He very simply explains it as a violation of the NDA. It was like… floating the idea to him. The lawyers didn’t want him to talk to El alone because he might’ve made a more formal request or something that would violate the agreement. But they needed to leave so that we could feel the obvious sort of… platonic/romantic vibes of their similarities. Watching Tyrell frown down at the city was almost a poignant moment, if it wasn’t for how shady and weird he comes across in the entire sequence.
This is the best scene of the entire series, as it’s where Elliot breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to you, and that is the end of the first episode. From there you are hooked. The rest of the scene continues in episode 2.

From personal experience, people with power are furious when you turn down their offers or walk away, and they'll say whatever they can to discredit you... the reason you left couldn't possibly have been anything to do with them after all (that would require humility, introspection and remorse which most do not possess). It must've been your character flaws or BS about imaginary unethical motives you must have been unable to fulfill under their grand serendipitous rule. Possibly the hardest but most eye-opening time of my life.

Nice thought, in a parallel universe the writers went with that thought and the audience complained of plot armor and everything just going the protagonists way.
In the pilot, this scene seemed like those people there were the elite group in control of the world with Tyrell in charge, but I get that would have been too simple puzzle and too soon, so it makes sense they changed it to just Tyrell with a ridiculous amount of lawyers trying to hire Elliot, leaving the elite group for the final episodes.
it also plays with our (and Elliot's) simple idea of the world, that this one company is the root of all evil, when reality is much more complex as we see in later seasons
Now that the series has ended, i wonder what would've happened if he did take up the head of cybersecurity position. Wouldn't it be better for Elliott to take it up, sure there would be different challenges and the story could go in a very different direction, but as a character motivation, taking this job would be much better for Elliott's plan than staying at allsafe

Nothing in my life has scared me more then 3 random agent smith looking dudes in suits asking me to get into a black suv. This scene gave SEVERE anxiety watching that play out.

I've only seen the series twice through. Second time I binged watched in 2020. Yet, when he walked into the room, I was totally saying in my head "bonsoir Elliot."
The cops just turning a blind eye because they saw a big car and some henchmen in suits is revolting... they didn't want to do their jobs because they knew some rich corpo decided to kidnap someone.
Tyrell is making a smart decision. If he gets Elliot being the essential worker for All Safe then it means that Evilcorp doesn't need Allsafe anymore and need to make these multi million deals with them to keep Evilcorp safe. So instead they could just pay several million to Elliot.
It's been a while since a watch this episode, but didn't Tyrell noticed Elliot switched the envelope with the disks to incriminate the Terry colby? So his move here was bring Elliot together to have Control over him
I think they're just random people, the general public that are irrelevant to the studio production. They're looking at him probably because the fancy cameras and a crew is around him. If I'm wrong, then I don't know why the actual reason its.
