Excellent (as always) footage. Watching this video really hit home with me. I was an engineer with Metro North for 22 years and I used to love running trains on the Hudson line, especially between Harmon and Poughkeepsie.
Yes, quite a few times. I ran them on the Hudson line and the Danbury and Waterbury branches. I loved running them much more than the newer Genesis engines.
Although I wasn't alive at the time, I really love seeing old footage of the Hudson Line, back when FL9s ran practically all the trains on the Metro North and Amtrak. I was born about a couple of years after Amtrak retired their fleet, but just imagine how cool it would be to see them in the modern day...
New Milford RAIL FAN Wow. As painful as that is to hear, it's unfortunately the better direction for Amtrak to go in. Trying to renovate the old FL9s into NPCUs would have been relatively costly for them at the end of the day. It sucks though because I found out my family's going to New York City in a couple of weeks and I was gonna try to find a way to get some footage of them on the Hudson line...
HI Coaster Fan 2105 / I have noticed that YT has made your Avatar a circle, chopping off important information. They did the same on my YT channel. Are you going to re-design your Avatar? I am hoping they bring back the rectangle shape. Gary from Michigan 🚂
This was all still from back in May and June. I will be releasing one video a month from the east coast. Each month will be a different railroad. Next month is Long Island Railroad.
Hopefully these stations will be on train simulator 2019 this year I would love to drive the Hudson line from grand central station up to poughkeepsie new York on train simulator 2019.
Great video. I have subscribed. But 225 looks a little bit beat up. I thought after it derailed 4 years ago in 2013 and was sent to GE in Erie Pennsylvania for rebuild and repair they would have replaced all the damaged sections leaving not even a clue it had derailed before or maybe they simply just hammered the dents to be flat again with repaint. Funny!
+CoasterFan2105 Thank You For Your Hard Work Again, Dude. You're Still Putting The "A" in Awesome, So I Hope You Have a Great Last Month of Summer Vacation on August 2017, and I'll Be Seeing You Later. Goodbye Now! :-D
PG13hockeyman yes, the diesel supplies all of the power, the cab car is just a control room on the back of the train so the engineer does not have to spend fuel turning the engine around or has to strain his eyes to look back to see whats coming from 6 cars away.
its becuse theres a end where ther cab car faces and thats where the end of the metro north trains jornuy. if they dident have a cab car how would they go that way

Thank you very much, John. It is a very beautiful line. You didn't happen to get any of the FL9s, did you?
Yes, quite a few times. I ran them on the Hudson line and the Danbury and Waterbury branches. I loved running them much more than the newer Genesis engines.
Those engines sound absolutely fantastic.
My homeline!
Everything good about this video. Thank you for such fine work!
Thank you, Robert!

Well, you may be seeing some of them used as cab cars this summer on some Amtrak trains.
CoasterFan2105 Wait really? I never heard about that, but that's amazing!
Not anymore, Amtrak installed nose doors in their 32’s.

Hudson line is a great scenic ride.Took the ride up to Poughkeepsie on Memorial day weekend.
Nice video I love the horns!
Thanks! They're awesome!
2:32 What location is that along the Hudson line? Back in February I took Amtrak from NYC to Poughkeepsie, and I don't remember seeing that tunnel.
You probably took that second track unless you took it both ways or it could be a different line
Meeper5 RailFanning We did ride there and back, I guess we were routed over the second track twice!
That's just north of the Garrison Station on the line.
@@CoasterFan2105 is the best thing in the world 🌍
Nice! I love Seeing Trains in New York!

Thanks. Great video of trains along the Hudson River.

It's good that we enjoy the M3s while they're still around, as the M9s are soon going to have their way with them.
See what you can when you can!
Yeah, no. The M3’s have been overhauled and operate as well as the M7’s.
M3As still wont retire for another decade or so
@@ROTE that’s still not that long. Years go by faster than you might think.
Is their theme song still Billy Joel's New York State of Mind? Great video.
Haha, maybe so! Thanks!
Awesome video as always!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Thanks man I see the Metro-North trains a lot in Harlem Manhattan and the Metro-North New Haven line
Excellent video Mike.
This is the stuff I live to see
Nice video! You going to be railfanning the CSX River Line on the other side of the River at all?
Thanks! I have just a couple shots from there, but I think it warrants a return at some point!
Is that "rail" above ground for electric trains?
skeeterweazel where?
Yes, some of the trains run on electrical 3rd rail power.
No
@@eoinpkav152 it is lol
This awesome. I love this!
When were you there? Please let me know if you are ever in the area. I was devastated when you were in Fairfield, which is my home town.
This was all still from back in May and June. I will be releasing one video a month from the east coast. Each month will be a different railroad. Next month is Long Island Railroad.

@@CoasterFan2105 hello?
at 4:02, which bridge is that in background?... fantastic shot too
Carl McGregor A pretty large bridge if you ask me.
If I am not mistaken, that is the George Washington Bridge that I-95 goes across.
thank you... ps this is the best train video I have seen in months... awesome
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
That could be the Tappan Zee Bridge which connects Westchester County to Rockland County
nice.
Thanks!
1:38 is that an RS2M?
TRAINS FOR YOU Yes.
2:00 that engine was in the metro north crash
oh and i also do videos on this line perhaps we can team up to make the ultimate railfan
Awesome you should railfan the csx river line in fort Montgomery ny
Directly across the metro north line cuz I know that's there
Meeper5 RailFanning yes it is and it's a great spot you can see metro north from fort Montgomery too
Thank you! I got a couple CSX trains on the other side of the river, but I'll have to go back there and explore some more.
CoasterFan2105 your welcome I railfan there all the time

Amazing stuff
@CoasterFan2105 congrats on 666k subscribers!
0:58 how many of those Metr-North engines are left in New haven paint?
I think there are about 4 of them. I saw at least 2 different ones. 228 and 230.
All the Cdot owned P32’s
Metro North: Going Your Way
My dad works for metro north
Great video. I have subscribed. But 225 looks a little bit beat up. Oh and by the way do those cab cars have an RS3L which I'm guessing
Most of them have Leslie RS2Ms witch have two of the bells from the RS3L. But sometimes these will have RS3Ls.
Thanks
Those Cab Cars have S2M and RS2M horns. None of them have RS3Ls.
Yup! Leslie S2Ms and RS2Ms. Thanks guys.
I'm confused
Nice Video Mike
I like trains
You should do a CN trains galore, or CSX. What does CSX mean anyway?
I should have a long video on both CN and CSX within the next year or so. CSX stands for Chessie Susquehanna Express.
Someday I want to visit New York.
Is Manitou the smallest "station" on the Metro-North system?
Grew up in beacon ny and my dad was a Iron worker for metro north
Are you in Westchester County?
No, not currently.
The 7:03 scene, where is the video taken from?
Trains!😮

I've visited houdson river and i saw those trains and rode on them thanks for railfaning them Mike 😌🚆
2:57 What is with the New Haven paint scheme?
I prefer the NEW YORK CENTRAL ERA
Please do a video with canadien trains
I was actually planning on doing a Canadian Trains video this year but unfortunately, it didn't work out. Hopefully next year.
I've always had a question with the cab car. If there is a cab car, do you need the diesel engine?
PG13hockeyman yes, the diesel supplies all of the power, the cab car is just a control room on the back of the train so the engineer does not have to spend fuel turning the engine around or has to strain his eyes to look back to see whats coming from 6 cars away.
Buynot thx
PG13hockeyman :)
Diesel or electric
Yes
Do shore line east train in the SLE line
Sle line?
You should railman the Springfield line in Wallingford Connecticut or go to new haven union station because my school is near the train tracks
Coasterfan2105 you should call this mnrr Hudson line trains
What state is Metro north in?
new york and connecticut
This line runs entirely in New York State, but they also have lines that run through Connecticut and New Jersey.
CoasterFan, technically the Woh lines aren’t metro North.
Metro north runs in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. But mostly New york
Hey mike it's me again do you know what is my favourite locomotive
I just noticed in the intro there is an Alamo car rental company building on the left
Do they use other trains than the GE Genesis series?
Like other diesel locomotives? There we’re other variations in this video.
Oh wow this was during the time that most Train Consists only used 6 cars rather than the current consists using 8 cars.
It’s actually 7.
Why does the 4 track line only have 3 tracks with third rails?
Freight clearance
I’ve been up there mike
Coaster, can u make a train horn edition music of "it's a hard knock life" 2015 Annie please, thank you!
