cassette tape
But are they the REAL original Wombles or a tribute act?
Either way, they were miming!
They haven’t aged a bit
Bernard Cribbins
Best one is Journey to the centre of the earth
Which ones greta thurnberg
fire cat deeley and axe the show
are these standing in the general election
Skip to 8:14 if you just want to see the song, rather than all of the waffle.
I mean wombles😅
They not aged have they ?
Move over Taylor Swift 👍
The series of Wombles books by Elizabeth Beresford are far superior to the cartoons and these chaps dressed up! The singing group does not show the different characters.
More miming.
