HONESTLY, I WOULDN'T PUT THIS LONG OF A FRONT END ON A SWINGARM BIKE WITHOUT A RAKED NECK ON A PERSONAL BIKE BUT THIS IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTED AT THE TIME. I DO RUN 6 OVER ON MY HARDTAIL. MY FRAME ISN'T LEVEL. I'VE BEEN RIDING THAT WAY FOR 10 YEARS. HANDLES JUST FINE. YOU JUST GOTTA RELEARN HOW TO RIDE A LITTLE. CHOPPERERS BEEN CHOPPIN FOR A LONG LONG TIME. THERE ARE NO RULES.
Hi Nashville Dude, I'm in the process of changing my 07 Dyna stock front end with 49mm x 25.5" long slider tubes, to a Dyna Switchback 41mm x 26.25" long slider tubes. I'm replacing everything including the triple trees, lowers, and headlight. I have to increase the 41mm length, because the stock Switchback slider length is a half inch shorter with a stock length of 25". I don't wanna go down in height so I plan on increasing the length to the next available size at 26.25". My question is, how do I calculate the correct internals to accomplish this? Thanks, John
Hey John, Sorry for the delay in response. I'm not on here as much as i used to be. I gotta be honest and say i don't know, really. I kind of just make it up as i go. haha. my first thought would be to add spacers inside the tubes above the springs. might have to just trial and error it put some in and take out till you cut to the right height you're looking for. i'm not a pro. but that'd probably be what i tried. good luck man.
hey did you have to also put a longer brake line on that been thinking about doing a longer fork set up on my 77 project put was not sure if i would need a longer brake cable
The customer had a super long brake cable on it cause the bike came in with like 16” apes on it. But yes, if you’re going from a stock setup to a longer fork, you’ll need longer brake cable.
Bruuhh your a funny one. And the fact you brought up you already talked to your old lady about the measure cup before hand. Hahaha was great advice to some of the huys... good video dole sportster
I dig the channel and watched several episodes and I'm hooked. Your skill and added humor reminds me of the great Matty Matheson (Canadian chef). Keep rockin, love the channel!
I like the white walls on this bike. Anybody know what brand they are, or can anybody make a recommendation on a good set that won't turn yellow in 2 weeks? I've been looking around and I've only found Dunlop.
21" x 3. Some will say that 8 over on a stock frame with suspension and no rake will cause the motor to tilt back far enough that it inhibits the oil from circulation correctly. i personally haven't dealt with that. this was for a customer so the bike is long gone. not sure how he likes it. personally i'd only go maybe 6 over without a frame modification.
Yo! I’m the dude who owns the bike! She handles a lil wacky at slow speeds but is a blast to ride. It took some time getting used to it forsure tho. Start with six, if you dig that keep moving on up as your heart desires!
Bigger front wheel, proper king and queen seat, chop rear fender, taller gas tank, slightly higher bars, and chrome! That’s just me.. It looks awesome. What would that be worth, initial buy, build, customization, labour time?
i hear ya. I was just doing what the customer asked for. Hard to say cost really. i didn't buy the parts, he brought them in. I'd say that for $5k-$6k you could have a pretty tricked out sporty.
I have a Sportster chopper that I've had over 20 years. It was stock when I bought it. I personally think sportys make the best chops. But pans and shovels are great too.
I added an inch block on the bottom of the stock kickstand by drilling two holes thru the kickstand and the block and bolting them together. It was a quick easy fix but if you have a welder, i'd cut the kickstand and add an inch or two of stock in there. or you could order a longer one. i'm sure those are available out there somewhere.
You’re entertaining! Question: sorry in advance if it’s been asked. Did you not have to change the triple trees? My front end of my sportster is raked 4°. I wanted to add 6 or 8” to the forks. I have a Frankenstein kit on it as well. Thanks for the video and anything else you can add.
@@PARTYONFOREVER I have a pretty piss poor video of it on here.. Since the video was made ive cleaned the wiring harness up and done some other odds and ends to it im hoping to make an update video in the next week or so after some new parts come in..
Hey man, I've had motorcycles for a long time but new to the chopper gang. I have a 2014 Yamaha Bolt and wanted to make it "Choppery" by putting in some longer forks. Maybe 3-6" longer? They're 41mm, any brands you would recommend? Anything helps
Yeah, a larger front when would raise his front end even more and since he still had a suspended rear end, the angle was getting a bit steep without raking the neck.
I def changed the cables out. Not certain on handlebars. The customer ordered them and brought them in. They were a pretty standard set of rabbit ear pullbacks. Probably got them on lowbrow. I’ll look into it and get back to you.
I really want to put 6" over fork tubes on my 2014 Iron 883. Do the extended forks change how that bike rides and handles? Also, is it just as simple as putting on extended forks and hopping on the bike or are there other mods that need to be done with a fork upgrade?? Thanks for any and all info my dude and dudettes!
it will def change the way the bike rides and handles. if you're running a front brake, you'll have to get a longer brake line and install it as well. good luck to you.
HAHA! I'm Andy! Trevor is the customer the bike belongs to! The jack is from Harbor Freight. Pretty good little jack. www.harborfreight.com/1500-lb-aluminum-atv-motorcycle-lift-63397.html
Cool.. Did you make the kickstand any longer .. How does it steer..I remember as a kid building chopper bicycles and they were squirrelly as you went with longer forks ...
Yo! I ended up getting a 1” extended kickstand from JP cycles and it’s been solid with a sexy lean. Handles wacky at slow speeds but is a blast to ride, just takes a bit more time to get used to. High speeds shes a blast and has no issues with handling whatsoever.
I actually wanted to ask. Is it best to get a new triple tree with a non stock rake when adding 6+ fork extensions ? I ordered some and I’m worried it’s not going to be a good idea without changing the rake. If so what the best rake to add ? Appreciate the vids :)
YO! I personally am not a fan of the raked front end look but there is something to be said about going to high/long with your front end affecting the performance of your motor because of oil not circulating correctly. If you're doing 6 over, i think you'll be fine. If you wanted to go longer, I'd think about raking. As far as raking go, in my personal opinion, having someone actually cut your neck and rake it out is a nicer look than the raked trees but the raked tress is def the easiest way to do it for sure. I wouldn't be able to give you much advice on rake as i never rake anything out. Probably just a couple degrees would do ya. good luck dude!
I must know, what seat and sissy bar? Also I am planning to go 8 over on my 06 883 this year, never rode anything other than stock so it would be interesting, hopefully it handles ok, it’s got 883 low shocks on it so it’ll be very much chopper style.
Andy, sorry for the late reply. The 8 over on a swingarm bike handles pretty terrible. hahaha. but it looks cool. I'm note really sure what the seat and sissy were on this bike cause it wasn't mine. it was a customer bike. but if you look around on lowbrowcustoms.com i'm sure you'll find something cool that works for you.
@@PARTYONFOREVER terrible how? Many have done it over time. Seems like maybe it’s just something you have to get used to? I heard the same about tall apes before but it’s an 883 not a rocket ship so I enjoyed cruising with them.
Hey Brotha, do you ever have issues with the forks "Topping Out" after installing longer tubes? I did everything like you did, (even same brand and weight oil) and my forks over extend when I go over bumps. Mine is a 2011 XL1200C Mid glide. Any advise will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! PARTY ON!
Yeah yeah, but can we talk about that MXPX banner in the back!!!!! Too rad! Also, I looked at some of the banners in the back Facedown Records is amazing. NIV, Overcome, Symphony In Perel, were all so damn good. Also, Dave Quiggle did so much amazing artwork for them, and xDisciplex AD seriously great taste man!
Thanks dude! I grew up a tooth and nail, solidstate, Facedown kid. I was in a band on Facedown for a number of years. I love that whole crew. Dave is great. He did all my bands record artwork and got tattooed by him. 🤙🤙
@@PARTYONFOREVER Dude that’s amazing. All I do now is skateboard and work in my Dyna and Build this chopper I started. That’s how I found your channel. But this morning I found your As The Story Grows interview. Good stuff man. We have that in common now! Please keep making this content I dig it.
I’m unclear with what to do with the stock metal spacer. I have read that you place the stock metal spacer in first then the spring then the PVC spacer in top. But it is not mentioned in this video
Hey man, I ride a Yamaha Bolt. The fork diameter is 41mm. I found forks I like at 6 inches increase, but its for a Dyna. Could I still put them on or are internals different?
man, i gotta be honest with you...i'm unsure of that. I've never messed much with Yamahas and i've never worked on a Bolt at all. I'd assume that yamaha and harley have different internals in their fork tubes but if the bolt tubes are 41mm and the dyna tubes are 41mm, then i'd have to think that you could make them work with a little ingenuity and patience. there's probably a forum online somewhere that's someone has already figured this out. I tried googling it for you for a couple mins but i'm jammed up busy and figure your googling is as good as mine. ha. Let me know if you get it figured out. i'd love to see pics when you get it done.
Yo dude. Have you checked out my CHOPPERS FOR DUMMIES series I just started? The next video in that series I will be walking through my rewire for Sportsters. Hopefully I should have that video out next week.
Man, I would but the bike is already in the hands of the customer. Jamming higher speeds, cruising the hwy it’s gonna be great. Lower speeds in the city, it’ll be a little whacky but that’s always fun.
Yo! She handles about like you’d expect and how Andy described it. Wonky at slow speeds, but with enough experience she can keep up ripping backroads with the best. Been close to a year and haven’t had any issues other than the occasional awkward balance dance at red lights on steep hills. Haha
You are right. I just didn't have any PVC at the time and i'm all about using what you got. Less trips to the store is always my goal. I'm also lucky that i left a job a couple years back with a plethora of tape so i'm pretty good for a while. haha.
Garage mekanic here to comment on how wrong you are.... "...or turn the whole thing upside-down and beat it off." That is all...🤣 you have a new subscriber now🤙🏻🤙🏻
What's up man, I recently did the same thing to my sportster and I'm noticing I can't see shiiit at night! My headlight is too high and adjusting it through the little nut on top doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
Help! I got an 1800 mile 03 Sportster for a song but problem is, I'm 6"7 350 pounds and look like King Kong ridding a scooter. Will longer forks, raised gas tank and apes help me not to look so stupid on it or should I give up and sell it a leprechaun?
Man. I’m 300lbs but only 5,7. I def make my sporty look small so I can’t talk much. Apes, forward controls, maybe a slim seat that allows you to sit a little farther back, longer forks. Those things will help. I’d rather be a big dude on a little bike than a little dude on a big bike.
This is my new favorite channel

Hey bro what are your thought on putting a steel or PVC pipe as a preloader inside the fork to extend the front end like 4'?
I'VE DONE IT A NUMBER OF TIMES. YOU'LL STILL NEED LONGER FORK TUBES THOUGH.

What’s size front tire is that.
And is there a reason to change a the rake with 8 over tubes
21" x 3.

Sorry for the late reply. Forks by Frank are what i use but i've also installed some from TC Bros and they were great.
cooncool seal driver, may i use it?
OH YEAH DUDE! ITS ALL YOURS!
@@PARTYONFOREVER t.y, i also sent email on garage location,,and saw in other films, y is it the cats in the hall are so far away
yo man sick vid.. is that the lift kit +8" 39MM from tc bros ? or a diffrent size and brand ?
SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN RESPONSE. I'M NOT REALLY ACTIVE ON HERE MUCH ANYMORE. YEAH, I BELIEVE THAT IS WHAT WE USED ON THAT BIKE.
@@PARTYONFOREVER MAKE MORE ON THEM VIDEOS.. WE MISS YOU!!!!!
HELLO could someone PLEASE tell me the song playing at the 9 minute mark??
CHRIS SHARDS - "SHARD'S IN A MOOD"
GAVE IT A LIKE AFTER THE PUMP SESSION
My wife didn't like the pump session bit but i knew it was golden content.
i used a piece of PVC pipe to drive the seals in . it works really well.
Hey Philip. I do the pvc trick from time to time as well, just didn't have any laying around.
It’s almost a modern easy rider.. I love it..
a bigger front wheel would just be over the top perfect!
Yeah, a larger front when would raise his front end even more and since he still had a suspended rear end, the angle was getting a bit steep without raking the neck.
Haha dude, I love these! I’ll get back down to Nash sometime again and we’ll actually connect! Hopefully I’ll have a bike again by then 🤣
Yeah dude. Come on down. I’ll try to actually hang next time.
Where did the handle bars come from and did you need to get new cables for them? Thanks.
I def changed the cables out.
Not certain on handlebars. The customer ordered them and brought them in.
They were a pretty standard set of rabbit ear pullbacks. Probably got them on lowbrow.
I’ll look into it and get back to you.
No neck work? Or raked forks? Just the video I needed to see.
HOPE IT WORKED OUT FOR YA! SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY!! WOOOOOO!
@PARTYONFOREVER It sure did. Then I got rid of it lmao. Moved on from small frame bikes. Time to grow up
I really want to put 6" over fork tubes on my 2014 Iron 883. Do the extended forks change how that bike rides and handles? Also, is it just as simple as putting on extended forks and hopping on the bike or are there other mods that need to be done with a fork upgrade?? Thanks for any and all info my dude and dudettes!
it will def change the way the bike rides and handles.
if you're running a front brake, you'll have to get a longer brake line and install it as well.
good luck to you.
channel is sick bro, thanks for the help
Yo! Thanks dude. New videos coming soon.
Hey Trevor tell us about the blue jack is that a floor jack with an attachment?
HAHA! I'm Andy! Trevor is the customer the bike belongs to!
The jack is from Harbor Freight. Pretty good little jack.

Cool..
Did you make the kickstand any longer ..
How does it steer..I remember as a kid building chopper bicycles and they were squirrelly as you went with longer forks ...
I have the bike back to him with a block of wood. Haha.
I think he ended up getting a longer stand.
It handles a little whacky for sure.
I love your band so much I love you let’s ride choppers brother. I’m coming over and bringing Jason Dunn
LETS DO IT DUDE!
@@PARTYONFOREVER WOO MAMA!
PARTY ON!
did you put spacers in there as well?
@@PARTYONFOREVER yes, the PVC ones that came with the fork tubes. I bought the kit from TCBROS.
Love the channel man, subscribed!
Thank you Robert.
I’m unclear with what to do with the stock metal spacer. I have read that you place the stock metal spacer in first then the spring then the PVC spacer in top. But it is not mentioned in this video
different kits come with different pieces. I just had pvc that i put in at the top
Great job mate!! really enjoyed your video..
Thanks Clive! I appreciate it! There’s more up and more to come!
Your so funny 😂👍 Love your videos 😎🤘
Thanks! I appreciate you!
Vibing hard to this channel not even 2 minutes in.
Yes dude!!! Stick around. More content coming.
I just bought 6 over tubes for my '99 sporty chop, I want a king cobra seat for it but I'm not sure if my 14" sissy would comfortably sit someone.
It’s not about comfort. It’s about cool!
Texas size 10-4 good buddy.
Um did you put the PVC inside I think we missed that part
Haha, i'm sure i did. i'm just bad at actually documenting anything correctly.
love the channell just subbed
Thanks Lee. I haven't been very active lately but i'll try to get some more vids out sooner than later.
A Plea for purging ! Fuck yea man we played a few shows back in the day with yall! Small world man. Kick ass content bro.
Nice dude! The world is small. So many old scene kids in the chopper scene now. 🤙
Thanks for checking out my stuff. More vids coming soon.
My dad sed on the oil is depend how sitf is how much oil u put in the forks
somewhat true but you can put too much in. oil weight matters as well.
subbed!! keep them coming bro, you got potential to be huge on here
Thanks Lee, I appreciate that!
Made me laugh several times. Good video
Thank you! I'm just here for the laughs. I don't know what i'm doing.
Dude i would fucking love to see the actual rewiring done. I love these vids
Yo dude. Have you checked out my CHOPPERS FOR DUMMIES series I just started? The next video in that series I will be walking through my rewire for Sportsters. Hopefully I should have that video out next week.
You should do a follow up after its finished and show how it handles.
Haha
Did you need a longer brake hose?
sorry for the late reply. yes. you'd need a longer brake line.
@@PARTYONFOREVER all good man love the videos you should make more
Looks great! Is that a 21 inch front wheel
Thanks man. Yeah its a 21!
Hey I’m a badass mechanic. I would have used 1 1/2 inch pvc to ram that seal
I respect that. I was using what i had.
You are totally wrong about everything!!...
But so am I.
Keep on keeping on!
I appreciate the honesty. I'm just hear for the good times.
I wonder if a chunk of pvc pipe is actually cheaper and better than all that tape. I love tape. Wouldn’t waste it.
You are right. I just didn't have any PVC at the time and i'm all about using what you got. Less trips to the store is always my goal. I'm also lucky that i left a job a couple years back with a plethora of tape so i'm pretty good for a while. haha.
Ever worked on an 86 Sportster 1100
i haven't but i wouldn't imagine it being any different than any other sportster i've been working on. few small changes. you working on one now?
I have the most expensive 1986 Sportster on the planet I’m 7600 in and I still have to rebuild the forks and brake system
Garage mekanic here to comment on how wrong you are....
"...or turn the whole thing upside-down and beat it off."
That is all...🤣 you have a new subscriber now🤙🏻🤙🏻
there's so much wrong shit in my videos haha but all the bikes i ride and work on run so i'm stoked it hasn't gone horribly wrong yet.
@PARTY ON FOREVER! if it stays together then it couldn't have been put together wrong👌 keep doing you and keep riding bro!
What's up man, I recently did the same thing to my sportster and I'm noticing I can't see shiiit at night! My headlight is too high and adjusting it through the little nut on top doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
If you got a bottom mount headlight and bracket, you’d be able to get more adjustment and shoot it down a little more.
