Tip - if you don't have a vice or don't want to risk squishing your tubes, break them loose (and when your done tighten them) while they are in the triple clamps
Another little important step that was left out is when you drop the upper bushing on, you need to use your PVC or slide tool to gently seat it into place. If you dont, you'll have a hard time seating your fork seal and might ruin it trying. Other than that, great video!
found this video because I was trying to figure out how much oil I need to use. I know my stock specs but I got a extended fork tubes. do I still run the same amount of oil?
Like Forking By Frank, CCE has offered extended fork tubes for decades. Randy Smith started the company back in the late 1960s. He manufactured aluminum finned valve covers for Panheads. Personally, I wouldn't go with fork tubes which are longer than 6" over stock. Anything longer causes the forks to flex and makes the bike handle lousy (at any speed). I don't care for raked frame necks. That mod adversely effects low-speed handling. If you're into something different, stretch the frame front down tubes (moderately) and leave the steering head alone. I've been building choppers since the mid-Sixties. A shout out to Lowbrow Customs in NE Ohio. Build right. Ride safe.
Hey there, wondering if you are saying that you don't think extra rake in the forks or not. I'm currently debating this but I'm under the impression I need to alter the frame or get triple trees. Thanks in advance.

is the pvc spacer just pvc pipe? i’m extending my honda cb360 front and myself and i can get tubes make but no longer springs go with it, trying to figure out how to make it work 😅 pls lmk what you think, thanks!
You did not show where the second bushing goes in the assembly process. Does it go inside the slider or below the oil seal and washer on the fork tube? I can’t make sure because the loctite on my allen bolts have dried up and i cannot disassemble because my dampener rod is spinning
What do you do with the stock metal spacer? I’ve read that it should be placed under the spring then the PVC above the spring but in this video it wasn’t mentioned at all. He just drops the spring then the spacer above.
Ok I can’t find this anywhere, you clean out the fork lower by spraying the break cleaner in there but then what? Do you need to rinse it out? Blow it out with compressed air? Just let the excess drip out the bottom and don’t worry about it or what?
Right now I had to put a Sportster friend in on my 1997 Dyna and the front end sits rather low the kickstand you have to be careful the bike don't fall over it sets to upright. I'm unsure what length tubes I would need I assume that I could use the lower sections from the Sportster I believe them to be the same size in diameter. I hope I'm correct. How much would a set of stock length and what would the stock length be for a dyna 1997 set of tubes thank you
Believe it or not brother I'm putting my 26inch on my roadking I just put my american suspension bolt on neck on now I have to put fork tube extension caps and it eliminated the top bolt to hold it on only thing that holds it in place now is the Allen bolts and yes Believe me I'm nervous as hell lol
I had a motorcycle shop charge me 6 hours labor to install preassembled forks and add a second disc brake and line to the front of my Harley does that sound right?
measure the ID (inside diameter) of your lower leg where the seal sits in that will be your OD (outside diameter) of the plastic PVC pipe. Measure your OD of your fork tube and you want to make sure the PVC pipe has enough clearance to go over the fork tube. Hope that helps.
If you are running front brake, you might. take a string and measure from the caliper to the master cylinder after install.. but Most of the time people don't run a front brake when adding 6 over or more to their legs... because choppers.
@@jtmarshall I decided to pull the trigger. The hard drive customs 49mm 6 over forks were out of stock everywhere I could find em, I eventually ordered some off summit and currently have been awaiting shipping since the 5th.

I use an Allen wrench in the form of a socket as those L shaped ones can be an issue on old bikes when the bolt is jammed in

Everything is a hammer, unless it’s a screwdriver because then it is a chisel ! Great vid man
chisel and prybar

He didn't put back the other bushing. Was it not necessary?
He I look at you tubes on your website, they don’t show the pvc pipes you say come with the tubes in this video. Do they ?
they dont come with PVC tubes, you have to cut them to length and size that you would like or not run them at all.
Can this be done on a 14 and up sportster or mostly early 2000's and below?

Yes absolutely
Good to see you using proper extended fork tubes instead of the extended fork tube caps.
Lot of hacks out there taking that cheap short cut.
That's why I'm here lol I am putting on my 26inch rim I just put my american suspension bolt on neck now I have to put on the extended fork tube caps
Crush washer for oil stop?
Great video! I've got a dumb question: If you're using anything over stock length tubes, you'll need more oil in the fork?
I've heard that you put the same amount as stock but I'm not completely sold on that. Dig your videos by the way dude, watch them all.
@@_rrascal thanks homie!!
No sometimes it is a different amount

Well done,
What size pvc is the seal driver?
1-1/2"
Awfully convenient. I’ve had these on my mind for about a month.
Do it if your really thinking about doing it... I put a set of 8 overs on my 96 and I love them makes the bike look killer..
