21:38 - This described my journey! Glad to be home in EO now. The separation of dogma from ethos was a very eye-opening realization for me.

So glad Fr Paul mentioned St. Martin of Tours. He is an amazing saint of the west.

Reading the Saints can never be problematic unless you lack Orthodox Phronema. Canonization doesn’t make anyone perfect or without error. Truth in Holy Orthodoxy lies with the authority of the Holy Spirit always and continually inspiring the Body of Christ evidenced by the enduring voices of the many among which are the saints, defined in Scripture and described by Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou.

What Fr. Peter said about the saints of today and the living tradition and that you can even be led astray in the Orthodox Church is so true. I’m not naming names, but there was one popular Orthodox UA-camr who, although he does make legitimately great content, when it comes to doctrinal topics that have been known to be controversial he tends to argue like “Well, some people say this, others say that, some people are in the middle, these people over here even say this, so really it’s not as clear as some might say, blah blah blah” and I’ve since seen clips of him taking the sort of “two lungs” view (although not in those words) of Orthodoxy and Catholicism, and likewise for the Orientals. It’s almost like the Ecumenical Councils-including the 8th and 9th-or any other synods exist [except when I remember him quoting the EO agreement with the Orientals from the 90s) or even… actual saints whose opinions are not on the same level as “this person and that person”. Quite a few on the internet trying to advance Orthodox theology too much. I forget who it was, but I heard a father talking on YT the other day who said his goal was to contribute nothing to theology, only to explain it. He said he picked that up from somewhere, it’s probably somewhat famous.
As Fr. Peter said, dogma is not enough. And, truth be told without the ethos you tend to cave on the dogma too because you don’t understand why it’s there so you tear it down in the name of unity or because you don’t understand it or whatever reason, just like Chesterton’s Fence, not knowing or not caring that they’re thinking like men (that is to say, the natural man)

Also, the booklets: The catechism from these -- long time Orthodox people also -- not just us catechumens --- would be very blessed from these (Proverbs 22:6).

The nice thing about the "Councils held in the time of St. Photios" and "the palamite councils" is nothing new was taught, and were the Ethos of the Church! The service of the 8th E. Council is btyfl, and is available to pray. Glory to God! P.s. an ecumenical council is not required to confirm the one before, but when it does, it recognizes all of them.

Wasn't that the antiochian parish conference? I remember some buzz about Fr Peter joining the antiochian archdiocese after the whole thing with ROCOR. If metropolitan Saba would accept him and if Fr Peter wouldn't object to being in a new calendar jurisdiction, that would be great.

Does anyone know if there is a Feast day for the Fathers of the 8th Ecumenical Council?

      Church-wide? No, not yet.
However, there have been pushes to confirm in a pan-Orthodox Council the formal recognition of the 8th (Photian) and 9th (Palamite) Ecumenical Councils.
One voice pushing for this is Fr. Peter's former Metropolitan in Greece, Seraphim of Piraeus. Since those talks have seemed to fall through as of late, he has nevertheless begun to celebrate them as such and developed their services for his Metropolia.
One source I found says the following,
"His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus, who championed this recognition and presented it to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, has decided to move forward with it in his own Metropolis at the local level. Below is the Statement of His Eminence translated, and below that are the two Encyclicals for each of the two Ecumenical Synods, establishing the celebration of the Sacred Memory of the 383 God-bearing Fathers of the 8th Ecumenical Synod on the Second Sunday of February, and the God-bearing Fathers of the 9th Ecumenical Synod on the Second Sunday of Great Lent."
So, until further (and formal) notice...
Eighth Ecumenical Council = second Sunday of February
Ninth Ecumenical Council = second Sunday of Great Lent

To raise some council to the Ecumenical level, next council having ecumenical representation of all Patriarchates can uplift the previous one to that title - "Ecumenical". In other words, Seventh Ecumenical Council got that title because council with complete representation of all Patriarchates held in 879-880 AD did it. However, that council held in 879-880 AD is so far only deemed to be 8th one, as it is still pending such title because only 9th one can do it... and 9th one did not happen yet. Simple.
To conclude - Eastern Orthodox Church is the church of 7 Ecumenical Councils.

MUST BE BORN AGAIN➡️Jesus answered: Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Do not be surprised that I told you: You need to be born again. (Jn 3, 5-6)

Or how does the temple of God compare with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, as God said: I will dwell in them and walk among them, I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Therefore, go out from among them and be separated from them - says the Lord - and do not touch the unclean, and I will receive you to myself,
I will be your father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. (2 Cor 6, 16-17)

Yeah, because how dare he accept a council that will tell him “no”? Especially if the modern pope “is Christ in the flesh” which goes against everything accepted by even their own doctrine for over 1500 years
