- Steam Trains Galore 12 is finally here! In part 12 of the Steam Trains Galore series, we will explore six different steam locomotives in the Western and Midwestern United States and Canada. We start off with a visit to Alaska and the Yukon Territory to see the White Pass and Yukon Railroad steam locomotive number 73. Next, it's off to the Midwest to see Canadian Pacific steam locomotive number 2816 on the special Final Spike Tour. Continuing our look at steam in the Midwest, we travel to Michigan to see Alaska Railroad locomotive number 152 on the Huckleberry Railroad. From Michigan, we move back to the Pacific Northwest to see Polson number 70 on the recently reopened Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad in Washington State. After that, we head for Colorado and New Mexico for a look at Denver and Rio Grande number 168 pulling a recreated vintage passenger train over the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. Finally, we return to the Monticello Railway Museum in Illinois to see Southern Railway number 401 pulling some weekend excursion trains.

@@CoasterFan2105 I love trains I just happen to live next to train tracks I hear them all day and night most of all I hate it when they stop on the track and run engine all night I live in a apartment complex
My favorite locomotive from this video was definitely White Pass and Yukon No. 73 because it sounds so good, it looks so good in the terrain it runs in, and it doesn’t usually run to often. So Mike great job at filming 73 cause it barely runs during the year. Also awesome video. ❤️👏😎
White Pass & Yukon 73 is my favorite WP&Y Steam Locomotive.
Thank you thank you! I really like 73. It's a neat locomotive!
I got to be engineer/fireman in some of these shots and I was really looking forward to somebody that documented the engine running, especially up on the Canadian side.
@@JaiahHazelnutBrown That's awesome! I have a video with more of the clips of 73 that should be coming out the first half of next year.
I very much enjoyed this video. I have a soft spot in my heart for those steamers. Please do some more. Keep up the great work.
There will definitely be more! Thanks so much for watching!
Its here!!!!! This series was the reason I got into trains. Thank you so much mike!

Thank you!
Thank you so much for including the White Pass in this video!!! At some point you need to visit the WP&YR locomotives that run in the southern U.S. #190 at Tweetsie Railroad and #192 and #70 at Dollywood.
P.S. Wabash Cannonball as the intro song was an awesome touch lol
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! I definitely want to see the other former WPY engines!
Most of these shots are stunningly beautiful. The quality is amazing. What a masterpiece Mike!
Thanks so much! Happy to hear it!
Hello Mike, fantastic photos of the Mikado #73 of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad. These are very rare pictures of this locomotive in use. The fast ride of the Canadian Pacific steam locomotive number 2816 with its train is also great. Something special was the # 152 on the Huckleberry Railroad, or the Polson number 70. Very nice on the Cumbres and Toltec steam locomotive #168 of the Denver and Rio Grande, as well as the steam locomotive # 401 of the Southern Railway at the Monticello Railway Museum in Illinois. Thank you very much for the video and best regards.
Many thanks, Wolfgang! Glad you enjoyed the video!

@ You’re welcome
I remember I loved watching your videos when I was younger
What happened to Canandian Pacific 2816 in Mexico was inexcusable. She's still a great looking steam engine.
Awesome!
Thanks!
We would appreciate your support the Sera Northern Railway in Fillmore CA and getting the steam train 14 witch I saw in steam trains galore, Maybe when your in the area you could interview the new owner to discuss the Future plans for the Railroad and maybe make a video on it.
Thanks
Joseph Novak
Port Hueneme CA
Sounds like a great idea! If they're onboard, I'd definitely be interested!
Thanks Mike ,
Congratulations on your recent success on 1M subs also we enjoy our local Oxnard Railroad the Railroad That covers 12 square miles of track it carries thousands of cars and bananas from the Port of Hueneme and distributes them across the USA connecting with Union Pacific. The most impressive thing we’ve seen the Railroad do is when they deliver tanks and military vehicles especially in the length of train cars
Thanks again
Joseph Novak
We’ve ridden behind an SP 2-8-2 from Austin into the Texas Hill Country. The Cumbres & Toltec. Durango & Silverton. And behind a CPR Pacific out of Scranton. Seen the UP Challenger in Austin, and followed the Big Boy in Eastern Colorado. Steam engines are truly amazing engineering. If only they all had Elesco feedwater heaters! 🤣
They're always pretty special to see under steam!
Nice one!
Thank you!
I would have loved chapters

Happy blackout Friday. 🤙🏻
Thanks for watching!
Have not seen one of these in years
I usually post one every November after Thanksgiving. Thanks for stopping by!
@ You were one of my first favorite UA-camrs, my interest in trains has wained in the past few years but I still will occasionally watch one of your videos
Hi Mike by any chance can you do a train talk episode about the Southern pacific daylight trains along with my and your favorite the 4449 if so i would absolutely appreciate it
I have a long term plan to do a Train Talk on the Southern Pacific Daylight/SP 4449. Not sure yet if it will be separate videos or all one big video. It's been a slow process because it's difficult to get video and photo material I can use for historic projects like that.
Yes sir, nice intro!
Thanks!
i love steam trains🥰!
Beautiful video of these Steam Locomotives. So far I only saw four operating Steam Locomotives. Those were Canadian Pacific 2816, Redwood Valley Railway #11 “Sequoia”, Norfolk & Western 475, and Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad Shay #10. I don’t know about you, though.
Thank you very much, Nathan! I think those other three were all featured in previous episodes of Steam Trains Galore!
That’s Right. ❤️💕💖

Pov: when CPKC 2816 escapees Mexico
Like steam engines
Is the White pass locomotive new? i took this ride when i went on a cruise to alaska back in 2018 and it was pulled but some pretty cool diesels but when we passed the shop i noticed they had or were working on a steam engine
The steam engine has been at the WPY for a long time. For a period, it was out of service for a rebuild. They started running it again a year ago or so. It only pulls a few trips each week.
@ Ahhhh thanks! i guess its an excuse to go back haha
We is boone scenic railroad. Frisco 1630. Laona railway?
Most of those will probably be in next year's video!
Good ol'steam!
Wow, White pass 73: Dollywood 70's Sister
raise your hand if you like Coatsterfans2105 videos🖐️

4:32 is that a reading 6 chime that I hear
It does sound a lot like a Reading 6 chime. I heard that it's a Nathan 6 chime off one of the K-28's that went to the WP&Y in the 1940s, but I'm not sure.
Well the reading 2102 has the same sound to it so it probably is a reading 6 chime because a Nathan steel war 6 chime has like a little deeper sound but it’s louder than the reading 6 chime so it’s a reading 6 chime
@@CoasterFan2105 the 73s sister 70 is at Dollywood in pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Why is there music
Every Steam Trains Galore video except for the very first one begins with an intro accompanied by music. Parts 4 through 10 featured an instrumental version of "I've Been Working on the Railroad". The two most recent videos featured the "Wabash Cannonball".
I'm the first comment anyway great video
Thanks for watching!

It is an instrumental version of the song "Wabash Cannonball" recorded by S.J. Armstrong.
