Her vocals are especially solid and gorgeous on this performance. I love hearing her raw vocals/voice, there's a fragility mixed with ambition in that voice.
American Life was a criminally under appreciated album. This is a fantastic performance. She did a similar one on MTV in the U.S. Now I want to find it too.

This was when she proved the world she was a true artist and musician. I’ve always loved her singer-songwriter approach for these gigs. As much as I lived the Re-Invention Tour I’ve always wondered how her career has developed had American Life been a huge success. I doubt we had plastic surgery grillz Madonna today.

I miss this Madonna. This was one of my favourite eras of hers:
She pulled out her emotions and feelings, totally stripped down, through the lyrics of this album, that to me showcased more than ever her writing talent.
She had lovely raw vocals and
experimented sounds and fusions between acoustic and electro.
She was also controversial and subversive but in a different way.
Finally, she looked stunning with black hair.

Her vocals are SO magnificent in Hollywood. Even better on the Johnathan Ross show. Too bad it wasn’t sung on her tour, but it does seem quite difficult to remember the lyrics as they’re so repetitive with slight changes. Thank you so much for this upload ❤
Wait for the Finally, Enough Love Tour ‘23 to hear the remix live…good luck on getting a ticket tho, this might be her last tour. If she did a Vegas residency the attendance would be sold out because she’d have total control over her show and it would be so amazing every time you go see it….a great way to slowly retire nearing 70.
This is so incredibly beautiful. This is true Madonna…singing the tunes that were put in the shelf even tho they are all so majestic and her voice shows how natural it is ..no auto tune or lip syncing.

American Life came out when the world wasn’t ready to face the truth.
Couldn’t help myself but revisit this wonder of a mini concert…finding new gems, nuggets of wisdom and wit from M during this American Life era. Nothing Fails with the gospel choir chorus gives me goosebumps and the same vibe as Like A Prayer…it’s now one of my all-time M faves. I agree with her thoughts about organized religion…it’s authoritarian, judgmental and divisive. Backing her with the band is Mirwais Ahmadzai and Stuart Price-amazing artists and collaborators with M. This audience is so lucky in this intimate setting. This video is a collector’s item. Thank you again so much Dan K ❤!

Ja ja every album was the end of her career... with American Life they said Madonna had lost it and became boring...
To be honest, I think Madonna stopped caring about keeping a public image and now she simply does what she wants at the moment. I think the change also has to do with his divorce. During the 2000's, she seemed happier than now but let's remember she was newly married and in love.

She sounded amazing during this era. Her voice is 20 years older now and not as agile. She couldn’t pull this off on the same way. I hated all the autotune on madam x but think it was used as a tool bc her voice as drastically deteriorated after the Rebel Heart tour.
She tried with Tears of a clown concerts and some other live acoustic performances but the result was not comparable to this...

This is what madonna should do next, an album with stripped down songs.. she doesn’t need to pander to the young kids anymore. She doesn’t need make complicated generic dance music anymore backed with rigorous choreography when being performed. This could be a new era of reinvention for her.

I was such a fan of this album. It came out on my birthday. That’s how it was memorable for me (I’m an April baby) I’ve had this performance as an audio recording but I have never seen it in full and great quality until now. American life is a fabulous album, a fabulous era and a time where I worshipped her.
Unfortunately times changed where her last album just didn’t do anything for me at all. But thanks for uploading this fabulous performance

Back to when she could sing without autotuning, she had normal teeth, normal looks, had coherent records with merely ten tracks well written, no fillers on the album.
