Oh...just read Harlem. This kind of show in a small place is not usual on Madonna. i wonder what was the purpose 🤔 and of course, lucky people the ones there 🎉
Even if I don't like the outcome (musically and vocally) , Madonna has reached a point on her career where she musically does what she wants! S!e doesn't need hits and she enjoys being a performer. It is a lonely place but all of her contemporaries died (Whitney; prince; Michael and George) and with that she has no one to juxtapose against! She is a heavyweight performer, on small stages, infront of audiences beneath her and at the same time as contemporaries with no star quality or charisma! What a life she has lived. What a joyride it was to join her on her journey. I am so happy to have lived on the same planet as a Madonna!
This is amazing! An intimate, one-off club performance by the icon captured in this video is always a treasure for us fans. The impromptu feel and surprise ending of this performance is so Madonna-like. Her first 3 numbers pick up where she left off from the anti-climactic ending of her 2019/20 Madame X tour that was beset by the onset of the Covid epidemic and her physical injuries that caused her to cancel shows that ended the tour. Her opening with Dark Ballet, her homage to martyr St Joan of Arc-one of her heroines, is so apt with her collaboration in this show with Jon Batiste, a Louisiana born music artist who descended from a family of jazz/blues musicians. Madonna and Batiste are kindred spirits: both share a Catholic upbringing, a French connection (Madonna’s maternal French Canadian genes, and Batiste’s Louisiana French Creole background); in their appreciation of pop music, and in their advocacy for various rights and humanitarian causes. The LAP closing number with a street march to a nearby church, accompanied by singing, dancing and musicians (one with a brass tuba)-evoked the annual January 6 St Joan of Arc Parade of New Orleans that honors the birthday of the unofficial patron saint of that city, the Maid of Orleans, who in 1429 led the French army in liberating the city of Orleans from the English. The theme of this mini-concert is rich in history/tradition, symbolism and messaging as only Madonna can envision. Thank you so very much Dan K. for this legacy video. ❤😊
❤😊 this just made my day/week/month! What a performance. It wasn’t as perfect as people may have expected but I sure do love the expression and the love and that she laid it all on the table! Thank you SO much for your hard work!! It’s incredible and I loved being able to see this! ❤❤❤❤
I recall viewing snippets of this performance online. Nice to see the entire video pieced together in this manner. I love the rawness of taking Like A Prayer to the streets and ending at the church. She'll always have that fire inside her to take risks, connect with her audience and give the best performance possible. Gotta love her! @28:59: The guy holding the Like A Prayer album! That would so be me! LOL
Anyone who was here was blessed! How cool to experience this intimate show🙏🏽 In the 80’s I was at this tiny improv off Melrose in LA when in walked Robin Williams and he jumped on the stage and blew the roof off! Thank you for compiling this 🙏🏽
I am such a huge fan. I have been since day one when everybody came out in 1983. I’ve been to every tour and I would’ve died if I were there, and she just showed up those people are so lucky to have a once in a lifetime experience, like that. I wonder if she went back to the red rooster and took pictures with people, considering their can’t be that many people in the bar
Thank you for this, I can't believe how much weight she put on in Lisbon, I don't know how she got to that point. It's even more remarkable that she managed to go back to fitness madonna for the celebration tour
She got hip replacement surgery in 2020 which takes a lot of time to recover from. You can see she struggles with her balance a little bit on her left leg at the beginning. I think she looks amazing! Xx
As a longtime fan, she looked a little on the heavy side, out of breath a lot ... some songs she was good on vocally while others not so much. I like the intimacy of it all. Overall, though, it seemed like she wasn't in her element. It is a huge adjustment to go from the kind of venue she normally plays to doing a little club. She made good use of the space, though, and taking to the streets was awesome. I'm still a fan and luv her anyway. 😊
Lololololol I respect your JOY in this performance but for me OH man didn't recognise her..thought was a neighbour of mine 😅😅 really awful look. .the voice meh
How can you say that? Are you a singer? You do not even sing! She is a Pop Singer not a gospel and a Ballad singer! She did not have a powerhouse vocals like Anastasia, Mariah Carey etc but she was a hitmaker! Not all powerhouse vocals are great singers! She is still the one of the most successful artist of all time!
Probably the most Unplugged performance will ever get from Madonna. But she really shines in this atmosphere! Pure fun and talent!
Thank you for all this work to give us and share with us this great performance. Thank you Madonna for shining again after all these decades.
Beautiful , how lucky those people were to see Madonna in this type of performance in a small intimate venue…it’s my dream
I love you Madonna

@@ronrodriguez9741 Really? I think Crazy sound terrible. I like the setlist, though, and Dark Ballet was decent.

I can only imagine that she is horrified by her appearance in this and am shocked she hasn't had it completely swiped from the internet.
