Apparently my cousin has had possession of one of the automotive blue models for years, using it as a coaster, lol. Since learning it was so rare, it's been cleaned up and treated much better now.

saw a pink slim go for €50 at a popular chain used gaming gear store. came back the next day to buy it but someone else snagged it. also saw the automotive edition yellow for sale for €500 in a vintage store run from an old basement under a really old like 19th century building in the city center. apparently someone fished it out of a skip/dumpster and brought it in
aw yeah, big ole fat boy PS2. still have mine my parents got me for christmas in 2001, that monster lasted at least 16 years before the laser couldnt read anymore, 2 years from graduation and it finally quit on me. best console ive ever had and the longest lasting.
Normal PS2's are expensive across the pond! In the UK you can pick these up easy from people just throwing them out for free or up to £20-30 in working condition

It's almost funny how Char Aznable got as many as TWO different consoles themed after his mobile suits in the 6th console generation. There's the red Zaku GC and then there's the golden Hyaku-Shiki PS2, it's almost as if one company saw another do a Char console and said "quick, we gotta respond with a Char variant of our own!". Other than these two there were never any other consoles dedicated to him or any other Gundam character. I don't think they were tied to any specific Gundam related event either, it's just Sony and Nintendo all of a sudden decided to release Char variants of their consoles for no reason within a relatively short time window between them.
the pre release colored PSX reminds me of the prerelease photos of the wii from 2006, where they advertised "lime green" and "cherry red" which they did eventually release in i believe the new super mario bros bundle.

I bought a like brand new Black PS2 Slim for £78, boxed with manuals. The console, controller, wires and manuals are pristine. Only a little more than a regular used PS2 but way less than a Brand New sealed PS2. A happy medium as plan to use the console but keep in excellent condition.
Some of the more erath toned colours, were prices that you could win in a draw or something. Back in 2003/05'ish here in Denmark. They were never on sale here. It was right before the silver fatt and the slim quickly came on the market some time later.
I’m surprised you never mentioned the TEST PS2! A local game store I go to has one. It’s a fat ps2 with the word “TEST” in the PS2 font replacing the word “PS2”. I get that it’s not intended to be a product for the mass market, but there’s plenty of em out there and to me it’s practically another edition of the PS2.
Certain models can play games from any region, and even burned discs if you burn them using software Sony made for developers. I have one previously owned by Rockstar Vienna (if the label-printer stickers are to be believed) but annoyingly the laser is dying.

I got a Aqua Blue PAL on a second hand shop in its box with a box of controllers for Buzz, microphones for sing star and few regular dualshock controllers. Also there were Buzz, Sing Star and few other games. All for 10€.
Those give me major Wii vibes; the glossy finish, the slim design, even the little flap open tab thing at the bottom, it all looks so similar. Maybe Nintendo got a little inspiration from Sony back in the day when designing the Wii :P

I bought a PS2 for $30 a few months ago and I got a pleasant surprise when it arrived, it had a hard drive adaptor included and came in the original box, the best part though was that it already had a mod chip and the previous owner didn't even know (I only found out because I put my Japanese copy of Final Fantasy 12 in our of random curiosity one day)
I have multiple PS2s. 1 of them is the OG satin silver from my childhood as well as a PAL pink slim unit. Had some other colours that I gave away because I'm too nice. My fave colour is Blue and I'm a huge Ratchet & Clank fan so I think I want that Toy Blue PS2. Cheers for an interesting lookback :)

When I had finally stabilised and recovered, one of the nurses brought me a like.. portable ps2? With a built in screen, so I could play the new Fantastic 4 game I got for my birthday. I’ve literally never seen it ever again and I’ve been unable to find out anything about it. I can’t remember if it had a battery for power, or if it was plugged into a wall socket.
I had a Superman ps2 I got from my neighbor before he left idk if it was custom or sold like that but it had the Superman logo with skyscrapers on the background
I have some PS2 with me, specially japan editions to play japanese games. My favourites are Ocean Blue and Midnight Blue, they look similar but once side by side you can spot the differences. To just play I run a simple slim silver japanese PS2. For some time I also had a PSX, a working condition one, it used to ran smooth, fast and quiet. Menu was a bit weird and navigating it was odd, guess they were still figuring out the new menu system. I would play DVDs on it and was my main DVD player for years until it died. Probably the rarest PS2 out there, and surprised you missed it, is the PS2 TOOL, basically the dev kit studios would use to develop games. It's like a normal fat PS2 but extra huge. You can find them out there but they requiere some work and passwords to run.
On the reliability front, in my experience I've had an original PS2 since '08 and it still works fine, on the other hand between '09 and '15 I had THREE slim consoles break (both versions).
I had the astral blue console I won it in a competition in Australia when I was 7-8 for writing a poem about it. It was something like ps2 makes me drool, the games on it are all so cool. Hahah. It broke after 3-4 years, the disk drive got stuck and instead of asking to get it fixed I didn’t even think that was possible so I took it out front and smashed it open to see what was inside. Lol.
Imagine doing one for the DS and 3DS lines, if you start now you might finish before the heat death of the universe

they sell for 150-200 and 300-600 in the box for the gold gundam model at 5:34 . So essentially yes they can and will go for more then a ps4.
