Please don't pause the Podcast. I listen to it eagerly and it is a valuable ukrainian perspective, that is generally needed, but what I cherish the most about it. I urge you to continue, please! We need more Ukrainian Voices and your Viewpoints on the war. Don't let others talk about you, otherwise they'll drive the narrative.

I’m a westerner so I don’t understand Ukrainian culture that well, but it’s absolutely amazing to me that there’s millions of able bodied men who are unwilling to volunteer to fight. This is an existential threat to Ukrainian society/culture/state. There’s thousands (if not 10s of thousands) of foreigners who have fought or are fighting for Ukraine and able bodied Ukrainians are hiding. It’s pretty sad and disrespectful imo. FYI I tried to join international legion but they said don’t bother since I don’t have military experience

It was the Ukrainians who really wanted to protect their country. At the beginning of the war, there were so many people in percentage terms that there would be no other Western country. However, Zelensky decided to fight to the end and with his policies ruined Ukrainians within the country. Also, Western countries did not want Russia to defeat and did not take advantage of the chance when Russia was weak. Now the chance is lost. People in Ukraine have already realized that going to war is a one-way ticket. Look at the video with huge cemeteries. Plus, they began to take people with health problems to the front; someone always dies before even reaching the front.

This is a very difficult situation to be in! No matter how you look at it and how you feel about war Ukraine doesn't really have much of a choice at this point! I graduated in June of 71 and was drafted in October to go to Vietnam! As a pacifist this is the last thing I wanted to do but I did my service! The conversation about being mobilized and fearing they won't be able to get enough people is dangerous for the country as a whole! For those of us who are sending everything we can and fighting our politicians to continue funding your nation this conversation is deleterious! The corruption issues as we were told with the recruiting offices has been taken care of! If Ukrainians aren't willing to stand up for their own freedom it's only going to help Putin in his quest to destroy your nation! I truly hope your people rise up to the nightmare they're facing and do the right thing! I'm looking at things through American eyes and I know it's different there but the bottom line is freedom vs Russian slavery!

This statement is based on facts. Front lines are crumbling, and Russia isn't even close to "all in".

  • @micumatrix

From the start it was known that this war is a numbers game. Russians came with not enough soldiers and this was the chance of Ukraine to keep up with Russia. But You lost it, when Ukraine didn’t keep it up. Last year people were positive and before the offensive the draft news wouldn’t be seen so negative as now. Now nobody wants to the front and the ones at the front are tired….It should be done like in Israel: 2y for women and 3y for men. It would help with the numbers game.
To be honest: the choice which age to mobilize is not so sound for me. the future are families where the parents are usually between 25 and 50. They are the most active workers and also experienced and many have good education and or job specialization. If You take these generations kids loose the parents and you loose the most productive part of the population. If You draft the 18-25 You have people mostly without families and mostly didn’t start or finish learning a job. So at this moment they are less productive and the calculation 6 citizens pay one soldier is then rather 3:1.

This is an excellent, but scary, indication of just how serious the Ukrainian situation is. For those Ukrainian men in the country, they might reflect that if they are not prepared to fight now, once Russia takes over the country they will be FORCED to fight, whether they like it or not and with unbelievable indifference and barbarism. Far from being a brave person, I can totally sympathise with the fear of being called up, but believe me the thought of living under Russian tyranny would make me fight whatever it takes. What I find scandalous is the halt of further American aid because of Trump's evil influence, and the incompetence of the Europeans in providing the munitions required, or hesitation to supply the Taurus missile, despite the war being in its second year, thoughts which I can well understand is very demotivating for the soldiers and people on the ground. For those Ukrainian men living in Ukraine or abroad who can fight, I hope that they can summon up the courage to support Ukraine in its hour of greatest need. They will be fighting pure EVIL, a cause more than worthwhile, and meanwhile the American Congress and the Europeans need to get serious in their support of Ukraine.
