- If you're planning to apply for a PG in the US or are simply curious about the finances, here's a full budget breakdown for you, stepwise. I've tried to include almost everything, as much as I could while still keeping the video crisp. So, if you feel something's left out, drop it in the comments? So, everyone can just add that up ! It's a long tedious journey. Let's grow together ?
* This budget doesn't include additional resources for STEP Prep, as not everyone gets them - It could be a few hundred dollars more.

Mam one small doubt....if have given my 4th profesional exams and gave my usmle step 2 and oet during my internship and my internship completed around june / july ....and i only have opportunity to apply for ecfmg certification by aug as every year shortlisting of Universities occur around that time.....and didn't recieve my graduation certificate yet as it take 3-4 months after graduation am i still eligible for same year match process or it means i have to waste one year ( since technically i completed my mbbs and internship)
Ma'am did you include stidy resources US visit and accomodation cost food and travel during USCE and finally reallocate to US after matching?
Thank you for the insightful video and thorough breakdown of every detail. Your effort is greatly appreciated.Your contributions are invaluable. Could you create a video detailing the starting salary for residents? It would help us gauge our return on investment and estimate how long it takes to recover costs. Additionally, sharing approximate living expenses and monthly bills would be valuable for understanding potential savings. I understand these figures vary, but any approximation would be beneficial.
Sure. That’s a great Idea. I’ll do national averages from the data so we have a broad idea of the salaries 😊
Thank you for the info.
One of the first ones to explain in such great detail))
So happy to hear this 🥺💯
Please make a video about how to apply for electives and whats the process if usce
THANKYOU SOMUCH❤
Great video,
Ma’am when did you apply for visa process & when did you get the visa?
I mean ma’am in which year of your medical school did you apply and get US visa for electives ma’am ?
So polite ❤
Plus extra cost for research and publications
For competitive specialty like general surgery👍👍👍
Very helpful video
After All done, getting into a college.
do we have to pay fee till the completion of whole md or ms program?
No. No fee. You get a salary !!!
What about if someone has a spouse who is already in a job in the US .
Will there be any advantage in terms of visa and finances
Great Doctar

Didi should i take subscription of keplan for preparation?
Hello Mam , where did you annotate info from UWorld , first aid or a Seperate notebook ?
FA for Step 1 and in UW itself
Is doing research study and electives necessary? And can we start our usmle journey while working as a medical officer here? And then can we do externships or observationships for clinical experience?
Didi pls help with these doubts
Thankyou Miss
Most welcome 😊
Thank you for the info. Vloguuss when? ❤
Very soon! Editing in right now 🫶🏻
Hi doc, just wanted to ask if while in residency can you apply for H1b instead of the J1 visa and also what kind of visa would you be choosing/getting....
You can choose between a J1 or an H1B during residency.
@@dr.rashimahajan thanks alot 🙏
Ma'am are the interviews done online now or do we have to physically go for the interview?
Mentioned in the video :)
hello, is it possible to give step 2 during the rural bond of maharashtra?
did u complete your rural bond and then went to the usa?
It depends on your timeline. If you can make time for the prep, you can give STEP 2 with a job on the side, just take some days off before the exam :)
Hi mam, which electives I should (or would be required to) choose if I want to do the neurosurgery residency and best university to do them ?
Neurosurgery electives will be the most helpful in terms of LoRs. Apply broadly so that you have tons of varied experience :)
@@dr.rashimahajan Thankyou 🙏
what the matching rates’ like?
Hello mam, after doing all the process and spending all money is there any chance of getting a good match, as my interest is interventional cardiology.
YES 💯
@@dr.rashimahajan thank you so much 😊
Thanks for this videos, please i need clarification on the interviews, you mean basically all interviews are now virtual even in 2024 post covid, if that is the case i may use the money i budgeted for USCE
Yesss!
@@dr.rashimahajan wow life saving information, this is really great news because I had budgeted a large chunk for interviews, I might as well use that money for usce because I had budgeted for only one usce now I can channel that money to a least 3 months usce
how many students from india apply for USMLE and how many could able to pass it
Mam please tell how was your timetable during your preparation
Hello mama, I am in 3rd year MBBS I just started my step 1 prep from today I will run step 1 in parallel to my uni studies and I need your help. We just start pathology in 3rd year how should I start pathology? Should I go with UA-cam lectures+pathoma +step 1 book or lecture+robbins + step 1 book ? Pls can you also suggest some video lectures series too since this is my first time with pathology.
This is good. I’d suggest doing number less resources instead of trying to do them all. And then see if you can solve questions based on your knowledge and move from there 😁 Hope this helps
what is a good score for non-us img in step 2 ck for IM?

Di plzzzzzzz say is the residency programme free ..,?? The actual study what we r going to do ?
its absolutely free , and they ll pay you around 60-70k dollars per annum during your 3 years residency & along with some concession for buying books and all depending on your hospital of match
Di, can bond of Seth GS medical college affect usmle prep, like they have bond of not going abroad for 5.5 yrs of mbbs so how about US clinical experience plzz 🙏 tell if u have any idea
USCE is student position not a job 😅
@@dr.rashimahajan so it won't affect right
After All done, getting into a college.
do we have to pay fee till the completion of whole md or ms program
Nope
After residency, we've to come back in our country, then we've to apply for visa again??
Only if you have a j one visa then you need to get back to your country for two years. If theres h one b then youre good
Thank you so much for posting this mam. You are an inspiration. I found your channel because of Dr. Anuj Pachhel.
Welcome to the channel ❤️ Hoping you’ll enjoy the content I’ll be creating !
Summary of the video
23 lakh rupees 😂😂
Hey! I'm a 2nd year medical student studying in Russia. Basically, the 2nd year over here is the 1st year in India (We have anatomy, physiology and biochemistry exams in the 2nd year). Can you please tell me how i can prepare my CV if there isn't volunteering work/research activities to do in my uni🥲
Btw, congratulations and thank you for creating this channel. Keep them videos coming 💞
Hey there,
You can try looking for remote opportunities then for research and volunteering:)
Its too much of a process and too much of a fee but then its much less than doing mbbs or m.d in Indian Private clg and only 10-20% of govt clg
💯
Is an oet compulsory or if you have preexisting ielts scores, are those valid?
It is compulsory !
You need OET, irrespective of any other exam as it is a requirement for ECFMG certification.
@@dr.rashimahajan thank you
Ma'am i really want to know are connections important??? Can you match with great cv without any connections? And did you have any connections?
It all plays together. You cannot separate it like that 😅 great cv vs connections.
@@dr.rashimahajan ma'am but it's not possible to have connection in us for everyone
@@dr.rashimahajan so what should I do in the case I don't have connections?

Is this only the application part or does this also include the cost of studying there for next 3 years?

Sister, just now I saw in usmle sarthi website that immunization certificates are required for usmle which will contain proofs of vaccines like polio, measles, hepatitis b etc.but my father and in fact whole family is homeopathic doctor and they gave me homeopathic medicines instead of vaccines which i dont have any proof.they didn't belief in vaccine.so what shall I do?can I take all those at this age?I am 22
I’ve explained the compulsory vaccination process in my USCE documents video :)

After getting into residency, should we pay additional tuition fee as in India.
No. No such thing as tuition fee
Is the residency programme free after giving so muvh ??????
Yes it's completely free, and infact they pay for you, just go and search salary of doctors in usa. You can easily get back the money you spent on usmle but it's like a very risky investment.
Mam have you joined any coaching institute like Astute/Moksh etc….or you study on your own??
Self study 🤓
Mam then can you pls make a video on how to do self study
Hope you will be sharing ur experiences after reaching US
Yes I will !
So I don't have to be ecfmg certified by September? I'm eligible to participate in the interviews even if I don't have a ecfmg certification?
Technically, yes. But some programs require it. So you’ll have to check with them.
It's still way less than what PG courses costs in Indian private medical colleges.
IKR ! The fees for private med schools is ridiculous 😭
@@dr.rashimahajan absolutely
What if someone doesn’t get matched anywhere?? Also please make a video about electives clinical and research nd how and when to apply for electives nd with examples of some institutions where it would be beneficial to apply.

Hi Doc
Just a doubt in terms of research is government medical college better or private medical college.
Can I do research in a government college for usmle??
Yes !
can u tell how much does it cost to complete master of surgery from us including the usmle
Same.
@@dr.rashimahajan so u mean i can complete my pg from us in under 30 lakhs including the usmle exam fees
Didi which is the best time to go for electives during mbbs?
I went during internship. It varies according to the availability of electives and your timeline though. No best time
@@dr.rashimahajanma'am does gmc nagpur allows to go for electives in the middle of intership?
hey guys note it down...this exam is not for us like middle class people because it costs min 10 lakhs to give and clear exam that sometime goes upto 15 -20 lakhs
Clearly takes upwards of 25 Lakhs :)
You did your mbbs frm which college in India
Was it private or government
❤
Govt College :) I talk about my college life and how I chose my college in UG in my newest video.
Total fee??😊
Amount is not small but still its 50k dollars less than you need for gre if ur going to ivy leagues
💯
What ? I don't understand.
Ummm… too expensive 😂, NEET Pg i m coming we will go cheaper😊
you missed the cost of flights!! its like 3000-4000$ too!!
She told it bro
1. Taking 20 lakh loan then pursue this journey
2. Or Saving 100% income we get while intern, 2yr rural posting & left amount from doing PG or get loan of remaining amount
3. This journey is not for me?
I'm currently at the end of 3rd proff next month University exams, which option u think for me better? Pls reply mam, u r now deciding my future 😢 Im tired now of all overthinking, comparing & researching😢
